Hopefully this translates across to the viewers ok the intention here was not a - "How to use and build a mission guide" More a "hey did you know about this its pretty cool go try it out for yourself" kinda deal. Personally id say its pretty advance and takes a little while to get going with but is very rewarding once you manage to achieve something with it. I am by no means an expert at using this stuff I am just learning it myself.
It should be noted that there is an ability to 'Embark' and 'Disembark' troop units in the Mission Editor as a waypoint task. Pros: It adds weight to the helicopter whereas - unless something has changed that I don't know about - CTLD does not. If you want the realism of 600kg of troops added to the weight of the helicopter then you should use this. You can assign how the troops are distributed across the group as well. Troops will carry on with further waypoints/actions when dropped off - not sure this is covered in CTLD without writing your own lua scripts. So for example I have a mission where you fly to an area of the airport, pick up ('Embark') 2 guys (a SF JTAC unit), fly them into hostile territory, drop them off ('disembark'), then they navigate themselves over to the area they have to JTAC from and start the task. I simply set the next waypoint after the embark task, over near the drop off point, and they carry on as if they walked there. Cons: Little bit buggy in MP... we've had issues where only the first to join the server and pick a slot, could do it. Others have not had this issue.
I just wish DCS would improve the ME for heli missions. Restricting a flight to 4 a/c is a pain in the backside for single player mission. Also it’s impossible to assign a squad of troops to all of your wingmen. The helicopter side of the game has been extremely neglected over the years.
@@BingoFuelOperations I created a mission last week. I can get the troop to get into and then out of the helicopter. When I drop him off though, he doesn't proceed to the next way point like he should, he just runs a circle. One time while I was taking off, he ran into the helicopter and was killed. I ended up losing mission points for fratricide. I am very very new to all of this though. It very well could be that I simply have no idea what I am doing in the ME.
NICE! Looking forward to seeing this used in some of your future missions. Now we just miss to see missions where human ground units call for CAS = show time for the A10-Cs.
I still can't believe there's no visible troops in the back, been added to the game ! I'm no expert but how hard could it be to have some troop models appear. Hell they could all be clones and not even animated, i wouldn't mind so long as they were just there😐
Nice! - Yes I have had a quick look at MOOSE, looks very nice. I haven't used it yet, I have very basic programming skills (read none at all) and it looked a little daunting. Possibly in the future I may take a look at it or hopefully someone else with better knowledge then me will :D
have not found your follow up video to this. Trying to load a standard group via CTLD gives the error 'you are not in a pickup zone'. Trying to load ground forces gives the error 'no logistics', etc. Was a video ever found/made on how to implement thse properly?
I think you can put them into any folder or drive you would like. You just have to point the mission to file in the mission editor. I personally keep all my files in the Missions folder of DCS to keep it simple to find. But I really think it is just whatever you prefer.
I dont know where I would be in DCS without these tutorials! Thank you very much for educating us!
Pleasure

Is this still possible? My group and me are trying to do that in ME without CTLD but no chance. The AI can insert troops but we can't...

yeh I know
Curious when do we get CTLD setup tutorials been looking for that for awhile now
Will investigate
Looks good chaps. I’ve used the MOOSE scripting framework with DCS a fair bit which is also worth a look (although it is very detailed).

Happy to give a few pointers if that helps:)

Where exactly do CTLD files go on your PC? Is there a certain folder that you put them in?

So you dont have 7-Zip?
I'm new to DCS. And I have a question: is every button clickable and functional?
It depends on the module(s) you own. The full fidelity aircraft feature clickable cockpits, the Flaming Cliffs 3 and starter (free) aircraft do not.
@@pchappy2.0 But can you use the switches you can't click, trough keybinds? Or not?
@@ikhebgeennaam1954 Basically yes, that is the only way to control them.
Without knowing how and what to edit in the mist and ctld scripts, this video is pretty much useless. Sorry guys, IMHO its a fail.
this is useless af without showing how to setup actual transports or a universal way without having to define zones
