Just heard the official release and then found this version. The difference is stark. The official version just lacks...for want of a better word...that 60s magic dust. This version, albeit from this century, has the magic dust, the George Martinism, and the Beatlesqueness. Excellent.
This version reflects the real Beatles' classic features. George's slide guitar, Ringo's drums, Beatles' back vocals, Paul's singing in the bridge, John's original composition and his manner of performing. Great job!
While searching around for John’s original piano demo, I came across this amazing cover… I hate to admit it, but it sounds more Beatles-esque than the new Beatles version!! 😳 Bravo! 👏
This is everything the Beatles version should have been. Wish they would have heard this. The official version just doesn’t have the emotional impact of the complete song like this one does.
Came back here because the official version drops the pre-chorus "I don't wanna lose you, abuse you or confuse you". And I actually thought Paul will sing the "Sweet darling" part, but they omit it totally 😢
John Lennon would have preferred this version over the Beatles release today with a neutered Lennon voice! It's too sweet and precise for John. And this version has the original pre-chorus - "I don't wannna to loose you..." Why did Paul delete that section? Maybe he doesn't understand John as well as he thought. Let's let dead musicians lie please! Ortega does a wonderful rendition of this song. Maybe the best yet. Hats off to him!
You really made the song seem more alive in a way the new Beatles version does not -- and you produced it in the style that sounds reminiscent of the old Beatle harmonies and stylings. Thank you for this alternate version -- and amazing you did this 12 years ago!
I do like the new Beatles version but I think the "I don't want to lose you" bit is probably the coolest part of the song and they cut it (maybe just because the demo was too wonky there to work with?). Your version sounds great man.
This is a really good version, that takes the demo and better communicates it. It really sounds like a love letter to Paul. It really makes me think that if he lived, they would have performed again.

yo tambien lloro con esta version. Tiene el espiritu Beatle en los arreglos y la idea completa de John con su cancion, la parte intermedia es una tensiòn imprescindible para que el estribillo tenga sentido, es la resolucion de esa tension.
Wow! This is way better than the official version. It just sounds like something the beatles would have done when they were together. The official version sounds too modern.
Yes, he kept the original sad feeling of the verse, kept the pre-chorus that is even more painfull and perfectly leads to the chorus that is much happier and entertaining with the choirs, it makes a beautiful contrast and better resolving.
Can't get enough of the Visual Creation you've brilliantly put together, nor of the Wonderful musical mix of John's heartwrenching, emotionally stirring "Now and Then". Thank you!

Spot on. The cover seems to have a heavier nuance of Beatle-esque qualities. I felt like it came from someone who really understood the assignment. This is the Beatles after all. It has to feel genuine and unique. And give credit to Paul and Ringo at making a beautiful attempt, but in my opinion this is one of those rare moments where the cover stands superior to the original.
The best version of this beautiful song. Here we are paying respect to this amazing cover just hours before of the release of the oficial song. I have been listening this version for 10 years already! Thanks!
Thank you for making this video, the music is beautiful, it's incredible to listen to one of John's last songs! The art is soo cool! Psychodelic, full of Beatle spirit, happy and uplifting and at the same time nostalgic...glad to see the other 3 Beatles smiling , coming togeteher for John once more❤
I admire what Paul, Ringo and Giles did, but this version captures the essence of John's song more than the AI version they attempted. I'm kind of surprised they didn't go in this direction. John would have, I think.
The AI only separated the vocals from the pianos, the rest were human decisions. The Beatles version is not trying to copy the 60s style as much, but it feels more nostalgic, but this one feels more like what they maybe would have done back in the day. It's great that we have the option to listen to all these versions. This video is 12 years old and until a few days ago I didn't know of this song.
@@Marian87 they gave the sole writing credit to John but nevertheless made decisions which John could not respond to. They should have left the song alone.
Quite the mini masterpiece, this one. Has the added angle of a weird and eerie environment, so it's not only an expected solid Lennonistic romantic endeavor but a very unusually haunting one as well.
Alvarortega, you have done the impossible. You have improved on John Lennon. Thanks so much for this. You did an outstanding job of integrating the video and audio elements. I think tweaking the vocals’ place in the mix Is the only thing that could perfect this masterpiece.
