@clampgod3809 Right and I hate that. It wasn't what was promised when the merger talks first surfaced. @@Mike-aka747 Only 8 teams still and he was boasting about more opportunities? Wow! That sucks! Didn't know that! There was no point of even mergining then.

Same! I went to the final Seadragons home game that ultimately lifted them to the XFL playoffs and it was a fun audience. I hope they come back in future expansions
It sounds idealistic, but it doesn't work in real life. In the NFL, guys who are drafted, especially guys drafted in the first round, are given preferential treatment. To prove this, I would point at the Green Bay Packers quarterback situation this year. They signed the USFL MVP, Alex McGough, to come in and compete during training camp. The truth is, he never had a chance to make the final 53. During preseason, Love and Clifford got almost all the snaps. In the few opportunities McGough got, he did play very well, but of course, there was a 0% percent chance he was going to be the Packers quarterback. Jordan Love was entitled to that position, and Clifford was entitled to the backup role, as their draft status entitled them to those positions. I watched the whole Packers preseason and followed their camp this year, and I would argue that McGough is actually a better quarterback than Love, but of course, none of that matters. What matters is that the narrative is followed and that the GM looks good for drafting his guy. So I don't think the "54" concept actually works. Guys like Alex McGough will always be #54, even if they prove themselves.
They might have actually done something if they placed teams where people want them. You didn't need anymore Chicago, New York, Vegas, LA ect. Maybe states like South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Nebraska, West Virginia, ect.
Now I am a bit conflicted, because DC was my favorite XFL team, and Birmingham was my home state team. Regardless, Birmingham vs Arlington is going to be a fun game.
I think it's a fantastic move. This will help grow spring football and give guys more chances. I love it. Kinda sad the Orlando team is folding but hopefully they bring them back. Partnering with ESPN means partnering with Disney. Gotta put a team in Orlando just for that.
