  • With W:TOW not being one of the "big games" for GW now, what will its new role as a specialist-type game look like? Let's talk about it.

I think you're bang on the money here. TOW not being a 'main studio' game means that the expectations set by GW won't be as high as say for 40k and AoS. So GW is more likely to be satisfied/impressed by the sales if they meet or exceed expectations, and therefore they're less likely to mess with it (like you say, 40k has seen an enormous amount of rules churning and changes over the past 3 editions).
My group still play 6th so I likely won't be moving over to TOW anytime soon, but I'm actually quite hopeful about TOW's long-term stability.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, that's amazing that your lot kept to 6th! TOW is is in a strange place right now, selling old as new in a weird tension. I hear about some GW stores not even mentioning TOW or knowing much about it. I was telling one senior staffer a few of the changes in this edition and he seemed genuinely interested to learn, which shows what GW are getting pushed. But we are the old guard, I guess.
I just need to get some games of it played! Very curious to find out how relevant "linehamner" is going to be. I must say, regardless of how good it is or is not, it needs to be erreta'd or something, as it is immersion breaking, more than anything else!

Good Stuff Lad! I have to say the situation is interesting. I tried 40k and I enjoyed my army Eldar but in the end I went to basic Warhammer. I skip my comments about age of sigmar. This video is a good view point I will keep it. Lets see what the future will bring for the Old World

Yeah, I have a Dark Angels force, but Fantasy was always my first love and nothing else ever quite scratched that itch.

We can keep playing WHFB. If GW still wants to push AoS we can just buy what is adaptable and take what is not wherever we can.

Only trouble with still playing WHFB is finding the players to battle. People go off "dead games", or what they perceive to be. I'm talking majorities here, not even all. I know some groups remained tight-knit and played older editions. Good on them. I've never been part of one like that, unfortunately.
Yeah, 3D printing will help A LOT now with TOW.
