Very helpful video. I plan to land in Tokyo and travel to Osaka next day with 7 Day JR Pass activated. On last day plan to come back to Tokyo and remaining four days, use SUICA or a regional JR pass whichever cheaper.
Hi Steve, first thank you for making this video! I appreciate your efforts. Our family is traveling in Tokyo mid to end of November for 4 days, Osaka 3 days and Kyoto 1 day. We’re flying from HND to ITM. I am wondering what would be the best transit card we should buy? We will mainly travel within Tokyo and Osaka, 1 day trip to Kyoto from Osaka. Thanks in advance for your response! 😊
Glad I ‘found’ you…😁 I was wondering whether do I need other pass besides Suica for my Oct/Nov trip… will be only Tokyo. Probably, Kawaguchiko & Gotemba Premium outlets… Thank you Steve!
Hi, so I am travelling to Japan later this month and my itinerary includes Tokyo , Hokkaido , Kyoto and Osaka. I have decided to get Hokkaido Sapporo furano area pass as it covers the areas I want to travel there. Post that I’ll be flying to Kyoto so I am planning to take Kansai mini pass which would cover Osaka, Kyoto and nara. From there I’ll be taking a bullet train individual ticket for Tokyo and use IC card for internal travels there. Please give your suggestions on the same. Thanks
Hi Thank you for your videos.😊 My family is on a trip to Japan in Nov. We will land in Narita. 3 days in Tokyo, 1 day in Fuji, 2days in Kyoto, 1 day in Osaka, and 1 day in Fukuoka to Busan. Which pass or ticket is suitable for us?
hey! Busan is not in Japan so im a little confused 😅 In any case you can plot your info above all in here - www.jrpass.com/farecalculator and it will tell you if buying a JR pass is worth it =)
They are exactly what you would expect based on the name - if you’re only there for 1 to 3 days and will be doing copious amount of travel Ing involving public transport then this would be worth it
WE planned to go Osaka then to Kyoto...perhaps Nara as well... Do you think we need Japan Rail pass or should we get individual pass.? Our plan is arrived Narita then take Nex express to Tokyo station...from here we will direct to Osaka for 3 days...after this city we plan to stay another 3 days in Kyoto before back to Tokyo for 4 days before we leave Japan.....Need your advice on this....
Definitely plot this exact itinerary into the JR Pass Calculator - m.jrpass.com/farecalculator If the total exceeds that of a JR Pass then the JR Pass is what you need to get =)
Have a 10 day trip coming up landing in Narita, staying in Tokyo for 5 days, then to Kyoto for 3 days, Osaka 1 day, then flying out Narita again. Would you recommend Hokuriku Arch Pass or JR Pass? Im confused as ill be just over 7 days but dont need a 14 day pass... Thank you so much!!
Hi! You are not travelling nearly enough to justify a JR Pass so Hokuriku for sure Here's. where you can get one. - bit.ly/JRHokurikuArchPass PS - its for 7 days so cover the rest with a tokyo subway ticket for unlimited train rides in tokyo - bit.ly/tokyosubwayticketsteve PS - Use PHATLIFEPROJECTKLOOK code to book for 10% OFF Hope this helps!
You can either get it off the official JRPass website - www.jrpass.com OR if you want 10% OFF the pass get it via klook - bit.ly/jrpassphatlifeproject (use my my code PHATLIFEPROJECTKLOOK when checking out) Please give it at least 2-3 weeks as the pass will be snail mailed to you
What pass/passes would you recommend for Osaka-Kyoto-Kanazawa-Okayama-Kyoto-Tokyo-Yokohama-Fuji-Nikko-Tokyo? All this is spread over 9 days..thank you!
I'm going for 21 days with my son in May with 8 days in Tokyo and then Fukushima, Amori, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Osaka, and maybe Hiroshima if time permits. I'm am banging my head in deciding between a SUICA/PASMO or just giving up and opt for the JR Railway Pass. After all its two of us. I want to save as much as possible but it's almost worth dispensing with the headaches of coordinating multiple options. I keen on using the Welcome SUICA or PASMO if it lets me hit all my wants North to South with random stops along the way.
@@PhatLifeProject I just plugged in all the citys in this order. Tokyo > Fukushima > Amori > Shin-Fiji > Kanazawa > Kyoto > Osaka > Hiroshima > Tokyo and it came just under by 7$USD for a 21 day pass. I'm tempted to just do a Welcome SUICA to cover our first 8 days around Tokyo, paired with a 14 day JRRPass to cover the next 13 days of City to City travel. (nothing has been purchase) but since we leave in 3 1/2 weeks. Gonna books pretty soon.
I am assuming the jr pass is for regular seat only. For green car, do we have to buy it separately at the station or is there an option to select green car when purchasing jr pass? In the case of not buying jr pass, can we buy shinkansen green car ticket online? Which website is good to use?
You can get the green car JR Pass INSTEAD of the regular JR Pass You can get this either on their official website or via websites like Klook, if you do decide to buy it via klook i have a discount code - PHATLIFEPROJECT =)
great video.... What if snail mail is not an option for me as I will be traveling mainly from hotel to hotel in different countries well in advance of getting to Japan (specifically Fukuoka from Busan, South Korea).. How do I get my JR Pass in this case?? Thanks
You have the option of getting it mailed to your hotel - but please make sure you allow for plenty of time and make sure you got the address correct =)
Hi! I’m afraid I saw this video too late for the JR pass if the voucher is to be snail mailed :( my trip is in 27 days. Is there another option? Can I get this when in Japan? Pls help lol
Hi, you can also choose to get your JR Pass mailed to your HOTEL address in Japan but pleae make sure your address is 100% correct!, I have mentioned this also here - ruclips.net/video/DFrdF5pdCFo/видео.html

Is chip shortage also affecting physical Suica welcome card availability?
