- I have a later version of this video underneath my Ford playlist and Ford Escape playlist on my channel that’s a little bit more descriptive even though it has much worse audio!!!
This video is going to show you how to remove the alternator the proper way. they’re two different ways of removing the alternator but the other way could end in disaster and this is the simplest easiest way to actually do it. it may looks like it’s complicated but it’s NOT! it’s also going to show you how to remove the axle on the passenger side ( 10:05 in if that what your looking for) of your Ford escape ,Mazda tribute or Mercury mariner. You should watch the entire video before performing the procedure because I correct myself during the video I made the video while I was doing it and I showed you how to use your tools to be able to get the parts apart the easiest very much hope it was helpful and I wish you the best day possible.
Please subscribe !!!
Also you can follow me on clays ac and auto repair on facebook And if you have any questions it’s easier to message me straight through Facebook
Why should you Subscribe to my channel ? I constantly make these videos that show you how to use your tools and show the techniques that we use in our auto repair shop every day. And all it does is help me send you stuff . I do not sell your information I do not solicit you. all it does is add a couple 100 thousands of a cent to me . And it cost you Nothing ! you would only be helping me . And hopefully i was able to help you !! So please be kind and enjoy!!

You deserve a like. The alternator is in the worst possible place for replacement. Thank you for posting.
Thank you so much!
Appreciate this video man. The one Mechanic told me he had to take apart stuff from the top, this is a way easier way man.
Clay, thanks for posting this. You seemed to have brought together all the good tips from the other videos that covered this procedure. After watching this I got inspired to tackle the bad alternator on my 2003 Mazda Tribute. The key instructions; get the drive-shaft out of the way in one piece (fairly easy), take the belt off the A/C compressor for slack, and loosen the motor mount so the engine can be jacked up to create a larger space to get the unit out/in. Also, rotating the alternator in place to get at the battery cable and control connection was easier than fumbling around behind and not being able to see what you're doing. Took me about 4 hours, would have been tons easier with a lift (instead of crawling around on my knees) but it got done. Thanks again.
Great job and I appreciate the kind words when I come across things like this and I see people talk about taking it out through the top I know that will only create more problems for most people . I think four hours is pretty good it took me about three if I remember right when I did it God bless you have a great day
As an auto mechanic, with a lift, and ALL the specialty tools you can think of, videos like this is still greatly appreciate. these escape alternators are the worst design excluding some European and foreign one. anywho thank you very much for going into so much detail i was able to quote my customer before even looking at it :)
I just did this job today on a 2002 Escape. This video was very helpful, I really appreciate it! I agree that taking off the cv axle is the way to do it. I really appreciate your tip about not separating the cv axle and the intermediate shaft and just removing those nuts, that made the axle removal pretty simple!!!!
Here are a few pointers I might add:
1) I highly recommend using a 1/4 ratchet to re-install that alternator bracket. For folks like me who tend to crank a little too hard on a ratchet/wrench, it would cause a lot of heartache to break a bolt off into the block!
2) I like to spray a little WD-40 (or similar) onto the plastic electrical connector (in this case, the one on the alternator). I'm sure someone will say this is a horrible idea and will ruin this or that---I've done it many, many times and have never had a problem. It helps the plastic tab unlock easier.
3) Google "2002 ford escape belt routing diagram" or similar to find the belt path for re-installing the belt
4) I wouldn't waste much time trying to get the alternator out without removing the alternator bracket (which he does show the removal of in this video, thankfully) and I certainly would go this route (removing the cv axle, etc.) as opposed to trying to get it out from the top. It's just plain not going to come out without removing that bracket, and you don't wanna risk damaging the two small studs that hold the cv axle (or actually the intermediate axle).
5) use a block of wood on your jack when raising the engine (after removing the mount bolt as shown in this video), if you put the saddle of the jack directly on the oil pan, it will destroy it
awesome dude very thorough very good video I have a 2001 Ford escape XLT V6 and the alternator just went out it's originally 33,000 miles that's why I bought it but it was fully corroded and it started having problems. thank you so much for your video, and yes the best way is to remove the axle, I am a retired aviation mechanic and you're very good at what you do
Well thank you Manny I will take that as a very very good compliment coming from an aviation mechanic. Welcome to the channel we’re very very happy to have folks on board like you thank you very much for the kind words
Looks like it'd be easier to crash the thing and report it stolen
Hahaha thanks for this idea 😂
I own an Escape, and I've been thinking this for a while!
LOLOLOLOLO,,, almost, I had to do this and its going out again two years later,,, I'm not looking forward to it,,, I'm thinking about your idea!!!!
Lmao true
They make shitty parts these days that's for sure.
Thank you very much Im a novice and your video made it possible for me to remove and replace alternator myself at home in the driveway. Took me a few hours to do, only because I wanted to make sure where to put everything back in.
I just did this using your video. It was a lot harder than it initially looked, but then again I have very minimal experience with this stuff. I got it done though, thanks for the walk through.
That one that I did in the video about a year. Was much easier than the one that I did today. On another Ford escape I still stand behind what I say when I say it’s the best way and the easiest way to do it. Thank you I appreciate the kind words and yes I did watch my own video before doing The other one today
No problem man, totally agree with you going in from the bottom. I took one look from the top down and was like **** that. The only difference I had on my own Escape was that I had that dumb plastic brace around the alternator. It was attached on both sides of the alternator. The outside piece facing the front passenger came off easy with one bolt and a plastic clip, but the opposite side facing the the driver side was a huge pain to get off with the limited space. Ford really knows how to create a challenge. Thanks again.
Yeah I just did one this last weekend that had that same plastic piece that you’re talking about what a pain in the butt my old one didn’t have it but the 05 I did this last week and did so I guess some of them do and some of them don’t
Thanks so much for your escape videos. They made my husband's job so much easier.
I'm going to have my work cut for me when i start this project on my girlfriend's escape thank you for the video have a merry christmas and happy new year
Tackle it yet?
Thanks! Did it in my driveway in 4 hours, just like you said. Took the intermediate shaft out with the axle, easy. Left the tie rod connected. Luckily everything came apart pretty easily. The Clay way is the best way.
Excellent tutorial!! I am going to do one tomorrow. I've been fixing cars for about 30 years now, and I'm not looking forward to this one😅 Thanks!!!!
I'm about to do this myself, glad to see it done the right way before I attempt it myself!
Your video was very helpful and made plenty of sense why do all that extra work and pet play with electrical wiring that does it really need to be touched makes perfect sense to me I'm doing mine from the bottom thanks to you great tips greatly appreciated
Doing mine at 300,000 kms and I think this will be a huge help. Service manual says to drop entire sub frame. Thanks for the video.
Really my ford one says ill come out with out even lifting the engine just removed drive axle
What an absolute pain man lmao, I'm just glad this video exists
Thanks bro you explained it very well I’ve learned a lot using the Clay way LOL
Thanks buddy you really help me out a lot this time a broke my wrist so I did it all one handed so far appreciate the knowledge from you
Thanks for posting. This was very helpful. This approach is not as scary and difficult as it looks at first. Seems much easier than the top extraction method. I am not a mechanic and I did not have too much trouble with this job. I had all the tools required except the 32mm socket for the hub nut and an E8 socket for the top mounting stud. I did not raise the engine or remove the bracket. I unbolted the alternator and was then able to move it around and take the three 8mm nuts off of the plastic shroud, remove the shroud, and then the alternator came out of the hole with only a little finagling, without raising the engine. Don't try to take the shroud off with the alternator bolted in place, that is an exercise in frustration. One other helpful hint, take the top alternator nut off and take the stud out before taking out the lower bolts. It's an E8 socket for the stud (at least it was in the 2007 I was working on). You have to pop the snorkel off of the shroud to get to the top nut easily. It snaps onto the shroud with tabs on both sides of the tube. Squeeze the tabs and it pops right off. Good luck!
Thanks again for the help Clay. I got her done. It was by no means easy and I will hurt for days but me and my bank account thanks you. lol. The biggest snag I hit was not being able to get the alternator off of the top stud. I tried for almost 30 minutes and ended up just unscrewing the stud from the engine block. After reinstalling with just the 2 bottom bolts and verifying it all worked I went and got a 4.5" bolt and used that on the top. After backing out of the driveway for a test drive I noticed the alternator rubber boot ripped in half and laying in the drive way so I had to order a replacement boot.
You are right about that bank account thing Tony. My alternator went out 400 miles from home, cost $610. plus a motel room for the night.
@@jimsz0100 I'm in the EXACT situation right now and trying to determine whether I can do this. I have most the tools and auto parts stores down the street.
Thank you for this tutorial. Very detailed, about to start replacing my wife's. Will update upon completion.
This is for the six-cylinder 3.0
Right unfortunately this is not for a 2005 Ford escape. 7 hours in and still not done. Ford vehicles I really hate right now lol
It is for a 2005 Ford Escape. It's just not easy. Took me 8 hours.

Its been 2 years did you ever get it off?
Great video you are extremely informative. I will definitely be following you for more stuff. Keep up the great work!
Thanks very very much Lucas I greatly appreciate the kind words and we’re very happy to have folks like you hear
Thanks for the video! What year is this ford escape? or are all the alternators for ford escapes placed in the same area?
On the V-6 yes they are all in the same position on the four-cylinder they are extremely easy to change.
just did the alternator on my 2003 escape with the v6 I took the top of the air plenum (intake manifold for some ) just as you would to replace rear ignition coils and the was all sorts of room to come out the top ! in fact i had both arms down it there as there is a couple hoses to wiggle around out and in in just over an hour and I wasn't hurrying ! not sure about other years but it worked here
good heavens! Could they have made this more difficult! Great video!!!!!
Thanks man…I got it out and I didn’t have to loosen the Engine mount … that’s one less thing I didnt want to do 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
Yeah I did that to make sure that people could get them out. I knew it was unnecessary but I also knew if I didn’t tell people that there’s times that you have to do it people would lose their minds……
Just tackled this job while replacing the PTU in my 2005 Escape. Figured with 175000 miles, I might as well change the alternator while I was in there.
No joke. Mine is at about 275,000... I hate that they put it where it's so inaccessible.
OneTrue Halo same dude
Thank you for the info and tips. It took us 4 hrs but We Did It!
Thanks for the video. Helped me get this done. Two after issues.
1. Lost a little fluid when I pulled the axel.
2. I now have a 4wd light that flashes 10 times every few minutes.
Maybe 1 and 2 are related but I can't tell yet.
Definitely going in from the bottom to start. Like you I will break those plastic connectors if I try to go in from the top. Thanks for the information.
Here’s a little cleaner version of that video I just made a couple weeks ago the audio is not the best but the video is a little bit shorter little bit more defined
Easiest way to change a Ford escape alternator
ruclips.net/video/-0QaGN45xlI/видео.html
Thanks for the video! It helps to put the relevant model years somewhere...
Relevant models. The only thing relevant to this video is that it’s a V6 the years do not matter….. You don’t think they make a different car every year do you? You do realize that when you make a statement like that it actually lets everybody know that or a lot of people I guess I should say no that you know nothing about automobiles….
I think there may be something that you’re missing on automobile manufacturing
In order to continue to make profits they need to make several hundred thousand of the same thing if not millions of the same thing which definitely millions of four escapes have been made they do that over the number of years so they can make millions of the same parts parts cheaper Because they’re just reproducing the same thing year after year so if you’re Engine looks the same and your vehicle shape looks the same well it’s the same procedures so your model all of that stuff that you’re talking about makes no difference whatsoever. All you have to do is go out and give it a try or look at it and in five seconds that it’s the same vehicle or the same vehicle
I don’t condone your racist overtures thinking that because the vehicle looks the same on the outside that it’s not the same on the inside… 🤔😂😂😂😂
I helped a friend remove his and I took it out from the top and changed it out within 3.5 hrs. Didn't have to do all that to remove the alternator. Just unclipped two connections and removed the vacuum canister on the firewall. Wiggled it out and walla reversed procedure and installed in no time. But this is a good video.
Never seen this video before, but I just did this yesterday to my mom's car. It is a 2003 Mazda Tribute V6 4 wheel drive. It's literally the same car. This job can be done from the top with the waitlist time from having to do any actual work. You have to take off the canister at the back of the firewall, the electronic throttle on the right side of the car, and have to disconnect a couple of the wire harnesses and one vacuum line. Everything you're going to remove is going to be 8 mm 10 mm and 13 mm. The three bolts are accessible if you remove the plastic cover around the alternator behind the tie rod against the frame which are just press in plastic rivets, and there are three of them, you can remove them with a flat head screwdriver, also you have to take the passenger right side wheel off. I removed the intake (8mm bolts, leave in place) you just have to shift it around a little bit as you try to pull the alternator up from the bottom after everything is disconnected. You can access the 10 mm nut that is on the main wire from the alternator to the battery from the top. Once you have the alternator loose you can Jimmy it around so that you can get to the wire harness which only takes a flathead to remove pressing in towards the back of the alternator from the pulley side of it and turning it slightly to free it. I was able to do this by myself in about 3 hours. This will avoid taking any axle shaft or tie rod removal saving you an immense amount of time. I'm not saying you're not going to cuss three or four times, but it will save you time. And just an extra tip, whenever you are pulling the alternator up the two bolts side needs to be facing the driver side and the one both side needs to be towards the passenger and the pulley is going to have to be facing up, also kinda moving around the loose intake for adjustment room . This is a lot better do with two people as one can be pushing from the bottom but I only had myself so this had to suffice for what I needed to do. Wish you the best of luck you can comment back if anybody has any questions about anything. Good luck everyone.
Thanks for this video! I'm Going to try and get this done on my 06 Escape this weekend. I already have the brake caliper hung up out of the way and have the rotor off. I also have the 18mm bolts ready to come out. Hopefully once I take those 2 bolts loose on the intermediate the whole thing slides right out and I can get to the alternator mounting bolts pretty easy. My alternator has a duct shroud on the back though so getting it out might be a little trickier. This video helped a lot. I was quoted $1386 parts and labor from one place and $1100 just labor from another place and I had to supply the alternator.
Thanks for the kind words Tony it really seems like a difficult job but it is not. The only thing that makes jobs difficult like this is if stuff doesn’t come out the way it supposed to. But every time you have something bad happen just take a breath and look at it from a different perspective, walk away if you have to. And I’m sure you will get it just keep in mind that if anyone else can do it you can do it to God bless I wish you the best with it
@@sharpcarco So I pulled the intermediate shaft out and a lot of red liquid came out(I know nothing about suspension). luckily I had a bucket close by and caught most of it but my question is how do I get it back in? I have the 06 4x4 limited escape
Tony Culpepper Most of the time not a lot comes out maybe 2 to 4 ounces. So it’s really nothing to worry about but if you look on my page I just made a video showing you how to fill it is actually very very simple. I’ll look it up and send you the link

You took your time and showed everything very well it was very helpful great job
Did this on 2007 3.0 this past weekend, in a driveway. Didn't have 30mm to remove hub, so just left it attached to shaft, disconnected steering and no problem. Actually may have given a little more room to work in...
Glad to hear it went well 😎
Thanks, saved time watching this before.
Good Lord, could they have buried that thing any deeper? I remember small block Chevrolets the 70s I could put an alternator on in 15 minutes! They try to force people to take this stuff back to the dealer that's the deal!
Goddamn.... Ford dealership wants to charge me $878.60 USD to change the alternator. Thought I'd look up how to do it myself. FML.
thanks for video was very helpful, just bought an escape only to findout the alt was bad and couldnt even drive it out of guys driveway i bought it from

Thank you for the video. Very helpful. Now to go change mine.
Is it necessary to take the axel nut off since you ultimately end up removing the knuckle bolts and detaching the CV?
Good afternoon Michael I just made a new video on this particular subject and I made it a little bit simpler to understand
Going to end up removing the axle anyways but in this video it’s a little bit cleaner and quicker..
Wish you the best of luck have a great day

Well thank you very much for taking the time to write a nice comment it always makes me very happy to see them God bless have a great day!!! 🤗
To make this job a lot easier remove the black air flow cover that sits on top of the alternator. This will allow you to avoid having to struggle with it to get it out.
I do mine a little different than that way . I remove the intake and it will come up from the back of the motor. Less work and I think a little easier. I’m just saying that’s how I do it we all do things different. I’ve been working on cars for 45 years at my age you look for the easy way.
Thank God I found this video I just wish I would have seen this before i started replacing my alternator LAST FRIDAY!!!!!! lol I had so much trouble getting my bolts because j didn't want to remove the arm and axel but ITS DEFINITELY THE WAY TO GO WITH THIS VEHICLE!!!! Everybody is a critic...or a professional mechanic after watching this video.
Welp I will be saving your video. I get to do this when I get home.
First off thinks for being very clear on your instructions. 2nd off good Lord I will take it to a shop that looks like a massive pain lol
Well thank you very much for the kind words. I believe if you think you can do it you certainly can if you don’t think you can it will probably be difficult this is not the easiest job in the world.
Quick question. That bracket with the 2 studs that you have to take the nuts off to remove the axle assembly, is that removable to replace the studs if they were to break when removing the extremely rusted frozen nuts? Thank you and excellent video.
Yeah I do believe you should be able to but I would be surprised if they actually broke when you remove them to nuts the whole axel come right out. Really easy.
@@sharpcarco Thank you for your reply. Problem is, the studs are so rusted that they would most likely break because they are impossible to turn, they won't even budge. I'm going to try heating them then immediately cool with water to see if it frees up some of the rust after hitting them with a wire brush before and after heating. Such a bad design.
When you took the axles out did you have to put trans fluid out is it going to leak when you pull it out
Depending on the angle of the vehicle meaning (if it’s flat) you may have a tiny bit come out. Nothing to worry yourself about
What size was the bolt that had the stud on it and did you remove it from the top or bottom
nice video really helped a lot. hope your having a good day. thanks again
Good video, but I'm getting motion sickness from the camera going back and forth so much, did you do this on a ship?
I'm at a hotel in south Louisiana for work. My contract ends and I check out Monday morning and I live right outside of Myrtle Beach 900 miles away. I have sockets, the same box wrenches, a framing hammer, and pliers and 4 auto parts stores within 1 mile walking distance. I'm trying to determine whether I can do this in the hotel parking lot by myself lol
That’s a good question.
Well I would have to say that if you think you can do it.I would think so unless it starts raining.
The first challenge starts removing the plastic that surrounds that damn alternator. If it looks like a good idea to conveniently forget to install that plastic on the alternator, well, don't. Since someone had the great idea to design it to be back there it needs that plastic to divert air to cool the alternator. Youve6gog to love Ford
Hey thanks for the video just about to get mine out and put the new one in honestly not a bad job so lang as you have the tools to do it
That is 100% true and that is why I recommend doing it the way I did it but I still get people who tell me that it’s super easy to take out through the top I think this way makes it easier to get to all the bolts and connections...... “ you can’t teach somebody something they already know” Have a great day
Very helpful video. Thanks a million.
Clay the Video is a good help changing the alternator, You may have noticed all the fresh oil leaking underneath things.. That's more than likely the cause of the alternator failure. Oil saturating the electrical inside the alternator and shorting it out over a short time. I would want to repair the major oil leaks so your alternator lasts awhile.
Yeah I fixed the oil leak later
Thank you for the video. It was helpful
Thank you this was a lot of help bro
Thanks so much for your informative video.
You're very welcome!
Video starts at about 2:30
Watching this seeing that he removed the axle half shaft got me thinking, "WTF....just remove the 2 nuts holding the intermediate shaft...."
then again, he did say hes been working on vehicles for a VERY LONG TIME!!!!
😅😂🎉
Quick question. Is there a way to pull it out from the top? Someone i spoke to said they have done it easier that way. Everytime i have done it i always used this method.
As a matter fact I was just doing one yesterday and I made a new video of it because I think it’s much cleaner than this video.
And when I was doing it I had that in mind that people were saying they pulled it out through the top I tried to pull it out through the top (I didn’t try very hard)
But I thought even if I removed the intake I couldn’t see how I could get the alternator past the cylinder head.
So hopefully in a couple days I will have that video of me personally I’m gonna stick with the way I’ve been doing it
Pulling axle shafts means losing atf right?
Not generally, sometimes you lose a little bit, but not generally very much, if any at all
Great video very helpful
Well I'll try this in the next day or so let you know totally agree with you with the top way though to much can go wrong
I'd like to see how its done from the top. This seems just as annoying.
I'm watching the video again and I have a question. Would it be easier to do the 13 mm socket on the alternator after you take everything off for the wheel all the way to where it's necessary to remove the alternator?
Which 13 mm Bolt are you talking about I’m assuming the one that holds the positive to the alternator you can take it off last or you can take it off anytime you like. I found it easier just to flip it around once everything is unhooked but I’m sure you can get down there with the ranch and take it off prior to taking everything else off
@@sharpcarco I was meaning any removal of the alternator. Would it be easier to remove the entire CV assembly before I start removing the alternator?
Yes take out the bolts and remove the whole axel
A little better video on this , audio kinda messed up but very but and bolt . And I think shorter

I have a question for the panel here...Any advise would be appreciated. I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute and today my battery light came on for about 2-3 minutes. First time I've ever seen the low voltage light flash on like that. I tested the voltage on the battery with the vehicle both turned off and running. I was getting 12 volts and some change with the truck off. With the truck started I was getting about 14.5. My truck has around 170,000 miles on it and that red light coming on like that might be trouble. If I have to tackle my alternator I'm gonna shoot for taking it out the top, only because I think that was would easier for me personally. Either way I do this it's not going to be be an easy task.
I had that same thing happened to me on my Ford is scape and about a week later my alternator went bad. sorry I wish I had better news for you .But I hope that information is helpful
Thanks for the information...
AWESOME INFO, thank you very much..
Was it a seal on the end of the axles that goes into the trans or do I just need to push harder because it leaking it a seal on the trans but is is there one to the shaft
I’m not certain I’ve never had them leak. I’ve done this about 20 times it might just be A coincidence that it started leaking. After you were done. I’m sorry for that I haven’t had that trouble before
Clay, forgot to mention the 32mm hub nut is the same as 1 1/4" sae if someone has that instead.
Thank you very much for posting that I apologize but that will be helpful to someone have a great day
Thank you 🇺🇸
I should have watched this earlier today. Spent the better part of my day trying to get that d!#@ thing out! Service manual said nothing about rocking the engine up, but there’s no way to do it otherwise (maybe taking the cat off or going out the top, but that’s gotta be way harder). Thanks for posting this.
How many hours. Did this take?
About four hours I would guess
For future reference, instead of removing the bolts from the strut, remove the lower control arm at the ball joint or your car has to go in for alignment. You could try to mark with a sharp object to install it more or less in the same position, but you are better off disengaging the lower control arm
What are the 17 and 18mm bolts called? i was trying to get replacements for them but cant find them?
All you have to do is know the length and the thread pitch I’m not certain which ones you’re talking about but any hardware store should have just about anything 12 mm or smaller as far as thread size goes
@@sharpcarco That makes sense. the ones im talking about are the ones connecting the strut
Meanwhile my Mercedes CLK has never given me any problems and even if it did the alternator is litteraly so easy to get to
Hey bud I’m starting right now seems it’s be easier to first remove the axle and half shaft no? That’s what I’m gonna do
Yeah I would agree to take the axle and a half shaft out you can actually take the half shaft and the axle all out at one time
Do you have to do an alignment after you do it this way?
I never did one on mine and I didn’t have any issues. I’m assuming because you’re always going to have a positive and negative on your alignment anyways and because you’re only really removing and or loosening the bolts on one side it doesn’t theoretically move it enough. And I’ve never had anyone else say anything about there’s being off after they’ve done this job
@@sharpcarco Thanks for your reply. Love your videos. Really great walkthroughs!

I got the alternator discounted but can't get it out I have the 01 v6
Take the Engine cradle bolt out from the front and the back on the passenger side then you will be able to remove it
How reliable are those older ford escape models?, Brother... pls let me know.
Personally I like them I think they’re really good vehicles with the exception of having to change the alternator and sometimes the shock tower on the passenger side rear Rusting out.... (I also have exceptional video showing you how to fix that). I personally own three of them and I love them very much
I have one and it’s been dog shit from day one.
How long dose it to put the new one on
Amateur probably 5 to 6 hours still takes me 2 to 3 hours to do it
I've done everything and motor is jacked up..alternator still won't come out. I noticed you didn't show it actually coming out or putting it back in.
Well, the only reason I didn’t show that was because I couldn’t hold the camera and use both hands. Keep spinning it till it comes out. Try to remember how you get it out to.
@@sharpcarco that's what I figured. I got it out. I had to pull the rest of the drive axel, I only had the cv axel off. Thank you very much!
I liked the vid, but you were not clear on the lift point of the engine, this makes it difficult for a novice, other then that it was great.
Well I apologize about that but thank you very much for the kind words
How much to replace a 02 ford Escape alternator?
Hello Rebekah I thought I already answered this question. Regretfully I don’t get price quotes over public comments but if you need one you’re more than welcome to look me up at Clays AC and Auto Repair on Facebook and message me and I’ll be happy to share that information with you including labor time if you need to do it , it is not a very cheap job
2005 2.3 4 cyl xls I pulled it from the top in 30 minutes took the cruise control unit off 3 nuts motor mount off jacked the motor up and it came right out from the top. Just did it Wednesday no need to go from the bottom. 13mm socket for the 3 alt bolts 10mm for nut then take the wire connector off. All from the top. No need for an asst changed my idler pulley to from the top.
Yes but the four-cylinder in the V-6 model are totally different but thank you very much for sharing the technical information on removing the four-cylinder alternator . Have a great morning
Just a head up please put the year of the vehicle in the video title
I just sat in my 2005 for escape from 1030 at night till 5.00 o'clock the next morning waiting for a tow truck. Because I was driving and all of a sudden everything went black and the car shut off. On me and my wife .here i am today still trying to get the alternator out of the escape. I don't have the tool to take d off the reverse tork screw or bolt . Someone please help. Its our only vehicle.
Try using a regular six point socket on there probably a 8 mm or possibly a 6mm
The average person doesn't have the wherewithal or the tools to do this job properly so do the right thing and send them to a mechanic.
Now you need an alignment on an alternator swap. Classic Ford keeping shops in business.
I see what you’re trying to say here.
But to be honest with you I doubt you need an alignment after loosening them bolts. It never hurts to get an alignment every 20,000 miles because vehicles go over rocks and bumps generally when you loosen the bolts on the subframe you won’t need an alignment.
How did you get top bolt off
If I remember correctly a 12 inch extension with the 3/8 wobble 13 mm, 14 mm
