@Helge129 Max range of ATACMS for the MLRS is MUCH longer than that, you're talking over 350km. At least that's what we shot into Baghdad the 1st night. 2/4 Deep Attack!

@TheShota24 Uhm... PARS SAGE-227 F, the longest ranged missile the M270 uses as far as I know, has a range of 70km. The Smerch can fire at up to 90km. Operational range is not weapons range.
at hyyra, theres a fail safe mechanism installed to the system so it cant go off while in the shut down mode... It has t be made ready b4 it can be fired... I operated these badboys when i was in 39 Royal Artillery back in 90...

This looks more like precision strike artillery mobile tomahawk thing, do the americans have anything similiar to the numerous mlrs russians have that basicly cover a huge area in no time?
Absolutely nothing. You should ask what happens when you have a hang fire or a tube fire, and the rocket explodes. In the event of a hang fire, you stay in the cab for 30 minutes. If it blows up, make sure you have your seat belt on, because you are about to be tossed 300 yards. You'll be alive, but battered, maybe a broken bone or two.
thats not true. the HIMARS is in the Army and the Marines. It actually started in the army so they can Air drop them.. The MLRS couldnt be air dropped because it weighed so much. its the same as an MLRs except half the payload, and its not on tracks.

Depends on the missiles being launched, but they're capable of over 300km and Mach 3
how many MLRS battalions are in the army.
More expensive than howitzers and used less. They're great for symmetric warfare, not against people taking pop shots and planting IEDs.
