  • 02-06-25 S4E4 Trump's Plans for Gaza, and cutting funding to USAID
Co-Hosts Ray Hanania joins former Congressman Bill Lipinski on Two Guys on Politics to discuss President Trump’s call to take over the Gaza Strip, his executive orders through the Department of Government Efficiency headed by X CEO Elon Musk to suspend funding to USAID, and his efforts to try to suspend all federal grant and funding disbursements
Trump's proposal to take over Gaza might undermine the support the US has enjoyed with many of the Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, and other Gulf States. It is also fueling extremism and activists who point to the declaration as an example of how the US serves the interests of Israel.
On another issue, Lipinski and Hanania discuss what might be lost if Trump cuts all USAID funding as he has threatened? Trump's press secretary Karoline Leavitt has made the accusation that USAID provides $8 million in funding for annual subscriptions to Politico, and Trump has said that should be cut. There are many other programs, most international serving programs in 120 nations around the world, good and bad, that would be effected.
One issue is that Trump's goal to weed out bad funding is a good one but the way he is doing it, so drastically, may end up causing more problems than we think.
