I've still got the Humphrey the Bear totem pole that they gave me when I stayed at Wilderness Lodge before it officially opened in '94. I need a plush that does that "haaaah" noise he makes when you squeeze it
Like Tom, I too am very happy with this refresh. It's been a very long time coming. Boulder Ridge (formally the Villas at Wilderness Lodge) has been my home resort since it opened, and while I've stayed at other DVC accommodations throughout the "world", this is my absolute favorite. As I always book at the 11 month window, I've always been able to spend my Disney time here. The Wilderness Lodge has a very old school Disney feel, (maybe because it's off the beaten track) that has disappeared from most of the other resorts (IMO). My next 9 night stay is just 53 days away, and fingers are crossed that my request for a remodeled room is fulfilled. Thanks for the tour, Tom!
16:34 Hooray for toilet art!! I never gave it much thought before I started watching your room tours, but it’s something I’m always appreciating when I check into a hotel room now
Thank you my DVC home...I stayed in that exact (2nd floor middle in the wing) room many time.. it is nice but it seem to missing something.. one being no more large hot tub, yes it was so 80-90s..but ther is still something missing in style... Again thank you.. WIGS👍❤️👍❤️👍
WDW News. Tom, Well this is a nice upgrade. Yes some of the lighting in the bathrooms around the vanities is a bit on the dark side. The wall art really makes this villa. On one of the curtains you see the "Swimming Hole." This is a reference to the sadly missed "River Country." Where you could whoop 'n holler down white water rapids into the old-time swimmin' hole. a nice reminder. That's real Disney right there. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Good tour! May have been answered, I’m not going back through all the previous comments. You are correct on the room occupancy, it is 4 if a cash reservation. If using DVC points, 5 can stay but the owner has to provide their own sleep surface (air mattress) and bedding.
Thanks for showing us the refresh Tom! We are staying Boulder Ridge in July in a Studio so excited to see the improvements. You are right, it needed a refresh!
Wilderness Lodge and Boulder Ridge are our number one WDW resorts. First visit was in 2000 at the main hotel as the Villas were being built. Fortunate to have bought into Boulder Ridge in 2001 and have stayed there almost every year since. Without DVC, we never would have been so fortunate to enjoy so many great vacation stays at the Lodge. We often joke that it is where we raised our daughter who was just three years old on that first visit.❤️
Over all nice👍🥰 refurbishment. They should of checked too see if the refrigerator open properly and back lit the bathroom mirrors. Thanks for sharing 🤗
The most beautiful art of any room and hotel of Disney right now. WOW. Classic art style of Mickey and Freinds is so much better then that new runaway railway style. However, the room feels “cold”. Too much grey and white maybe? The walls need more color and more carpet maybe? Beds need themed bed runners, Covid aint an excuse no more (DCL beds still have them). LOVE Boulder Ridge ❤️. Thanks for the update! 🙏
Looks nice. Absolutely love Wilderness Lodge. We ate at Whispering Canyon a long time ago and that visit caused us to fall in love with the place. Now it’s our preferred stay.
LOVE this remodel. Perfect blend of tasteful theming and functionality while being mature enough to fit the “deluxe” category. Love the color palette and textural touches. May be my favorite remodel so far! Thanks for showing it to us!
I'm wearing my Wilderness Lodge hoodie while watching Tom, talk about how WL is one of his favorites. I feel so validated. Also, that Boulder Ridge room is definitely a northwest vibe including those textured walls. A corporate version of a John Muir approach. Not bad, but the wall art is what really makes this.
Love Wilderness Lodge. This is a nice refurb, master bedroom is great. Adequate night stands. Love the Keurig pot/single pod maker. I wish they could figure out how to put an extra toilet in these 1 bedrooms. Also missing the pull down single bed in the living area. My boys are older and don't love to sleep together so one always sleeps on the twin.
I like the rooms a lot. It's not a tower with tiny rooms so that alone is a plus. Strange though, it costs so little to upgrade to a Nespresso, wonder why are they putting Keurig's in? It's like upgrading to a DVD ROM instead of a SSD.
Well thanks Tom. After this video we purchased 250 point contract through resale. Love the Lodge and your video convinced my wife it was time. Thanks and looking forward to first DVC trip from Canada as owners. Cheers sir 🥃
Great vid but disagree with ya Tom about the mirror in the entry. I think its supposed to be like a rail car window… at least to my wife and I . Just go have an old fashioned at Territory Lounge and you’ll agree. Keep up the good fight, enjoy your perspective.
Hey Tom, I’m thinking the map on the curtains is the same map Mickey has in the picture. The trees look the same. Just a guess. Thanks for the Tour. 👍🏼 -Melinda
Thank you for the review and tour. I noticed that while you have some cook ware (looked like bowls and casserole pans) I did not notice any sauce pans or frying pans. Were they maybe just hidden in the stove?
Those appliances and the wall there are going to get beat up due to the poor space planning of the fridge and stove ...they probably could flip the fridge doors and cut down that wall a smidge.
No kidding. I occasional scour eBay and Etsy for Humphrey stuff but it's slim pickings. I would buy one of everything if they made Humphrey the focal character of the WL and surrounding resorts ( Ft Wilderness, cottages, etc. )
Great looking room and they did very well with the refurb- I wasn’t that impressed on early photos but it’s lovely when filmed properly. But, and a big but.. on the 1 beds it is a massive shame it doesn’t have the under TV murphy and less sleep surfaces than a studio. That means with our two teenage kids, boy and girl, it’s not suitable which is mad really. 1930s vibe in the bedroom with the wallpaper.
I think I like this new remodel Tom, it’s certainly smarter than the last atrocious revamp they did when we last stayed here. Saying that we’ve still booked the Contemporary Tower for our next stay even after your review of it. Cheers for the tour Tom.
They need a door leading to where the bathtub is. Closing the bedroom door doesn't do it. Trade in the wooden soap holders for doors. Tom's right....we want an iron and ironing board. I can only imagine the price of this room😲
love the refresh only thing is i don't like that they did carpet in the bedroom. would have preferred tile, wood floor but like i said overall a very good refresh BR is one of my home resorts.
Hi. Thanks for the video. If you had to choose between courtyard view at Wilderness Lodge or standard or pool view at Animal Kingdom Lodge, which would you choose? For reference, we normally stay at Beach Club but want something new. Thanks!
Just got back from the cabins. They need to be better cleaned. Especially the base board edges. The shower need to be redone. But it was ok for our needs Loved driving a golf cart.
Boulder Ridge is a little less convenient than Copper Creek location wise, but it feels a lot more peaceful and secluded. A very good tradeoff in my opinion.
I don't know if i was standing in this unit, if i would realize that i was at Disney. I think they should have done more Disney touches throughout like the living room.
I absolutely am a fan of this refurbishment, but I can tell you my husband will feel compelled to reverse the fridge door. That may be what's wrong with it. It opens the wrong way. Do you know what percentage of rooms have been done? And when it's slated to be completed?
We plan to visit in July. I like the remodel overall, but the bathroom is a huge flop for me. The tub is a downgrade for sure, and I’m going to miss the deer and leaf tiles xD
Dare I say these appeal to me better than copper creek. Copper creek villas are beautiful but not thrilled with the layout, the galley kitchen and seems to have a smaller living room area. I like the layout of these better.
I don’t really understand Tom when it comes to hotels. He doesn’t like the more modern style with whites and more bright colors but to me this is a very modern update. Now I like it but from everything I’ve heard Tom say about modern hotels at Disney, he should hate this but he doesn’t. To me this looks about the same as what the new Disneyland villas or even the Poly DVC tower yet Tom doesn’t like those. No hate to Tom but I don’t understand how these rooms are crazy different from the other modern rooms Disney is leaning towards.
How does this look the same? It has colors and theme indicative of the location. There’s props like the lantern and vases, the curtains are very in-theme, as are some lighting fixtures. There’s custom carpet and wallpaper with character to them. I do not feel at all the same about Poly or DLH.
@@WDWNT There are definitely some in theme elements to this hotel. The prints above the dining room table and the curtains are the best but if we base it off the concept art for the DLH villas or even from what I can tell from the Poly tower (which I like the design of, just not the location). It isn’t just a pure white modern looking design with no character or charm in it. Every Disney hotel has charm, some more than others but when I look at certain places in this room (mainly the kitchen) it just feels very plain and un-themed compared to when you look out into the living area or even the bedroom. I like this room but to me this room and the upcoming ones at DLH villas look pretty similar in terms of aesthetic and design themes. Just with more IP at the Disneyland ones which I don’t mind as I feel they use it more creatively and it’s not just modern IP’s.
This rooms looks like a mess lol. So many different colors and patterns everywhere. I do really like those recessed nightstands in the wall next to the murphy bed.

Thank You for the room tour, they did a wonderful job with the update. This was our 2nd DVC purchase and love it there.

Oh, so it's the same floor plan as the one bedroom units at Boardwalk. Neat. (That's our home resort and where we always stay.)
The money they would make if they sold those four prints over the dining table…
Great Anchorman line!!! 😂😂😂
I’m here now!!! Love the rooms!
Miss the green dishes with the large soup bowls. Always planned hearty soups for my family in those bowls. Really miss them.

Ok, the wall art next to the bathtub looks GREAT

Love Humphrey! I got a mug at DCA that was in the shape of his face, and a pin. Totally agree, need more Humphrey merch, the ranger too.
Wilderness is my favorite resort. It blows my mind the price difference between WL and other deluxe resorts.
Are they still planning on discontinuing the H2o products? In December they still had the soap and lotion at the Polynesian, too.
We're staying there this fall- looking forward to it!!
Can’t wait for our first stay in December! Thanks for this 😊
FINALLY! now we'll see how difficult it is to book there as a Member. Thanks Tom!!
The Wilderness Lodge is the greatest hotel Disney has ever made!!! 90s imagineering

The best part of this video is Tom’s concerted attempt to keep the sarcasm and snark low and remain professional 😂
The perfect cast!
Looks nice. Absolutely love Wilderness Lodge. We ate at Whispering Canyon a long time ago and that visit caused us to fall in love with the place. Now it’s our preferred stay.
Agree Tom! More Humphrey merch! I have a tiny Humphrey plush along with park ranger Woodlore. I'd love to get more though!

Corporate John Muir 🤣

Definitely our fav resort!
Great video pal, I will look into spending a couple of nights at the resort. Wowza. It sure is magnificent

That mirror looks like a Target back to school dorm special.

It didn’t align, I thought the same thing at first
Did it always have the stucco walls? Nice touch.
Thank you for the review and tour. I noticed that while you have some cook ware (looked like bowls and casserole pans) I did not notice any sauce pans or frying pans. Were they maybe just hidden in the stove?
Yeah just hidden
Anyone know when they will be done with this refurb(love it 😍) hoping some are ready by September...
Those appliances and the wall there are going to get beat up due to the poor space planning of the fridge and stove ...they probably could flip the fridge doors and cut down that wall a smidge.
we need a humphrey wilderness lodge collection!!!!!!!!!!!

...PS! Please look out ALL windows lol. (Bedroom window missed) Good review!
The theme is there, but it still looks to me like a budget inn in Santa Fe.
"I don't know where you are in your relationship" LOL. Why are there two bathrooms, but one toilet?? Rather have two toilets and one shower.
The fridge issue would be solved if they removed the baseboard trim from the wall against the fridge. I bet they forgot that was going in.
How similar are the deluxe Studio rooms in Boulder Ridge??
Is the National Parks artwork available for purchase?
I think I like this new remodel Tom, it’s certainly smarter than the last atrocious revamp they did when we last stayed here. Saying that we’ve still booked the Contemporary Tower for our next stay even after your review of it. Cheers for the tour Tom.
We need Humphrey plush and more merch!!
Oh my goodness - I just thought of this - Big foot Humphrey!!! Are you listening Disney???
Have the two bedrooms currently in available inventory been done yet?
Everything has been done
@@WDWNT it’s a little strange that the two bedrooms don’t have the Murphy bed.
They need a door leading to where the bathtub is. Closing the bedroom door doesn't do it. Trade in the wooden soap holders for doors. Tom's right....we want an iron and ironing board. I can only imagine the price of this room😲
These rooms have extremely attractive point charts compared to some of the newer resorts like Riviera. Similar to old Key West and Boardwalk.
We just left BRV and were the first occupants in a 2BR dedicated on the 5th floor. Brand new iron and ironing board. No steamer.
love the refresh only thing is i don't like that they did carpet in the bedroom. would have preferred tile, wood floor but like i said overall a very good refresh BR is one of my home resorts.

Not if you want to go to the quiet pool and Geyser Point
@@WDWNT and the bus stop and Sturdy Branches. Lots of pluses to BRV.
It’s really disappointing they didn’t put in the jacuzzi tubs. I utilize mine all the time at Animal Kingdom Lodge
No thanks. You can’t fully sanitize a jacuzzi tub between uses and there’s no way I want to be stewing in someone else’s filth.
I don't know if i was standing in this unit, if i would realize that i was at Disney. I think they should have done more Disney touches throughout like the living room.

Not the best room ever seen, but it’s well done! 🙌

Can’t believe that Disney doesn’t know you shouldn’t put a mirror in-front of a door 😮
It would be nice if you could show on a mp the location of the room that you are showing. Both in the hotel and a wider view.
We only ever do one room so I’m not sure of the value
It’s a geode theme
Measure twice buy once😂
The remodel continues to have the flawed shower design. You have to enter the shower completely top turn the water on, not an improvement.
It’s not a cabin, it doesn’t need time to warm up
Home resort, DVC member since 2001, the shower design stinks, period
