If Sid & Co. could have THIS much fun during the sleepy days of Ike, just think what hay (or should that be Hey!) they could have made of our current times! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, he did. Sid played sax and clarinet in a number of big bands before he became a full-time comedian. Check out the clip of him on sax doing "Sing, sing, sing" with Benny Goodman ruclips.net/video/yCxAi0uFg7w/видео.html Not bad considering he hadn't played professionally for over 10 years at that point. He also played the sax and occasionally the clarinet on Your Show of Shows. --kjh
He was indeed playing it. Sid played the sax a number of times on Your Show of Shows, usually swing numbers (on one episode, he also played clarinet--he was good on that, too). No suits that required feeding on those episodes, however :) --kjh
OMG, this is my very favorite Sid Caesar character. I watch this over and over again.
He has certainly had a resurgence in popularity in recent years. Great!!!
Great, very aware, hip take on jazz, getting high etc/very unusual for tv in the 50's. Always thot these were some of the smartest bits.

?
I think he really played that!
Bravo!

Good! Keep it up!
SOLID!
Caesar was a competent jazz saxophonist and probably actually played that axe in this clip. Unless he was too busy feeding his suit.

Watched this show before I knew it was one.
kings of comedy but I never liked their spoofing rock and jazz. America was too square in the fifties.
