The knock on the d-sport is the same as the d606, the front wears quickly. The rear, however, wears longer but has slightly less road manners than the 606 in my experience. As already posted, the Scorpion Rally front makes a great pairing with either the 606 or Tusk.
The d sport has such poor traction on the road, it really falls behind the 606. I can very easily engage the abs after switching to them. They’ll be off as soon as I can stomach wrestling them again as they’re extremely stiff.
Ive tried one of the Tusk Waypoint rears on my 690, and with a fair bit of flattracking and hooliganism on dirt, and 70 mph cruising on road, Im still gonna get 4000 miles out of it. A record for me with a knobby. Cant even tell its a knobby on road, not much. Not the most aggressive tire obviously on dirt, but hey its a dualsport bike and gets ridden everywhere. Id buy another. The Tusk copy of a 606 I tried on the front, is for sure worse on road than a 606, it wanders, it makes more noise, not confidence inspiring. But is pretty good on dirt. 606 rears on my DR650, were slicks at 2000 miles, they just dont last long. And now they are Expensive!
Lately I have used the Kenda Classic. They are cheap and are the old 4 x 5 knobby pattern. They are DOT and decent all around. The Tusk tires, I also have used them on my DR650.
My favorite on the plated XR650R was the Motoz extreme hybrid rear with the Mt21 front. Hooked up great everywhere. Also ran the 606’s and when brand new were great in the dirt but they’re so hard and stiff the traction only lasted a little while.
MotOz Enduro S/T and I/T - 130/90 rear and the 90/100 front is my absolute favorite combination for a dirt-focused bike that's still just cheeky enough to be road legal with DOT approval. They don't last long off road and will wear even faster on pavement - especially rears on my T7, but that's mostly on me having being heavy on the throttle because I like angry parallel twin noises lmao - but I don't care what they cost or how long they last because they just work. The RallZ front/rear is my favorite setup for a bike used as a true 50-50 'dual sport' that gives up a tiny bit of wet / sloppy dirt performance for a little more longevity and pavement manners.
Just ordered another 606 rear tyre for the DRZ. Tried a few less aggressive offroad tyres, but the 606 is a good, honest off (and on!) road performer. Nothing is perfect, but they're pretty close 👍
I ran 606 front and rear on my ktm 500. On road it worked fine. Never experienced the front wheel issues people complain about. It's wet where i live, never had any issues on wet pavement. Off road it was fine as long as the trails were relatively flowy and not too steep. When the terrain transitioned to "hard enduro", it became pretty useless.
using 908rr and 606 on tenere. first OFFROAD tyres ever used besides 50-50 tyres. i was amazed i could brake with the front!!! on dry highway with high pressure they are fine. hard braking is tricky though if needed. might try front mt21 when my 606 ends. combined with 908rr
@@keithturner5769 I had Metzeler MC360 mid and hard, at last I use Michelin Tracker on my XT 600/153kg. Better Traction dry/wet, better Control (front wheel control is very well). Certainly: Fast cornering with an MX front tyre is poor. But the control I have with the TRACKER is great.
I hated the mt21 front personally. I prefer the IRC VE-35 Volcanduro if I'm not worried about longevity and the TKC80 for longer trips with occasional road riding.
Michelin TRACKER! For my opinion best mix of different worlds. On my XT600 since 2020. 60% Road. (noisy, longlife, cold & wet traction onroad really good for this kind of road legal MX tyres) On my EXC 300 too since 2021. Not the same traction like an Supersoft blablabla, but I know. If I can't climb it up, 80% it's my fault. And this now 4 year old tyre I will use 2 years longer, I guess. (99,9% Offroad) Disadvantage: Expensive.
Mitas Terra Force EX MH Super Light Tires front and back on a Beta 390 rrs. Tires are loud on the road, but good in the trails, even when it's muddy. I go about 60mph on asphalt but I don't go above 50mph on concrete, the front tire wants to go everywhere on concrete.
Yes. It’s the best road legal knobbie you can buy. I’ve had…idk maybe 10+ pairs on 5+ different bikes over the years? Once you get on D606 nothing else compares
Ive got one on the front of my 690 currently, it does work better offroad than it looks like it would. Im not so sure about banging it thru the rocks, as far as how tough the carcass might be. Its been fine so far and is great on road.
I think I'll try the Motoz H/T. I currently have Michelin Enduro Medium but find myself doing too many miles with friends using trail bikes, and they don't last. Just want something with aggressive knobbies but longer lasting.
I want to try the enduro mediums next, the old MT21 + D606 are way worse than the new EN91 for my riding (50/50 on/off road on a KTM350 EXCF) but I always want more.

Been using Mt21 Front and rear on My CRF 250L. for past 4 years (due to COVID did not get many miles out of it for a year) been very happy, when i bought them not sure what happened to Dunlop prices in Europe that year, but Rear D606 would cost me 160+EUR, and i bought a set of Front/Rear Mt21 for 155 EUR (running 130/80/18 in the back normal 90/90/21 front). currently most of my friends run Metzeler MC360, been thinking of switching to those as well just to try something new, in the same price range as MT21 at least where i live :)

D606 read + MT21 front. That's the goat.

D606 rear and Pirelli scorpion rally front is the best combo I have found
+1. Great combo.

I always run Kenda Trakmaster DOT tires since they're much more dirt oriented than any other Knobbies I can find and they're fairly cheap

Yeah, I agree... fine for most situations but the more extreme the riding, the less useful they become.

The Karoo, TKC 80, and E-09 are not in the same category as the 606. Wonder how the Motoz Desert HT does in the wet/mud?
Metzler MC360 mid/hard. Michelin Trackers is also a great tire for bikes up to 150kg.
Tracker rear is decent but front is poor IMHO
@@keithturner5769 I had Metzeler MC360 mid and hard, at last I use Michelin Tracker on my XT 600/153kg. Better Traction dry/wet, better Control (front wheel control is very well).

WR250r I like p21 front & trackmaster rear in NE Tennessee USA
Take a look at the EN91. Better offroad traction and cheaper.

D606 rear and D Geomax 81F front works for me on an XR650L
Kenda 270 Front
Motoz Rear
Yes. It’s the best road legal knobbie you can buy. I’ve had…idk maybe 10+ pairs on 5+ different bikes over the years? Once you get on D606 nothing else compares
I'd say the Metzeler Karoo and the TKC 80 are much more road oriented. Would definitely not consider them an 80-20, more a 50-50.
You should try the Bridgestone battlax adventucross ax 41.
Ive got one on the front of my 690 currently, it does work better offroad than it looks like it would. Im not so sure about banging it thru the rocks, as far as how tough the carcass might be. Its been fine so far and is great on road.

The holy grail... a long lasting knobby. It's not as aggressive as the D606 but I find the Motoz Rallz rear lasts forever on the DR650.
I want to try the enduro mediums next, the old MT21 + D606 are way worse than the new EN91 for my riding (50/50 on/off road on a KTM350 EXCF) but I always want more.

That's a crazy price for the rear D606!
