Yes, those are boat-tailed grackles...lovely birds! They're shinier and have longer tails than the common grackles. They're excellent to have on your property because they are one of the first to sound a predator alarm if something comes too close. Hi guys - time for my weekly novel/comment, haha. I figure I can write as long of a comment as I want to knowing full well that nobody *has* to read it! Happy Mother's Day, Tara! I had a very quiet one, but at least I got to see my kiddo this year. She came over for (delivered) dinner and she cut my hair. She's just moved back from Vancouver BC since she's now done college. First time I've had her here for Mother's Day in 2 years💕. Those breakfast burritos looked very yummy. That was such a nice thing for you to do for your girl, Mark. Do you do a fair bit of cooking? As always, it was great to see all the critters. Petey and Piper have definitely slimmed down when compared to the photo you've shown a few times of their size when they came to you. I cannot believe anyone would let their animal get that size - it is cruel, in my opinion, since there's no way they are living their best life when carrying around that much excess weight. I mean, their bellies barely cleared the floor! Did you ever know what they weighed when they were brought in to you? Do you have any idea, or way of finding out what they weigh now? I used to always have to stop and think about which piggy is Petey and which is Piper. The first time I watched, I assumed that Piper was the one that had the white "piping" around the middle, lol. Now I have to remind myself it's the opposite, though I've pretty much got them figured out now😉. So good to see that last week's snow has melted. It was a lovely day here today, but it's been quite chilly and rainy here for the last several days. I've been painting up a storm and selling quite a few art cards. Mostly to friends of family, but that's how it gets started, I guess. It seems that for every one person I sell a package of 6 to, I have at least one person call and order some, so it's been busy, but so much fun and so good for the soul. I wanted to send you one, Tara, for Mother's Day but have been kind of behind on them since I had another fall the other day. I may still send ya one, just because. The animals look great! Meadow's mane is beautiful - so long and wavy. Those ponies are so dang cute. I had NO clue that ANY duck was a meat-eater! Watching the Muscovy duck eat the mouse was shocking to me, lol. Have a great week, folks! I look forward to the Sunday videos - learning there may be a bonus one this coming week is fun to know!
