東京商事の新入社員とおる君は、同じ新入社員のみゆきちゃんとデートの約束をしている。しかし、彼の上司の悪山課長は、今日を彼に残業を命じる。そこで、とおる君は、オフィスからの脱出を決意するのであった。ゲームのルールは、悪山課長たちをかわしながらみゆきちゃんのハートを集めていくこと。そして、とおる君の唯一の攻撃方法は、なんとヘッドバットである。全5面。余談だが、BGMにはビートルズの「ア・ハードデイズナイト」が使われている。

Shinnyuushain Tooru-Kun was released in October 1984. The title of this game translates from Japanese as 'New Employee Tooru-kun'. It is known outside Japan as "Mikie".
The classroom level plays the song 'A Hard Day's Night' by The Beatles. The Gym Level plays 'Twist and Shout', the Medley/Russell song made famous by the Fab Four.

Without a doubt one of the most bizarre classic games of the arcade era. Only looks easy but it's actually VERY difficult to master. This is best I've seen it played, thanks for the video my friend!

I could finish the game when I was a secondary school student. I remember if you only get the shining hearts, you can get higher marks.

ルールがイマイチよく分からんが、お辞儀が武器って発想が面白い、こういう自由な発想のゲームが出てた頃が一番ゲームが楽しかった時代かもしれんな
元々は高校生が主役やったんやが、青少年に悪いということで新入社員という設定になったんやで・・・（´ω｀）
In the "Mikie" version, the character was changed to a blond haired punk of sorts as the focus of the game was now set in an American high school of sorts (the coats used as the life counter was now changed to the US flag for instance). Other alterations include the first room that is now called a "Classroom", though the names of the other rooms/locales remained though they could've renamed the "Restaurant" to a "Cafeteria" since that is a more common term for where kids go to eat in school (I noticed it was called a "Canteen" in one version). The cops/guards in the "Garden" were replaced with football players, though the area might as call have been called a "School Yard" or "Campus Grounds" instead.
Honestly, regardless of it being in a school or a corporate office, your soul feels dead in either place.

So I guess that Mikie was originally Office Space, the 1984 Japanese version, right?
I actually dig more with Tooru than Mikie.
Mikie it's just a michievous highschool student who seek thrills by ditching the school in order to stay with his girlfriend Mandy.
I feel like Tooru is stressed and frustated like Bill Foster (Falling down), angry and aggressive like Trevor Philips from GTA 5, fed up like Barry Thomas (AKA: Big Bear) that confronts Mark Wayne (AKA: B Dup) from GTA San Andreas, violent like the Right Hand Man from Henry Stickmin, Tooru will brutally attack his rude bosses and his selfish coworkers out of frusted anger.
Tooru should be untouchable when he's in rage mode, the office managers didn't care for pushing the red buttons, so they pushed it anyway and causing Tooru going on frustrated rampage, not only to get him fired but get him in trouble, like he was set up.
Tooru's office managers are meaner than Mikie's school teachers.
Tooru will absolutely not let his enemies escape from his frustrated wrath.
So I root for Tooru because he had truly enough of managers' petty authority and decided to bust himself out from this troublesome nightmare with violent force, he also will stand up against meaningless work overtime and will fiercely fend off unwanted disciplinary actions.
Miyuki longed for Tooru but Tooru couldn't spend time properly with or support Miyuki due of Tooru's ungrateful corporate office bosses and coworkers.
If Tooru doesn't spend time with Miyuki for too long, Tooru will become very vengenful and very violent like Ed (Little Ed Blue episode from Ed, Edd & Eddy) and like an unknown man turned into a metallic Frankenstein creature-like (Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare episode from Looney Tunes).
まさにアメリカンな会社、ってカンジが出てて良い。
BGMもアメリカン・・・ビートルズだけど。
これが出た頃は著作権やらにそこまでうるさくなかった時代だったんですね。
それだけに、こういうバカゲーがいろいろあったんですが・・・もう、こんな時代はないと思うとさみしくなります。

今現在なら、ネタとしてならまだしも大真面目な商品としては世に出せんよな、コンプライアンス的に。

Wikipediaだとこんな表記がありました。
ショーに出展されたロケテストバージョンでは設定が「高校生が学校から抜け出す」というものであったが、開発当時は校内暴力が問題化していたことも影響してか、製品化の際は設定を「新入社員が会社から抜け出す」に変更してリリースされた[1]。それに伴いグラフィックも変更されているが、オフィスなのに教室のような机の配置や、バスゲットボールがある更衣室など、アイテムや背景などの随所にその名残が見られる。その代わりに海外版 "Mikie"（マイキー）で当初予定していた設定で発売され、グラフィックはアメリカのハイスクール風となっている。
