Micah, when you drill your ice holes, drill the inside of the hold out at a slight angle, or drill a double hole, you will have less fish get caught up on the ice preventing hook popouts! I always try to clean out the bottom of my holes so they cant snag up on it.

Just a suggestion, I would use lighter line (4-6 pound mono) You would get more bites. Also, lighten your drag a little, that way the fish won’t come off. That’s what seems to work

I’m from texas fished all my life salt and fresh water and went to school at CSU in Fort Collins. The lake freezes for a reason because no person should go through the hell of ice fishing. I get it northern people have nothing else to do but it’s a complete nightmare. Never go with anyone that ever invites you and tells you “it will be so much fun you’ll love it!” I will never do that nonsense again!

To make a long story short, I love that your language is clean (I don't mind some excitement language, but we didn't hear any in the several videos we watched, I like that your creative and I let him sub and I went ahead and subbed to.! Personally the tip up pay the most are set right under the ice I call trout ice licker I let not more than 3 or 4 f of line and it’s avoid the perch to and a free spool is really important when you target trout that’s why you miss so much fish
Ice fishing is a nightmare! I had friend in college that convinced me to go with him and his dad up in northern whyoming and it wasn’t a long drive from forth Collins Colorado they even had a shed on skies but literally all you do is get drunk and freeze your butt off. You catch fish but heck I can wait til spring when the rivers or reservoirs melt I don’t need to sleep on a cot wondering if the propane heater and weight of the shed is going to collapse through the ice while I’m already freezing. Ice fishing is the worst fishing experience I’ve ever had. I’ve had nightmares sleeping thinking I was dieing then I wake up. Ice fishing is just that a nightmare that at some point you hope you wake up it’s so miserable don’t ever let one of your friends talk you into going ice fishing no matter how many times they say it’s awesome it’s fun it’s great you will have a fantastic time.
