When man merges with machine, Fenriz is the only human consciousness worthy of being preserved and surviving for all eternity. Fenriz is humanity's treasure.
Dude is almos 50 and he hasn’t aged one year. God, the metal life stile keep your youthful days intact. Anyway, I’m pretty sure Fenriz is the guy who rescues all the Norwegian kids that get lost while filming their amateur BM videos in the forest.
I love his connection to distorted guitar being like most or snow spray, a synesthesia-like thing where the onomatopoeic timbre is like a natural element
it's always great to see Fenriz. thanks to him and DARKTHRONE I'm a big fan of Darkthrone & Black Metal bands. as a Dutch guy I always wanted to learn the Norwegian language it's fascinating.
I created a couple of playlists of Fenriz's non metal albums/artists that he recommended or talked about in various interviews. Amebix is part of it, but there is so much more, the man is a music nerd, and way more open minded than your average metalhead!
Jan Pospíšil - My thoughts exactly. And hell, any other cat(s) who seemingly dig the music of *Death Side / Sacrilege / Puke / GBH & Asta Kask* as much as a old fucker like myself does, always warrants the utmost respect in my books, as well. And most definitely *Fenriz* is no exception to that rule in that regard either.
Being Fenriz´s age and into Metal for at least the same years he is I can safely say that when I 1st purchased this LP it was the equivalent of listening to Celtic Frost´s "Morbid Tales " or/and Bathory´s "The return ". A milestone indeed. Title says it all.
"Its just Radka Toneff, for now, who sets a smaller ecological footprint than DarkThrone. And that is of course because she is deceased" Hard to argue against that :D
Varg is probably seething in his dry toilet hearing Gylve say that lol. "My kids give my family a larger ecological footprint than him! DAMN IT, GYLVE! YOU WIN AGAIN!" hahaha
That sound... pure magic. If only modern music, even the most complex and proggy one, could sound this way... to me the sound of early Led Zep and King Crimson, as well as Darkthrone of course, is still unparalleled. I can barely imagine how amazing bands like Tool or Kayo Dot would sound today if only they would record their music this way.
I too loved when my Dad drove through puddles. The wave of water and the powerful rush of distorted white noise that came with it. That to me is Black Metal 🤘🏽
Wasn't a fan of Black Metal last year, but lately I've been getting into some of the first wave stuff, like Venom, Bathory, Hellhammer, and (early) Sodom, and I've been creeping ever closer to second wave like Darkthrone and Gorgoroth, so we'll see how it goes!
Depends on which meaning of 'cold' you're after. Cold as a noun is 'kulde' and sounds nothing like it, but cold as an adjective is 'kaldt' (or 'kald' depending on the gender of the noun it describes) and definitely sounds a lot like 'cult' now that you mention it. :)
We are about to have a baby and are going to name him Fenris (with nods to this guy and also the wolf in norse mythology). The more i see and hear from Fenriz the more i like him, just seems like a really chilled dude.
One thing I really respect about Fenriz is he simply loves music rather then being a elitest or kvlt about it. I feel the same way about Darkthrone in general... Though every album by them has that dirty bite to it, it still sounds like Darkthrone regardless and they didn't care about being 100% pure. As fundamental as everyone says Darkthrone can be, I feel they are the best black metal band.
Norwegian black metal started with Mayhem, pure and simple. Black metal is not really a musical style at all, it can be complicated or primitive, fast or slow, necro sounding or well-produced, as long as the spirit is there. But the song Freezing Moon was completely done in the typical Norwegian style, and was officially released on the (death metal) compilation "Projections of a Stained Mind" in 1990.

This video feels like you just found Fenriz walking in the woods by coincidence and decided to interview him
yohohohhoho indeed
I assure you it was planned this way...he is after all the spokesman for "black metal"
That's because they did, that's what I'm choosing to believe
Can't wait to hear "Old-Growth Forest Preservation!" on the next Darkthrone album

I still remember when I first hear Kaatharian Life Code, that last part made the hairs on my arm stick up,it was so badass. Blaze is a damn good album.
AGREE!
I remember being so confused when hearing the two different Darkthrones (one melodic death metal one black)
I remember first time hearing the opening. Goosebumps.
