Super grateful for the platform that Howard provided back in the day. hard to ignore how gracious Gilbert was to play that roll, taking the shots and still happy to do all those bits and impressions.
I listened to this episode a bunch but I never caught the part about Billy West doing voices for Gilbert while he was in the hospital recovering. Thats very sweet.
Wig lost his ability to determine when he ran something into the ground (Fake Agent and Wilding's Rocky Pendergast calls come to mind) but rehashing Gilbert begging for pajamas and thermometer never gets old.
Frankly, a little bit of overkill on the George Thorogood intro bit. Gosh, it’s so long ago that Howard and Gilbert did some of these bits. Let me see I Miss Gilbert dearly and also now in Richard Belzer as well. Hopefully they are making the angels piss in their pants up and heaven. God bless Gilbert Gottfried in Richard Belzer. Peace.
I seem to remember part of this clip that isn’t here? Robin was talking about people protesting the death penalty being carried out, and one of the protesters name was a real heeb name and Gilbert said “Ja Ja Ja Ja Jew!” To the bad to the bone theme. Am I imagining things
He's Ed Sullivan. The host of a variety show that was immensely popular and incredibly lucrative, but who himself wasn't particularly funny or impressive with music or dance.
God, I remember this bit vividly. I haven’t been able to listen to “BTTB” without laughing since.
I have an incredibly similar problem with "let's dance" by Bowie

It's funny that belzer read a paper. For the amount of grief he gave howard and Robin, assuming it's true, I would expect him to do the same.

Not gonna lie Howard was the worst part of this episode, and quite a few others.
Howard is Jerry Seinfeld. Never the funniest or most interesting on his show but gets all the credit and money.
Howard was consistently the worst part of the Howard Stern Show.
