I love love love the idea of Dreadnaught characters/Warlords. I know it's better on a Telemon but I just want a warlord Galatus with the +++5 leading the battle charge so bad.
Was telling my friends my next army was gonna be a Mech Custodes list even though it would be crap, NOT ANYMORE. That Ares Gunship is tempting still undecided though
@@drgnvale nah, it fixes some issues that should never have existed… it makes stuff work to what it should have been to start. The detatchments should mean you actually have viability with other options, this just doesn’t do that. It’s probably our third best strategy after talons and shield host. Dreads should be 8” move on the datasheet it shouldn’t be a detatchment rule. Bikes still suck every in this. It’s just not what we needed at all
I would have preferred the boost to walker movement as a data sheet fix rather than only in a specific detachment. But now I get to run the ForgeWorld list and maybe take it a little more seriously 😊

TiL they gave the Telemon more attacks if running double fist. A quite subtle update I totally missed (I've been playing Necromunda and haven't kept up with 40k lately). I am excited about this. I have never been impressed in my local games with shooty Telemons, but double fist Telemons have never disappointed (until 10th killed their stats). I feel like they are back now!
I wonder if the fight on death strat allows you to fight twice with a venerable contemptor if it gets destroyed twice in the fight phase? The Strat reads “each time a model in your unit is destroyed”
What is with people stating they are wanting to take double Fist Telemons over Fist and Gun? Am I missing something about 2 Fists, like an attribute gained such as more attacks or twinlinked? Or are they just Fists go pow! melee above all type players?
Is it possible we want to go Assault Cannon on the Venerables? Or perhaps a full gunboat Telemon? It seems like volume fire might be something we could be missing if we don't watch out.
I agree. Dreadnought melee and the Tanks are the anti-vehicles. If there is an option for anti-infantry/horde guns, you should take it or suffer the unending swarm of OC and accuracy by volume attacks. All Telemons take a Fist and gun. 1 telemon gunboat. Any Achillus takes the double bolters.
@@defeatedhusband1593 I still prefer the flamers on the Achillus I think. And the new boosted bolter profile on Vertus Praetors seems like it might go a long way towards solving any volume fire issue this detachment might have.
@RConnickJr I can see the bikes doing work if it isn't an Opps All Dreadnoughts list. I stated bolters due to having enough range to either keep them scare and away or enough +2 shots to still hurt any light infantry that gets too close. Achillus charging a light infantry unit is not ideal for its weapon profile. Flamers or bolters will still do what it needs to do to kill or scare the unit away. Yes flamers auto hit but it could be 2 hits or 12. Bolters at the same range will be hitting on 2s with a guaranteed 12 shots. Strength on both is fine for wounding on average. Damage is equal too. So I guess it comes down to luck of the dice rolls on the flamer verses the +2 hit on bolts. Obviously before any modifiers and shenanigans from either side. That said, I am happier with where bikes are now even though this Detachment is the only one that seems ideal for them at this moment. But... do you know why people are saying go double Fist telemon?

I'd have much rather had a detatchment that didn't force us to use dreads. But Meh whatever, I've learnt not to get my hopes up with Custodes anymore with GW.
@ it’s all about making some poor data sheets work to where they should have been working to start It doesn’t mean we now have good stuff like stuff should be good and detatchment makes it competitive Fixing internal balance so some stuff can be used sure it’s casual fun but it’s not competitive imho
Playing Custodes without FW/other available online cheaper equivalents is a bit like ice skating up hill, especially for a vehicle detachment. Good thing there is 4 other detachments that are available that did nothing for the FW range you can fall back on.
@@thatmanfredi don't own fw because l can't afford it. Two 170$ tanks , plus import tanks and 23% Vat is too much on a 450$ monthly salary. And GW decided tgat instead of fun lists with guards, bikes or terminators, custodes building suppose to start with fw , non custodes, sos etc
@piotrjeske4599 Auric Champions, Shield Host. Literally half of the existing detachments already focus on the generic plastic lads. This is something new. You really are living down to the reputation of custodes players of always finding something to complain about.
Even less reason reason to even roll dice , just go straight to a saves lol , how buffs? Gws looking to clear some f world stuff before they get rid of them for 11th ..dont fall into the money trap Happy for custodes how ever
As custodies player I’m disapointed, it’s bad it’s not a good detatchment, dreads get 5 attacks or 8 attacks, that’s just not many so we lose our volume and kill much less Like yes it makes dreads useable but not better than talons or shield host

Love this detachment tbh, can’t afford dreads, but I would love to see them on tables, the achillus is my favorite model in the game

custodies land raider moves 10, but yeah... still a 20 inch threat range.
