  • A short trip in my son's 1923 Austin 20 Sports. It has a 3.6 litre four cylinder flat head engine with a high compression head, Claudel Hobson carb, high lift cam, close ratio gearbox, high ratio rear axle and delivers 90 horse power. Top speed is about 90 MPH which is very exciting with only cable brakes working on the rear wheels. Only 50 of these were built by the factory. One of them was timed at 105 MPH at Brooklands.

Since this stylish car is called the SPORTS model, could you give us some details, such as top "speed", b h p , and acceleration?

This is the car currently for sale but now with beaded edge tyres? Is it owned by someone else now?

+Frazer Sloan Sorry for the delay in answering your question as I have only just seen your question. Yes, this is the same car and is one of only two survivors, the other one being owned by Tony Smallbone in Birmingham. By the way, I keep watching your ads as I would like to add a Model A to keep my 1914 Ford company in the garage at some point.

Thanks John. I decided to keep the Delage and buy an Alvis 12/50 to compliment it rather than having one big car like the Austin 20. Regarding Ford Model As. Although the plan was to keep it, I have the bridging model between Model T and Model A, the AR. With multiplate clutch, single shaft braking system, right hand handbrake etc. With Tudor coachwork en-route from Australia with right hand drive and 24hp as we speak. E mail or call if you're interested.

      Hi Frazer,
Yes, the car now has the correct wheels and tyres. As we missed the car so much we bought it back into our ownership last summer. Incidentally, the car now has the correct bronze Claudel Hobson carb as well as a new water heated manifold. Performance is superb with 70 plus easily obtained.
Do you have any Ford model A cars available?
