Popchock’s Player of the Night for Week 1 of the Ice Castle 3-vs.-3 Elite Hockey League, presented by Solyco Advisors, is Team Saloon goaltender Kyle McLaughlin!
The youngest player on the team at age 17, McLaughlin proved that age is just a number by putting up some numbers of his own. He led all Week 1 goalies with a 3.20 GAA and, in the Week 1 championship game against Raising Cane’s, stopped seven of nine shooters in the sudden-victory shootout.
He made six saves in a row at one point, denying each Raising Cane’s player at least once, and stoned NHL rookie sensation Logan Cooley twice.
Additionally, McLaughlin stopped both penalty shots he faced in regulation play on the night, including Cooley’s attempt in the first period of the final contest.
