One month before this concert, Bachman turner overdrive at the Aragon ballroom on lawrence ave and broadway in chicago. I woke up the next morning in the alley next to the ballroom soaking wet from being rained on all night. I was filthy dirty. I got on the el and went home. What a great show.
The Original Southern Rock band. BOA had in my opinion maybe the best Rhythm Section with Dirtying Reynolds and Aldridge in America. And the most underrated female vocalists in History. Ms. Ruby Star was fantastic and people that know about her agree. She was a 95 pound Jack Hammer on stage. And no one but no one strutted across the stage like Jim Dandy. And they all were fantastic musicians and the original three guitar power house. Am from Memphis and am taking up for my neighbors from just over the Big Creek in Arkansas. And one of the greatest ever Guitarists played with BOA as a 16 year old kid Shaun Lane from Memphis Tennessee. I saw him when he was 13 I think and he was already better than 90% or more of those other great guitarist of that time.
Very nice write up. I love reading stuff like this. There wouldn't be the Allman Brothers, Skynyrd, Outlaws, Hatchet and the rest with out the influence of Black Oak Arkansas/The Knowbody Else.
I've never heard a song quite like this in my life. It uses the traditional sounds of southern rock and country, such as the steel guitar (or effect), and country guitar licks, yet it's arranged in a way that makes it sound sort of surreal. A lot of the changes are unexpected. I love that about the song. And of course, Jim Dandy's vocals make it even better!
This song on this lp wasn't there. I had to search for it. Would love it to be in the line up. Folks are missing out. It's so very beautiful. 💙 Thanks from a huge fan.
I grew up on this band. Seen many times in concert. 👍👍
11/30/1975, Aragon Ballroom with Montrose and Foghat. Oh, those were the days. Still listening. Anyone else?
