- It's getting to the point where it'll be almost impossible to tell if it's Generations or Unleashed
SU Restorations came out a couple of days ago and it's a pretty fucking sweet mod: gamebanana.com...
As a true Unleashed enjoyer, I know this is Generations, because you still get extra lives regardless of how many times you got 100 rings.
maybe I can change that for the next update.

Also during the sky diving section, in Unleashed, Sonic lands and the automatically runs. There is no boost pad at the end of that section.
Generations controls better, and it has an actual PC port. Not saying Unleashed is bad but they clearly learned from that game and improved its foundation in Generations.

there's also a dash panel at 1:28 which is not in unleashed ,sonic just lands and starts running himself

Despite the comments picking out the little details you missed, this is a great implementation of Unleashed gameplay in Generations! To be honest even I almost fell for it being Unleashed.
One noticeable distinction is that there are no quick-time events. Unleashed had the ones where you press the specific buttons shown on screen, but Generations only has the trick system where you flick the stick in different directions. It's still pretty convincing, though!
At least the Blue Springs were later modded back into Sonic Generations.
When they finish the QTE mod this will be the best of the best

It is INSANE how far the Unleashed experience has come for Generations. It is basically like 95-99% Unleashed accurate now. I remember even back in 2019 it was still just Unleashed stages with everything else being Generations
As a Unleashed enjoyer, i can confirm this is Generations, look at Sonic movement in minute 1:25
In Sonic Unleashed, sonic used to move more slow at this section.
GUYS as a true unleashed connoisseur I can tell from the pixel in sonics foot at around 3:20 that this is actually sonic generations and not unleashed
This is pretty amazing! But you can realize that is Sonic Generations in 1:39 because the Egg Chaser doesn't crash in the wall like Unleashed. Anyways good video mate!

I feel like modern day sonic would be more popular if it stopped with gimmicks and focused more on speed like this. And you could feel how fast sonic usually runs

Theres a big big give away but i feel like no one noticed, everytime sonic gets on a those type of ramps when it does a slow motion, and it makes you press 3 keys to get a boost thats sonic unleashed. This is definetly Sonic generations.
Only real way to tell it's Unleashed is because of the life count as well as the fact that there's no animation at the bottom of the skydive and there's no camera change going into the chasers section. And the chasers themselves die in one hit.

I know its Sonic Generations due to the crispy smoothness lmao. Also no blue trail
another big giveaway is the xp crystals, they make the same sound you hear in generations when you get boost from enemies, and the crystals are way to big and too bright. Other than that and a few other things, this is a seriously impressive hack, though.

i wouldnt say that, its only like entire half of the game, and it took a while for us to get even this with a lot of stuff already done for us (sonic), implementing a whole new style of gameplay over probably classic sonic).. that being said i would NOT mind that at all

Is Sonic sped up to his Unleashed speed for the mod, or was Generations Sonic always this fast?
He's actually faster in Gens, it's just that in SU, the camera is closer to Sonic therefore giving the illusion that he's faster.
Now we just need a working Werehog mod in Generations and we have Eggmanland!

Sonic is slightly bigger than he should be so that’s how I know it’s generations and also his physics are pretty noticeable

One thing everyone is forgetting is that this man got 965 rings, which in generations gives 9 lives, but in unleashed, the moment you cross 200 (or 300) rings, you do not receive any more lives. Thus, another giveaway that this is Generations and not Unleashed xD.
I'm pretty sure only the first 100 gives you a 1 up in unleashed.

i remember the days when the speed meter didn't work. it even shows the exp now. absolutely incredible
Back then, I remember people saying that the speed counter would be impossible to implement.

@@Syuurp I'm part of many modding communities, and you'd be surprised how many things are truly impossible for games like this that didn't have any modding support in mind. That makes this even more impressive.
Technically at this point anything is possible thanks to Gidra/IDA.
As long as someone is determined enough to decompile a game specific mechanic, anything is possible.
Wow, even his stomp momentum has been fixed. In normal Generations, he'd snap straight down after stomping instead of maintaining some of that forward momentum. I always hated that about Gens, so it's nice to see the mods are getting to a point where even the little things that made Unleashed Sonic so satisfying are being brought back.
It's a shame that all Sonic games after Gens do that now
I like the Gens version much better personally. It makes type platforming significantly more precise, and if you're good enough with it, even lets you incorporate the Boost in the platforming seamlessly without shooting yourself off a cliff.
Plus considering you can still always Boost after a Stomp, the slight bit of momentum that Unleashed had really has no advantage beyond making the move less precise.
@@SSL_2004 Momentum stomping is vital in Unleashed speedruns from what I've seen. To compensate for people who prefer both, a quick tap should allow for momentum stops while holding it down locks you in place.

Yeah, but it kills the flow. I also believe it's not as smooth going from a stomp into a slide unlike Unleashed.
I liked that to make Unleashed's stomp more precise, you had to pull back on your movement as well before committing to it, making it more skillful than just straight down.
I guess it's up to each player's preference, I just find it hard to go back to Gens after Unleashed.
I like that they moved it in generations bc removing it in generations made platforming easier.
If This Is The Closest We're Gonna Get To A Sonic Unleashed On PC, Then I Guess This Is Acceptable. Because Whoever Made This For Generations, Did A Fantastic Job.

This is the best Unleashed mode I've seen so far for Sonic Generations. I was struggling until the first minute or so to actually notice the difference.
i've played unleashed way too much lol. first 8 seconds and you can tell it's gens. the boost filter thingie on the screen isn't the same and the camera angles aren't as extreme. i was doubtful at first, but then i saw 0:20, which has a trick animation in unleashed, but doesnt have one in this video..
also im not trying to "prove" anything. i just likee picking out the things that differentiate the two games.

It took me so long to see that this was generations but. how i firgured it out was hard. in generations you get boost by defeating bad-niks and at the clock he gains boost. but in unleashed you only get Ring energy by collecting rings duh. Nice video! And Sonic's Eye at the end.
If modding will continue to go this way, then one day we'll sure see someone adding an actual werehog into Generations. XD

There's a obvious way to know that is really generations, in generations you gain +1 life for every 100 rings, in unleashed you gain +1 life for only the first 100 rings
Everyone talking about the lives, me meanwhile notices the lack of QTE bumpers and the fact that some sections that usually slow you down, don't in the unleashed project alongside other minor level stuff.
An easy tell is the exp and how it acts. All exp mods in gens simply reskin boost points, which have a different equation used for how they track and chase the player once collected. Another tell is the lack of a camera transition for the first aero chasers section

How'd you get the unleashed objects working (i.e. the launcher at 0:21)? I've tried using unleashed style objects, but that refuses to work no matter what I do. Are these part of the SU restorations mod?
