Thank You Rev. Mike O'Connor For Your Excellent Homily & God Bless! ⛪
"Never let your right hand know what your left hand is doing" - Why do people 'advertise' the good they're doing? Stop, people! When someone I know says, "After I read my Bible this morning I" (went shopping). Or, "The Lord told me to" (do the dishes). Or "I'm broke today 'cause I put my last $20 in the basket at church today." Or, "The Lord told me to leave the tip for our whole table today." Please, people!!! - Stop bragging on yourselves so other people can hear it. NO ONE CARES! Either do it with a good and willing spirit or don't do it at all. I hate a braggart! My 'friend' wants everybody around her to know how 'good' she is. I'm going to stop hanging around her because I can't take it anymore! She called me in a panic because she couldn't walk, her knee gave out on her. I offered to pick her up and take her to the ER or Urgent Care or wherever.......she said, "No, I'm going to wait in the Lord." I get it, but whatever! I wonder if The Lord told her to look in her Bible and find the passage that says, "Don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing."
Very well said Fr. Mike! God bless and keep you always!
Thank you Fr Mike for teaching and making us aware of what we need to do out of love and in private.
Your ego dies with your flesh but your soul lives on forever.
I think genuflecting is a thing of the past. A true genuflect. I'm not in church to judge others - but - have you noticed how people 'genuflect' before entering the pew? I understand if you have a bad knee or knees, but if you're going to seriously mutilate what could have been a perfectly good genuflect if you're able to, then just get in the pew and sit down. And if you can get down on one knee, remember it's the right knee that goes to the floor, not the left. 😵💫 Same with making the Sign of the Cross. We make it with our right hand, not the left hand. 😵💫 1. Forehead 2. Chest 3. Left shoulder, then 4. Right shoulder. Again, I am not in church to observe the other parishioners, but I cannot not see what's going on around me. I am a cradle Catholic, I was taught by the nuns and priests for 14 years and from the late 50's to today in 2024, I am truly annoyed when I attend Mass. From chatter in the church before Mass to the ushers in the rear acting like it's a loud social gathering amongst themselves, I'd truly rather stay home and watch Mass For Shut-Ins. I have many church pet-peeves but I believe the church bulletin should not be available until after Mass. Reading the latest church news is not prayer and reflection before Mass starts. (And don't get me started on Eucharist Adoration).
Exactly
My exact thoughts! Find a Latin Mass near you for a more Reverant Mass
Jesus said “My Father’s House is a House of prayer …”. Nowadays it is like a concert hall with all the clapping and talking and socialising. There is no respect for the Blessed Sacrament, people attending First Holy Communions and weddings are particularly guilty of disrespecting the presence of the Lord in His own house. Also Choirs should not be applauded, surely they are singing in praise of God not for the applause of the congregation. In church no one should be thanked for their work for God, it is His due and a privilege to be able to do it, that goes for Readers and all ministers. Neither should churches be used as concert halls with tickets sold. Just my point of view.
Amen! ❤❤❤

Praying the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary together in public is part of the traditions of the true Catholic faith.
On the other hand….we need others to know that we are a Believer. We tend to be quiet about our Faith while the atheist blab away. No, speak up, let others know that you are a child of God and if this offends others, then Pray for them.
