There are several places you can go to in the Lake of Rot to activate a switch that brings out platforms. And if you uses Quickstep/Bloodhound Quickstep one can move between these sites and the raised platforms without getting Scarlet Rot debuffed if one waits out the build up. Makes the boss fight 100 times easier to have several platforms, some quite big, to fight it on to minimize or even completely avoid the Scarlet Rot.
You can also just kite the boss towards the ruins where you find the mushroom crown (south-east of the boss), go to the top of those ruins and shoot arrows or spells from safety.
Guys if you want there's an incantation called fire's deadly sin, you catch basically on fire without taking damage but giving continuous fire burn and (bugged) what you have active in your right arm like frostbite "chilling mist ash of war" and so on, is gettin fixed pretty soon if they didn't yet
Been using a bleed/frostbite build in my NG+ with a Keen Nagakiba in my right hand that I then imbue with Bloodflame, and a Cold infused Uchigatana in my left. The Uchi procs the frost while both weapons proc bleed, and the Bloodflame in the right hand dispels the frost immediately after it procs so it can build up again. May test this weapon out as a replacement in my left hand. However since the frost damage on the Dragonscale is a buff and not innate I won't be able to have both Bloodflame and this buff up at the same time, which would kind of defeat the purpose. Worth testing out though.
you can have both weapon buffs active. you need to 2hand your offhand and use the skill. after that you can apply the bloodflame buff to your other katana.
@@raythetiger7701 You need to use a Sacred Seal in the offhand to apply Bloodflame to mainhand and once you switch off the offhand weapon to the Seal the buff gets canceled.

I found the Rotten Battle Hammer to be fun to mess with because it automatically has scarlet rot build up but you can equip any ashes of war to it too. So you could do like a frost build up with bloundhound step plus still be building scarlet rot.. plus it has really good stagger being a great hammer.
To make this build super strong you can power stance a second one or another frost uchigatana and use fire deadly sin so you can just keep procing frost it's op

Ranni moon assassin Int x Dex power stance Rh = Nagakiba frost bloodhound step Lh = Nagakiba frost seppuku + Carian regal scepter Talisman = Green turtle, claw, magic scorpion, Lord of blood Armor = iron kasa, Raptor cloak, black knife gauntlets and greaves. Spells: ranni dark moon, glintstone icecrag, freezing mist, zamor ice storm and adula moonblade. Physic = magic damage and mana regen Summons = mimic and nightmaiden/swordstress puppets Standard +25, bleed (38x2=76) and cold/magic damage (115x2=230). Standard damage is maxed with power stancing and weapon weight, magic scales with Dex (B) on nagakibas, your jump attack gets 2x buffs and hits like a truck for guard breaks, evade like a lunatic with BHS and if it's a boss fight as soon as you rupture you get 20% added damage. If you are in a hurry to rupture LH does seppuku before the boss fight. If you really need frostbite use your mimic Summons with seppuku before healing and going in. Loads of small enemies and need crowd control? Spells. Amazing build and it ties well with Ranni if you prefer that ending.
you can use a coffin in deeproot deaths to get to nokstella too. Than follow the normal way to get to the sea, so no need for the quest when you already done it^^
For the fp reducing talisman its in iji's shop as soon as you get the recommendation from blaidd. So just need to do his quest upto where you kill the enemy in the gaol and speak to him. You can even skip storm veil Castle and buy it then.
I believe I also got it by just killing the enemy in the gaol and then going through the initial introduction with Ranni. I have not done a single quest with Blaidd and I have it on most of my characters.
This weapon needs a buff for sure, cuz if you just just cold uchigatan it will inflict freeze easier than this. Maybe it could have large aoe when the lightning strikes and guaranteed frostbite.

You can get the Carian Filigreed Crest very early by summoning Blaidd to beat the Bloodhound Knight, and then talking to him twice after the fight. Then go to Iji and tell him "Blaidd sent me" and he'll make the CFC available for purchase
You should have just put a fire incantation on your spells bar, keeps your buff longer instead of having to swap weapons and have to reapply. Better survivability since you aren't stuck reapplying the buff
Arekkz, I found him to be missing from a location near the end of his quest line, but he still appeared for the duel at crumbling farm azula, so maybe just check there to be sure. I think as long as you free him twice he will be at the volcano area, and from there at azula.
using a offhand Wakizashi it will work with Kitana weapon sets instead of daggers so the L1 becomes a offencive dual weld attack instead of a offhand slash 50% damage buff so your attacks will balance between the Dragon scale and the Wakizashi damage unless you like to guard then just 2h the main

Extra talisman mention:
Clawmark talisman(for easy bleed/frostbite jump attack proc)
You can use poison affinity to your uchigatana too for a sweet 4 element attack, ice/lightning/poison/bleed
Talismans same as above but add kindred of rot talisman in exchange for the millicent prosthesis or godskin cloth for that instant 40% damage increase (lord of blood talisman, kindred of rot talisman) + whatever the percentage of the rotten winged sword talisman % is.
Goodluck.
Alternatively, you could just use River of Blood instead of the Wakizashi since it also deals fire damage and has better bleed build up.
That, and also longer reach in power stance, than wakizashi
Alternatively you could try using something that ISNT the most broken weapon in the game.
Dude c'mon, can we NOT use the most broken weapon in the game for 1 moment?
Use lightning katana in left hand and river of blood in right main wield left hand use ash of war then go back to dual wield use L1 attacks to inflict frostbite and bleed constantly over and over as rivers of blood resets the frostbite and is also stacking its blood loss, think this would work? As buff swill stay on the katana
Sounds cool, and I'd like to try it but too bad it's likely up on the nerf chopping block because people like to abuse this weapon. Christ I hate that this game gets balanced around PVP(-vomits-).
The earliest that the Carian Filigreed Crest can be purchased after you meet Blaidd in Limgrave. He tells you to find Iji and say "Blaidd sent you," once you do that it is available in the shop.
Better to have the flame weapon in off left hand and only swing it after the frost bite. This way you don't lose the frost lighting buff each time you reset
This is true, but the buff doesn’t last long on its own anyway and if you want to use flame of the redmane to create opening for the big hit you need the dagger in your main hand
@@bayleeogletree6705 if you have any weapon in the off hand with a R2 skill, , you can use its special attack by two handing it. (On PS5) hold triangle, R1/R2, will two hand your right hand weapons. Pressing triangle and L1/L2 will two hand your "offhand" weapon. You can switch between them in two hand mode by holding triangle, and pressing the opposite shoulder button twice. (If your two handing your main weapon, triangle and L1/L2 once will put you back into dual wield, and the second press will go into offhand two handing. Enjoy!! Adds alot more depth to customization! 😉
Your fashion souls is on point 👌🏻
I used a similar build in DS3. Vordt's Hammer and Pyromancy, works like a charm. I love these Freezeburn sets.
Alexander, You might have missed him after the radhan boss fight . Go back to the grace, refresh and he's behind you!
Carian Filigreed Crest: only need to get the dialog from Blaidd telling you about the blacksmith, right after you kill Darriwil, so pretty early on.
So the frost buildup doesnt reset everytime you hit with the other katana? only after the frost procs?
you can have both weapon buffs active. you need to 2hand your offhand and use the skill. after that you can apply the bloodflame buff to your other katana.
@@raythetiger7701 You need to use a Sacred Seal in the offhand to apply Bloodflame to mainhand and once you switch off the offhand weapon to the Seal the buff gets canceled.
@@TheCamb321 I initially thought it might cancel the buildup but it does not seem to do so. It just cancels the status effect after it procs. Frostbite still procs even when I have Bloodflame or Blackflame on my right hand, and sometimes even faster than the bleed.
@@jonimated oh true i forgot. i thought it was also an aow sry
For the reset frostbite fire’s deadly sin is insanely good for reapplying frostbite and you might have seen it being used with death’s poker and against malenia, flame of the redmanes is good for stagger though.
instead of using the dagger with a fire aow just use fires deadly sin to auto remove frost so you can proc again
also there's a pure fire/frost build that's similar to this but much more effective at proccing frost
zamor great curvedsword with fires deadly sin on
the AoW from the curved sword procs frost insanely quickly and it gives you hyper armor
If you don't want to abuse a bug then don't use fire's deadly sin with this.
The frostbite buff will apply to the fire aura damage, even though it shouldn't.
@@BigDBrian pretty sure they removed that months back didn’t they?
@@nornornornor9204 they only fixed it with the deathblight weapon
@@BigDBrian really? That’s so dumb lmao. If they fixed it with deathblight they can obviously fix it pretty easily with others
@@nornornornor9204 it's because the deathblight is what people were complaining about. They didn't care to get the full picture of the underlying issues. Auras and buffs are buggy.
5:05 you can take Arekkz out of the Monster Hunter, but you can't take the Monster Hunter out of Arekkz 😂
I didn't know Hoarfrost Reach was in this game!
Thank you im looking for a build and i found it ima get to work on it
Dude did you seriously just step your way all the way to the rot lake boss AND kill it, all without setting up the platforms? I’m seriously impressed.
Also on this part of the scene 3:12 as you enter the area there’s a column stone that’ll have a pressure plate and will give you a safe path too on the right and find another column, and HAVE law of Regression to help stop the Bar and the Scarlet Rot if effect too HAVE enough HP potion and enough FP position me I have flask 5 health and 8 FP. It can be tough but be strong and have strong ability and assistant long distance attack help and strong shield also black knife
I like the ideas of having a main damage weapon and off damage buff weapon
Subscribed!!! Keep it going
you can use a bloody dagger dropped by large beast-men in weeping peninsula, in place of the wakazashi; I am using it to pair with redivia for extra bleed
In the ROT LAKE, you can run to the square pillars and activate the rising surfaces, it will give you lots of room to move out of the lake...
Made a build very similar to this already. Katanas are awesome
Wow completely missed this katana in my playtbrough. My first character i grabbed all the others and got them to +10. Guess Ive got a reason to hop in to ng+3
I like all your videos! And I like your accent too! I use the dragon scale sword sometimes not the best but fun to play for me. Thanks.
I found the Rotten Battle Hammer to be fun to mess with because it automatically has scarlet rot build up but you can equip any ashes of war to it too. So you could do like a frost build up with bloundhound step plus still be building scarlet rot.. plus it has really good stagger being a great hammer.
It is a fun way to play, I’ve been doing it for quite some time now
To make this build super strong you can power stance a second one or another frost uchigatana and use fire deadly sin so you can just keep procing frost it's op
Im glad you gave me the name of the weapon so I can look up a video on where to find it 😂
With my build, I do 5 types of damage with one attack.
I use Dragonscale blade in my right hand, rivers of blood in my left.
So I do physical, fire, lightning, bleed, and frostbite damage.
(Yes, I’m aware that bleed and frostbite aren’t technically legitimate types of damage, but I count it anyway).
You can power stance these two even when the wakizashi is labeled as a dagger. Then you can constantly proc and reset the frost bite by l1
With the talisman from Iji I believe he sells it early if you meet the Blaidd and fight the bloodhound knight guy with him and mention to Iji that Blaidd sent you
Did you know the Wakuzashi Powerstances with any Katana?
Oooh boyeeeee... now I've gotta try this out on my dex/arc bleed build
If you used just a regular katana in your off hand with flame art affinity you could power stance them then you wouldn't necessarily need to use flame of remane to reset your frost. Of course u could still use redmane on the off hand for the guard break if u need it but overall the build would run smoother without having to switch weapons like you are
Surely someone’s already said this, but “Gaol” in Gaol Cave is actually pronounced “Jail”. It’s what jails were called originally, and what some of them are still called in Australia. Great video though bro. I just found this weapon and looked to see if anyone had made a video on it. Thanks!
I remember when I made this build a while back when I just got the game and it was so ASS but the presentation of the vid made it seem good lol
Thank you!!!
I like Flame of the Redmanes on Misericorde. Got that 140 crit to take advantage of their downed state.
On the Alexander note, check Radahn's Arena. I'd spoken with him there previously, but he didn't move. Happy hunting.
you can get the filigree crest after helping blaiid with killing the dude in the ever gaol. you can do it right at the start.
Really interesting build that I’m going for try out! Note though, his stats aren’t optimised at all though, at 150 you should have 60 Vig, less Str/Int/Arc and more Dex/mind (endurance is up to you). Whilst you can push past the soft caps of 60 (Int/Faith are higher at 80) I wouldn’t. Note though that I prefer having more Dex than Arc, the other way round is just as viable. 60/30 one way or another
40 vig is enough bruh
@@apurebot1568 it seems he’s talking more for pvp
The Crest Iji sells is available as soon as you get his shoon which is as soon as you reach iji. You probably missed Alexander's summon on Fire Giant which is a necessity for his quest
I'm not sure that's true. It's listed in the quest steps, but I didn't summon him for fire giant, and he still appeared at CFA for the end of his line.
@@lancerkain I've done his quest on 4 characters and failed 2 with only missing his FG interaction along with a friend's 2 runs missing it like wise. But at the end of the day it could've been something else. I just know that everything besides Radahn, Mt Gulnir, and FG were the only steps I had to do to get him to CFA. Liurnia encounter I've done every time but once where he still showed up in Mt gulnir, not quite sure on this being a necessity
@@MegaHerosmash yeah, I'm not sure if it's a bug or what, I can only comment on what happened for me.
Maybe I just got lucky and for whatever reason he showed up there at the end. Sorry to hear it wasn't smooth for you and your friend.
Best katana build I've come up with.
Ranni moon assassin
Int x Dex power stance
Rh = Nagakiba frost bloodhound step
Lh = Nagakiba frost seppuku + Carian regal scepter
Talisman = Green turtle, claw, magic scorpion, Lord of blood
Armor = iron kasa, Raptor cloak, black knife gauntlets and greaves.
Spells: ranni dark moon, glintstone icecrag, freezing mist, zamor ice storm and adula moonblade.
Physic = magic damage and mana regen
Summons = mimic and nightmaiden/swordstress puppets
Standard +25, bleed (38x2=76) and cold/magic damage (115x2=230).
Looks dope with full altered Drake knight armor
This weapon needs a buff for sure, cuz if you just just cold uchigatan it will inflict freeze easier than this. Maybe it could have large aoe when the lightning strikes and guaranteed frostbite.
i couldnt find alexander anywhere. eventually found the bastard in the battlefield at the Rahdan fight location. exhausted all his dialogue then he went off to go sit in lava at the volcano manor~ thought i broke his quest line because of how far i progressed aye haha. doubt this helps but you could of simply missed him like i did at the battlefield :)
Good job on this elden ring videos
You can get the Carian Filigreed Crest very early by summoning Blaidd to beat the Bloodhound Knight, and then talking to him twice after the fight. Then go to Iji and tell him "Blaidd sent me" and he'll make the CFC available for purchase
Im good with my frost Uchi, Naga, and hook claws. I'm interested in that wakizashi dagger!
You should have just put a fire incantation on your spells bar, keeps your buff longer instead of having to swap weapons and have to reapply. Better survivability since you aren't stuck reapplying the buff
That's a pretty epic build
Arekkz, I found him to be missing from a location near the end of his quest line, but he still appeared for the duel at crumbling farm azula, so maybe just check there to be sure. I think as long as you free him twice he will be at the volcano area, and from there at azula.
Did you talk to Alexander in the lava pit? That's the final place you speak to him before the dragon ruins.
Literally the Dragonbone Sword from Skyrim when you enchant it with chaos damage.
using a offhand Wakizashi it will work with Kitana weapon sets instead of daggers so the L1 becomes a offencive dual weld attack instead of a offhand slash
50% damage buff so your attacks will balance between the Dragon scale and the Wakizashi damage unless you like to guard then just 2h the main
I feel like ice lightning is weaker compared to other lightning attacks. Probably why I haven't used it yet. Mainly trying Eleonora's twin blade at the moment.
no it's busted. there is another dragonskin boss that grants you an Ice Lightning faith spell that can one-proc the frostbite; at base attack
@@MapleYum elden stars is one of my personal favorites to see cast
@@FelisImpurrator blood flame is also one of my favorite buffs due to fire and bleed plus it looks amazing.
@@FelisImpurrator I'm still not in a comfortable spot for intelligence builds, i respect a couple times already and it seems mage is not for me or Intel/dex or Intel/strength builds. Maybe one day I might try again.
This is cool but the whip build you used to kill the dragonkin. I love the aesthetic of that mate!
this should be called Sasuke Uchiha Build with the weapon art similar to Kirin and the fireball jutsu
I was thinking of making a frost mage with high dex but this just might be the ideal
You get the fuligreed crest after you help blaidd out and he tell u to tell the black smith that he sent you and u can buy that then..
wish it still scaled with faith. a faith/katana build would have been fun
Your builds are incredibly fun and you explaine everything really well. Congrats on the amaizing content on you channel. Keep it up 👍👍
It's criminal that this isn't a faith weapon
Mushroom set made getting this weapon so much more easier
You have to do the first part of blaidds quest to get the filigreed crest
as long as we speak about the talisman that lowers the fp cost from weaponskills you get from the giant smith then no you dont. after you got through nokron he will give it to you. i think he might even give it earlier. iirc i could buy it as soon as i found him and i didnt do blaidds quest in the fog woods.
Dragon scale blade ice and lighting in one hand and rivers of blood fire and bleed in the other
Misleading title, the Dragonscale blade cannot have any status effects or damage types more than Ice Lightning. Bleed and Fire are being applied through an additional weapon which has innate bleed and a fire art ash of war. Definitely not a 4 in 1. By this logic, I can have a 12-in-1 by utilizing all 6 weapon slots and counting every damage type in the game.
I thought the same
the fp cost is huge for the damage output, the stagger wont work as well against bosses and its a pretty unoptimized playstyle... then again if its fun that other shit means nothing anyway, neat stuff
Check the Radahn Battlefield to make sure Alexander isn't stuck there for your progression
I just wish we got a frost dragonbolt incantation so that we could imbue anything with the frost lightning
