Arber Xhekaj is the next Souray, it’s an exact replica, big , good skater , can fight , big shots. Arber has better hands but Souray had a more accurate shot but the resemblance is unreal
@@Jxsse_ no? Tough guys are guys like this that have the courage to say he didn’t want to fight all the time or stated he wasn’t a top tier fighter. Meanwhile he’d kick the hell out of guys that talk a big game.
I love fighting - but only in fight sports. I love UFC and boxing. Souray explained the problem with fighting in hockey - hockey is a great sport in its own right, and guys work their whole life to get to the NHL and shine. Then your coach tells you you have to play another sport - a bare-knuckle combat sport - that you didn't train for and that has its own specialists (Probert, Domi, etc.) Now you got this Rangers kid Matt Rempe who in 2 years might be one of the greatest fighters ever in the NHL. I get why that would be stressful for the non-fighters.
exactly!...finally someone who sees it like i do and or has the courage to post it. the game ..sport ....is hockey. Its not a fighting sport.. fighting in hockey is simulated, video gaming. Its silly and the sport of hockey should stand on its own, without fisticuffs, especially the staged fighting. Silly beyond comprehension. Cheapens the game.
@@hanginthere65 Nothing is staged. They do it for a reason. When they drop the gloves as soon as the puck hits the ice,its either payback from the previous game or too much barking in warmups, Its not like they get handed a list of times in the game to start a fight. Its part of hockey and always will be , don't like it , don't watch it 🤷♂
Sheldon was a beast and he knows it. He's sounding so mature now, but I'll bet there's a bunch of players who sure didn't want Sourey pissed about something and coming after em. He was a big boy in a time when the league wasn't all giants.
There were way more giants during Souray’s day than there exists during the current day . Parker , Worrell , Laraque , Probert , Laus and that’s only off the top of my head as I’m sure I can come up with a dozen more names . Even skill guys like Keith Primeau could drop the mitts and were big guys . Ditto to guys like Lindros and Cam Neely . Further half of these wanna be tough guys today fight with mandated visors . Not so hard playing tough guy out there when most of your face is covered . Back then when lame rules which exist to make a soft game weren’t forced on the players fighting with a visor on and refusing to remove the helmet ( allowed back then ) was a big no no and also a big red flag player was a pu$$y . Like Ulf Samuelson . Anyone who even dared do that was automatically deemed a pansy . Today all these “ tough guys “ aren’t as tough as they think they are . One final point . The league embarrassingly inflates players’ heights and weights today to such an obvious level that anyone with half a brain and not delusional and in denial can see it for themselves. Even Brian Leetch admitted this on a program not too long ago when he seriously doubted some of the players heights and weights who they were speaking of. They used to do it even during Leetch’s day - but not so obvious and they only added an inch of height and maybe 10 lbs at most and only to certain guys as other guys didn’t need it ( many didn’t hence bigger league back then ) . Today they add 3 inches of height and 25 lbs . It’s pathetic. So if anything there were more true giants during Sheldon’s day than there really exists today. It’s sad.
I liked Malakhov was one of players, when he was traded for Souray and dewolf, 2nd round pick, I was so hurt, but he went skiing, when he supposedly injured , Malakhov won a cup that year, I think they would have won anyways, de wolf didn't turn into the player, The habs got a heck of a player in Souray, they said he had a good shot , I remember one game he had two goals, he would turn into the best duo him and Markov from the back end, I think he shoulda stayed in Mtl even he regrets it, cus Edm was bad for his career.
I wonder why OB acts like he was all for fighting but that interview he did in Van he was crying about having to fight and how he doesn’t like it or want to do it 😂😂😂😂😂
I met Shelly at 4am in the Hamptons one summer in the parking lot of a nightclub , he was cool as fk...Driving a sick 70's muscle car . Even asked if I wanted to go hang out at their rental house, My GF at the time was a bit c#nty so I had to pass...Should have dumped her right then and went and partied with them hahah
He did do that tactic a lot. But he also completely pummeled some of the toughest guys around as well. I didn’t like him but when he opened up, he was dangerous. His win percentage is extremely high as well.
souray is such a beauty. class act.
Had a beer with Sheldon in my hometown Williams Lake,, back in the 90s,,wadda frign stud

😢 professional boxers fight three times a year

Cool interview. Love that he and Theo Von are buddies. Great Canadian representative, great career.
Given how bad OB was at fighting I'm surprised his coaches didn't tell him to go another 10 without one.................
The habs should play xhekaj on the pp with matheson , reminds me of Markov and Souray
Why don’t you put all your content on this channel?

Malakhov was sooooooo talented but very un motivated
Pay me $750,000 to play maybe 5 minutes a game and I’ll fight anybody. Not saying it’s easy but for that kind of money…c’mon
This guy is tough
Exactly!!!!!
You couldn’t pay me x2 that to go against any of those old school tough guys. They were monsters!

Who is the guy in the far left?
Every player should pull a Rocket Richard,
Try it it's not that easy
Andrei Markov !
sheldon was a skill guy, but man did he have no fear and a short fuse
Who was really afraid of Brasher? He would just hug you the whole time.
Who was your favourite fighter that Brashear beat up and you still haven't gotten over it?

Did Souray have a stroke? He looks off
Nerve damage from a shark attack in Florida.
@@jeffinphx517 damn, poor guy. Always liked him from his days back in Prince George, he's a guy everyone would want on his team even today
Sheldon had an absolute Bomb from the point.
Talk less please O’Brien
