What is Relativistic Doppler Effect ? How Frequency changes due to Relativity

  • One consequence of the Special theory of relativity is the change of frequency (and wavelength) of light due to the relative motion of Source and Observer. This is called the Relativistic Doppler Effect. It is different from the classical Doppler effect of sound, as it involves Time dilation effects resulting in the Doppler effect.
    In this video, I discuss a simple setup to obtain the relationship for the Relativistic Doppler Effect for source and observer in relative motion along an inclined path with respect to the line of sight. From there, I use the formula to obtain necessary expressions for Longitudinal Doppler effect (Both approaching and receding cases) and Transverse Doppler effect

    But: if you pull down the two L lines exactly from their starting points and exactly(!) to the g r o u n d there is no difference in length. They are necessarily equal. The picture seems to be ad hoc and somehow flawed. v d t prolongs the first distance only bc the second is detected at a greater height, right? So, how to bring theta into play in the true case?

      Planets rotate electrons rotate to attain stability in their motion their spin angular momentum maintains the orbit and its energy and oppose any change in angular momentum that means it resists applied external torque

  • @andrewbodor4891
    @andrewbodor4891 Год назад

    The doppler affect is just that, an affect, not a cause. The cause of red shift in all cases is gravity. Gravity as the photon struggles out of a star or galaxy, the gravity as the photon joes past and through gravitational geodesics, AND as the photon moves head on towards you. The photon presses against the space, the aether, and the aether presses back preventing it from traveling faster than "C" as well as causing the photon to lose energy by way of a change in wavelength. This change in wavelength also has an affect on relativity. The photon having slowed down internally experiences time slower than an outside observer.

    sir , why did we take theta as zero degree in approching case ?

    • @harshrajveermaran5792
      @harshrajveermaran5792 6 месяцев назад

      Well that's a pretty nice one I'll admit, but think like this if you have heard about "Blue shift" and "Red shift" and what happens when the emitter comes closer the frequency increases right hence theta must be 0° otherwise just try putting some value of v and taking it as 180° you'll find that the frequency will decrease which isn't possible that's why we take it as 0°. Btw I know it's been 2 years you might not even be on the same page of life but if you read this one what are you doing in life?

    • @harshrajveermaran5792
      @harshrajveermaran5792 6 месяцев назад

      Well the wavelength changes in order cause the frequency does and the speed of light (example) stays constant imagine you emit a red light and come close to me now the frequency will increase as we call it Blue shit, also the wavelength will decrease keeping the speed of light constant c= wavelength × frequency. It's been a year but I hope it helps you.
