What is Relativistic Doppler Effect ? How Frequency changes due to Relativity
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 авг 2024
- One consequence of the Special theory of relativity is the change of frequency (and wavelength) of light due to the relative motion of Source and Observer. This is called the Relativistic Doppler Effect. It is different from the classical Doppler effect of sound, as it involves Time dilation effects resulting in the Doppler effect.
In this video, I discuss a simple setup to obtain the relationship for the Relativistic Doppler Effect for source and observer in relative motion along an inclined path with respect to the line of sight. From there, I use the formula to obtain necessary expressions for Longitudinal Doppler effect (Both approaching and receding cases) and Transverse Doppler effect

Amazing lecture. Loved how you dealt with approaching and receding cases with just one equation, setting theta = 0 and 180 degrees.
Excellent discussion of the doppler effect, for both light and sound, with motivation, examples and lots of detail. Congratulations!
This is amazing, and is much better than most of the other professors' explanation!
You are very great at explaining this, this would be really helpful for my group report. I hope you create a video more about this with sample problems. Thank you so much!
Awesome derivation and explanation, big thanks!
How easily you teach such a beautiful concept in a mesmerizing way . Thank you so much ❤
Such a beautiful and comprehensive explanation, thank you!
Amazingly clear. Wonderfully done, and thank you very much.
The most elegance physics lesson so far. Great job. Thx 🙏
This was the best explanation by far! Thank you!
Excellent lecture! Clear explanation of the relativistic Doppler effect!
Amazing video, very well explained! Thank you!
I have seen many videos of relativistic Doppler Effect but I found that this video is very beautifully explained by you Sir so thank you so much for this
What an amazing video sir this lecture had everything in simple but accurate way. And you make it seem so easy to understand
Sir your Collab with SciFi box was fab ❤️🔥...the podcast was lit... expecting second episode 🔜
Great explaination....this is what I was looking for
Excellent explanation as always . No words for it.
An amazing explanation. Thank you Sir!
Brilliant Derivation! Thank you!
You explained it really nicely, an otherwise unnecessarily difficult made topic in some books and articles. I was wondering if such a video on electromagnetic radiation could be made, accelerating and dipole ones i mean. That I am sure would really be helpful to a lot of people!
Love your way of explaining and making things easy to understand . Huge respect sir ❤❤❤
Very nice and simple explaination of complex concept.
Thank you so much sir.... You made the concept quite simple🙏🏻
Amazing, thanks allot this helped me with my assesments.
Thank you Sir. Your videos are amazing and very helpful. They make concept very clearly understandable.
Wonderfully explained.
_Some kind of a fantastic Physics teacher_
amazing explanation thank you
Huge respect sir . More power to you sir.
Thanks a lot sir
I have been struggling with the bulky derivation of this eqn in special theory of relativity. But the way you explained is amazing.
Best channel I‘ve found wrt physics, very, very good. Greetings from 🇩🇪 Germany, 🍻 Cheers!
The way of his teaching is extremely good..I don't know why this person has so little growth in you tube, whereas shitty channels grows exponentially.
All the best brother..keep giving your best.
very well explained, tysm!
One of the best channel of youtube🤗🤗
thanks for wonderful video
What a magical explanation.
Amazing.. I'm from Bangladesh... 😌 A higher secondary (cls 12th) student .... Taking my preparation for national physics Olympiad... Thank you sir ❤
It's an amazing lecture sir I requested you to record a lecture on LHC kindly do it as early as possible
Nice explanation as always I understood STR from your videos sir please complete the full series of STR😊
U r so amazing sir ,u make my concept crystal clear really your lecture is too good🙏🙏

Nice nice ...... sir when the results of randomly selected students will be publish
Sir please solve questions on this
Sir can you pls explain this qn from nuclear physics.despite of nucleons constantly emitting and absorping pions why they are not found other than their usual mass.
It is because both have diffrent isospin.
Sir i am unable to understand how you are saying frequency is inverse time duration between the signal . Why we are taking signal one and two time difference sir . Means the first signal will have some frequency right sir ?
But: if you pull down the two L lines exactly from their starting points and exactly(!) to the g r o u n d there is no difference in length. They are necessarily equal. The picture seems to be ad hoc and somehow flawed. v d t prolongs the first distance only bc the second is detected at a greater height, right? So, how to bring theta into play in the true case?
Sir main bsc kar rahahnu uske liye notes chahiye concept ta clear hogaya lekin.... Exam ke liye
Sir, I'm in 9th grade and I'm currently learning about gravity and I don't know much but I want to ask why do planets rotate?
Figure it out yourself. This'll help a lot !!
Planets rotate electrons rotate to attain stability in their motion their spin angular momentum maintains the orbit and its energy and oppose any change in angular momentum that means it resists applied external torque
The doppler affect is just that, an affect, not a cause. The cause of red shift in all cases is gravity. Gravity as the photon struggles out of a star or galaxy, the gravity as the photon joes past and through gravitational geodesics, AND as the photon moves head on towards you. The photon presses against the space, the aether, and the aether presses back preventing it from traveling faster than "C" as well as causing the photon to lose energy by way of a change in wavelength. This change in wavelength also has an affect on relativity. The photon having slowed down internally experiences time slower than an outside observer.
sir , why did we take theta as zero degree in approching case ?
Well that's a pretty nice one I'll admit, but think like this if you have heard about "Blue shift" and "Red shift" and what happens when the emitter comes closer the frequency increases right hence theta must be 0° otherwise just try putting some value of v and taking it as 180° you'll find that the frequency will decrease which isn't possible that's why we take it as 0°. Btw I know it's been 2 years you might not even be on the same page of life but if you read this one what are you doing in life?
❤️❤️
Is channels name ispired by Walter Lewin sir?
how does the wavelength change?
Well the wavelength changes in order cause the frequency does and the speed of light (example) stays constant imagine you emit a red light and come close to me now the frequency will increase as we call it Blue shit, also the wavelength will decrease keeping the speed of light constant c= wavelength × frequency. It's been a year but I hope it helps you.
Giveaway ka wait kr raha tha sir
