Hey boys and gals, this episode was uploaded last week but there was a glitch, so it is now re-uploaded! I hope you all enjoy it. Please like and share, and of course subscribe to the channel and turn the notification bell on if you'd like to see more videos in the near future. I can't thank you all enough for your support. :)
Thanks Rod, I'm sure I'll enjoy as always. Home early from work and the salmon are calling me... calm weather. Too much to do around home though. So this will be my escape!
Such a great video!! So cool seeing Dimitri with a full beard!!!!! Omg!! I didn't recognize him!!! I'm still taking good care of your old King Pin Dimitri!!
I cant help thinking the girls look SO much better reeling those fish in Rod, no pun intended:) Good stuff as usual and a good guide along with good filming and editing made another very nice vid:)
Hey Rod! Said hi to you on the ferry last week. 2018 was my first season of fishing and your videos have saved me a lot of time, headaches and money! Had lots of luck in Ucluelet, Campbell River and the lakes around Quadra Island. Hope your trip worked out for you.
Cheers from India, nicely done video, i was kinda binge watching battlefish on netflix and then curiosity led me to this video of yours, very nicely filmed, awesome camera, nice fishes ofcourse, and yes kitty kenhoffen you look so beautiful.. ;-)
I am freakin hooked on your channel! I can’t wait to get to the coast from Edmonton, and catch some rockfish and crab from shore! (I can’t afford a charter, too much for me). It will be my first time fishing saltwater! So excited!
Great fishing guys. Any chance you want to share the relative area for that ling spot ? I've been trying to get one from a kayak all season and keep coming up short.
Hey Rod, I just heard the coho are starting up in the vedder along with some chinooks my local fishing shop did a fishing report on it and said it’s pretty decent I’m thinking of going but fairly new too salmon fishing, do you have any tips for me?
The best thing to do is to head over to our website and check out the Chilliwack River fall salmon fishing overview. There's also tons of info in the discussion forum too. And also just get out there and try it.
Hey Rod, I have a question. I’ve always seen videos and pictures of people salmon fishing in the open ocean with a rod and reel, which to me look a lot like fly combos. Why are these combos preferred over standard bait or spin cast set ups? And what are those reels ang rods called?
It's called a mooching setup which is pretty typical on the West Coast of BC. The technique of mooching actually involves slowly drifting a dead or live bait, a technique that is rarely practiced now by most for saltwater salmon fishing because trolling is a lot more effective. The reel is a single action, centerpin reel so the retrieval ratio is 1 to 1. This is "preferred" because it is more challenging and fun compared to a conventional levelwind reel. With that said, for this particular trip, when we were fishing at that depth, I almost would have liked a levelwind reel because my arms were burning up after 1 minute.
How come Kitty Said she's never had good fishing before on the ocean. I thought I've watched you guys slay them before on the salt at other locations. Wonder what she meant.
Oh ok I got it. I thought she said outside Vancouver island, but she did follow it up with Nanaimo. I got it! I think I've had some of the best salmon fishing I've experienced out there locally the last few weeks. It was great. I'm addicted. But I'm guessing it won't be like this much.

I think this is my favorite Fishing with Rod video.
Well that's good! Thank you for watching. :)
Awesome video! Made me laugh when Kitty got so excited to see B.C. Ferries and waved as she was reeling in a nice Chinook 😁
ChipDarby13 Thanks! 😉

I honestly don't know where we were as I was just being guided there. It was around the gulf islands.
wow!! I'm so jealous!! ;)

What were you trolling to get the ling cod ? I noticed you were catching them on the salmon rods rather then shorter hali rods.
Large soft plastic swim bait.
I love gingers with freckles
wow is that little cody from Pacific angler lol.
Mr Bouche No that’s not Cody, and he doesn’t work for either Pacific Angler or Bon Chovy.
Try hand lining chinook salmon from 300 ft .... rods make is so much easier
Why would I do that lol? It’d be a lengthy fight, takes a toll on the fish which is unlikely to survive if it is to be released or lost.
#reallygood. 🤘😎
Thanks!

Fishing with Rod yikes! 1-1 ratio. No wonder your arms were burning, lol. Thanks for the info!
Dang!

She was talking about Georgia Strait and waters around Vancouver.

That one lingcod looks like it could swallow Kitty whole.
Thought limit for spring was 2 each
Not this year, it has been reduced to one for some areas.
weak returns right up the west coast. King fisheries were closed or cut back in alaska too
