Interesting, as Steve Hackett did not play guitar on the original studio version of this song found on the album 'Trespass'. He did however play "The Knife" live at several shows with Genesis after Anthony Phillips left the band. The 'Genesis Live' album from 1973 is a good example of this. Thanks for sharing :)

Not on Trespass, no, but you can hear him play it on Genesis Live.
He also played some Genesis songs he had no hand in writing too, like Ripples and Afterglow on the Genesis Revisited tour and One For the Vine on the recent tour.

Just fantastic. Going to see the Revisited show pt. 2 in November after seeing pt. 1 last year. Steve and the band are a class act and doing the material the way it should be done!! Bravo!!

Correct, but it was a part of the Genesis set-list during the early 70's even after Anthony Phillips left, so Steve is no stranger to this song.
