What I found easier for me was removing the whole seat and carving a hole in the roof...welded an additional 3 ft of shifter onto what you currently have. Made a tarp lean-to to keep the rain off My hand and out of the cab.

First off you have no clue what your talking about.. Most city ordinance restrict the use of jacks. Jacks are to be used over long runs; of grades to keep brakes cooler. Using a jacks to shift is just showing off and forces motor rpm to drop fast slamming gears as he shifts. cant hear them slamming ya that’s the point… You cant see the damage dude. The drive line, read end, transmission, bearings and a crap load of other stuff take most of this grunt load of this thrashing. Over all I was going to spend more time going on about it.. and in short.. KEEP DOING IT MAN!!!! Parts man needs your money.. Way to go buddy your smokin.

Near as I can tell your running on flat land so why the need for the brake all the time. But that said for everyone on here who thinks this is great working of gears try a 5 speed main and 4 speed aux gear box. Try it on some good hills where it takes both hands to catch the gears while holding the wheel with your knee Just a thought but the val kilmer thing is cool

What a Whoote more leverage for shifting. Makes it easier to get it into gears. And constant Jake.. Well you're stupid if you don't use your jakes a lot... It's like a free brake. You don't run the risk of overheating brakes.. she my dad drives truck and he uses his Jakes more then his normal brakes because he learned the hard way you wear normal brakes down quicker always using them and the jakes were made to help you brake faster and easier without the problem of over heating and catching fire

Cody Albert 18 speed, u have your high and low range and he can split each gear in high and low range so let's say you are in high range 5th gear for example he can hit the switch with his thumb on the side of the shifter while off the throttle and depending on what way he moves the switch give him a high and low range in just that gear if this makes any sense
+Cody Albert Regarding your question about how the transmission works. An 18 speed has 6 physical shifter positions. The vertical selector is for high/low, the side selector is to split those gears. Both the high/low and splitter are plumbed into the pneumatic system. When you flip one of these switches, it uses air pressure to slide gears in and out of the rotation. 3 of the gears are for reverse so you are essentially driving a 15 speed. Having 5 (forward) physical gear selection slots, you are now driving a 5 speed. Each of these 5 speeds have a high and a low (1-5 low, 6-10 high) that can be split with the side selector.

As a trucker of over 25 years and having run 110,000+ Lbs loads from the Atlantic to the Pacific and vice versa I can assure you that you don't need jakes. Down-shifting from a distance of upcoming traffic or red lights saves the brakes. Jake brakes are for massive down-hill grades after selecting your lowest gear as a secondary to assure you don't end up a runaway truck 😒 Rocket science apparently 😑

So how does your shifting works, because almost and the end i saw that when you change gears you're not moving the shifter?
Cody Albert 18 speed, u have your high and low range and he can split each gear in high and low range so let's say you are in high range 5th gear for example he can hit the switch with his thumb on the side of the shifter while off the throttle and depending on what way he moves the switch give him a high and low range in just that gear if this makes any sense

+Cody Albert Regarding your question about how the transmission works. An 18 speed has 6 physical shifter positions. The vertical selector is for high/low, the side selector is to split those gears. Both the high/low and splitter are plumbed into the pneumatic system. When you flip one of these switches, it uses air pressure to slide gears in and out of the rotation. 3 of the gears are for reverse so you are essentially driving a 15 speed. Having 5 (forward) physical gear selection slots, you are now driving a 5 speed. Each of these 5 speeds have a high and a low (1-5 low, 6-10 high) that can be split with the side selector.

As a trucker of over 25 years and having run 110,000+ Lbs loads from the Atlantic to the Pacific and vice versa I can assure you that you don't need jakes. Down-shifting from a distance of upcoming traffic or red lights saves the brakes. Jake brakes are for massive down-hill grades after selecting your lowest gear as a secondary to assure you don't end up a runaway truck 😒
