I've changed from the m1 MacBook Air to the 11inch M1 iPad recently. I originally thought that for the price, I might as well get the Air but found I was hardly using it. There's something about just grabbing the iPad that seems more fluid and simple I suppose. I use an M2 Max Mac Studio for my main PC but I still find having an iPad at hand to be very useful. It's great that you make videos that are so thought provoking. Thanks.
just get wifi only and use personal hotspot of you phone. but if you want to use the ipad pro as a gps navigator with waze i think yo need the cellular
Bro I play a lot of games like COD mobile should I get the iPad pro M2 or I should wait for the M3 and the Rumors says It will be around 1500 dollar I mean are they even serious I think the price will increase 100 + for each models
@@AhmMansurApu the ipad pro is good if you do alot of editing and cloud gaming. Any game in the appstore will work fine with an ipad air ir 9th or 10th generation. If its just appstore games and such prioritize you storage space so you can play a decent amount of games.
Mouse cursor needs to be improved and file management. File management freezes and isn’t desktop level even though it has an M1. I can’t believe apple hasn’t improved the file management.
I have the iPad Pro 11 inch 2021 and I want to trade in to the ipad pro 13 inch 2024. I bought the ipad in 2022 for journaling, school and illustration. But I found the 11 inch version too small. I need to view my work on a larger screen, plus multitasking will be amazing on the 13 inch ipad. I’d rather buy the 13’ inch M3 than the 12’9 inch M2, because the Oled display will fix the blooming issue.
For multitasking, iPadOS needs a vast improvement on Stage Manager for that to be a serious replacement for MacOS or other desktop OS. Currently it's still very fiddly and seems more like a beta-software release.
I have a relatively newish iPad Pro. All the stuff you mentioned wouldn’t get me to upgrade. But if they give me some form of MacOS.. switch over to, dock into, whatever.. I’ll pay any price.
Hot take: The iPad Pro is not Pro enough. I use the M1 iPad Pro for Lightroom Photo Editing and tbh the software is really great but the hardware misses on some points. The processor is just to weak and the device gets to hot so it has to dim the display which makes it completely unusable for editing purposes. I know that the M1 isn't the newest generation but I would buy an iPad with a Pro Series chip and active cooling even if it is double the current thickness...
The hardware is fine for what it can do. It's already overpowered. What would get me back is if it could replace a laptop. A sandboxed terminal, VS Code, different browser engines with dev tools, and a better file manager would be a good start.
Completely agree. Hardware is borderline "saturation point". The software/OS needs serious Value-Added Upgrade. New browser engines should be available in 2024 and VSCode can be done currently via Web version if not natively. Still missing that Terminal and seems unlikely to be in sight soon which cripples the iPad for a lot of devs.
What if the Magic Keyboard became more like the iPad- a screen? That way we can pinch to adjust the size of the trackpad for instance. Has anyone come across any concept videos where a physical keyboard was a touch-based screen instead?
There's a couple of doublescreen laptops out now that combine: 2 screens, portable keyboard clip on and kickstand that already do this. If Apple ever do this screen tech will need to be better materials for foldable screens ie thinner, lighter, more durable and they could conceivably produce a 11" * 2 = 22" product like this. But weight, durability etc all need to work which seems years away.
$500 is too much for this so called pro device, if full Mac OS is provided then the price may justify, else I can see many people turning to Surface Pro 9
Question I love watching videos and media on my iPad. My iPad is now 8 years old 12.9 iPad pro. Looking to upgrade this year what should I buy. Price is not an issue what should I buy only need it for video watching
I have gave away my old iPad Pro 11” to get Macbook Air M1. Then after a few months, I decided to trade in for iPad Air M1. because I need to use Apple Pencil again, I had a few Wacom tablets but they feel totally different. Pencil is SOOO much better for studying and taking notes. (iPad has better apps too.)
Definitely would love a native AI for the new iPad. Have had my M1 iPad Pro long enough, I think this next iPad will be a great bump up just for the battery life and the faster chip for processes. Keep up the great videos!
Ha ha. I don’t use my iPad Pro 12.9 professionally so I am still on the original 2015 one, with the A9X chip! Tempted to shift to a 2024 model if compelling, but failing that a cheaper M1 / M2 will still be a huge bump up for me
@@neilrobinson3109 if you’re not using it professionally or for a certain purpose, hitting the M1/M2 when the new one comes out and their prices lower would be a steal. Even the M1 from where you are would be beneficial in upgrade. I’ve used mine for work, education, and business with home reselling. They are a tremendous tool with the workload they can maintain.
@@PSy84You think so? I bought a Samsung OLED tv recently & certain things look very clear, but most RUclips videos look like crap. I assumed that was because the quality at which a lot of content creators use isn’t up to super high definition standards perhaps? Movies look good. Sporting events as well. But most of the RUclips stuff I watch on my iPad looks terrible blown up on a huge 77” television.
There's no" Best" as all tech comes with compromise: Each form factor comes with pros and cons or target use cases while sacrificing others. Mini is most portable where people want an upgrade to consuming than their phone. Air/Pro 10.9/11 are Notebook size for notes and portable but just usable as a laptop but very cramped for long periods. Pro 12.9 is literally laptop size screen with touch so great for artists and full time replacement of laptop if your workflow supports it.
For those just interested in streaming media, the iPad is good enough. Though a Pro is very pricy for watching RUclips. Unfortunately, even the office apps are very meager, offering only things like Apple Pages or the Google office suit, Microsoft Office. No Libre Office and access to python scripts. Also, the iPad is not very lap friendly, a desk is required if one is using the keyboard. And the web app, Safari or Chrome, is a bit sketch when it comes to compatibilty with some web sites, especially if it requires cursor keys, such as Sage math sites. Hence, a iPad is justifiable if all one does is stream music and video and light gaming. It just is not a general computing device such as a laptop. It isn't even compatible with tasks requiring cursor keys. Apple does not want the iPad to replace a Macbook. So I have a $1,200 device I keep next to my bed for just watching RUclips and Amazon Prime. Something a $300 Android tablet does well.
Actually a pretty depressing outlook for the iPad. Apple is stumbling along because they keep trying to maintain a separation of use (don’t make the iPad as capable as the laptop etc, don’t’ give the camera of an iPhone, don’t release a full keyboard). Even rumors of “larger” iPad are quieting. Between technology lawsuits creating sales freezes, a hyper priced Vision Pro with low enough initial shipments to allow RUclipsrs like yourself to be the few that get them so the hype machine stays active, to seriously challenging battery life on most of the devices- frankly innovation is really waining. But this is all good news because I’m not going to be perpetuating the consumerism cycle with these changes. The Ultra1 watch was the last amazing product that I still love and was wowed by - the watch that I wanted from day one.
The best potential 2024 development for the iPad won't be the new hardware (with price bumps) but software in the form of what Apple decides to put on iPadOS 18. Basic desktop functions such as multitasking and file-management need streamlining to make them more usable when users decide to sit down and use keyboard/touchpad to control their device more like a laptop.

Just a heads up there’s a handful of editing weirdness between 6:30 and 7:30
