    Special thanks to MB, LS, CD and BC for their thoughts and opinions (which I borrowed) for this video.

    This is exactly what Ive been thinking about, a rule similar to basketball, I feel like a time limit wouldn’t really work because of behind the net defense but definitely a cap on the number of defenders in the crease

      @@bulldoge926 yeah that’s the only issue… behind the net defence. Maybe anything above cage is not allowed? Idk

    Not to mention you also take Bomberry out of the play by forcing him into the crease. He cant touch the ball until the next pass, so that might free up a D

    I would suggest a "must be moving through the crease" rule. Defenders cannot stand still while in the crease and, if they are in there, then they must be moving towards getting out. First offence = a warning and fresh shot clock for the O. Second offence = 2 minute penalty.

    • @BoxLacrosseBreakdown

      That would be an interesting concept. I kind of like that idea and solves for the problem of guarding somebody behind the cage

    I think you're overreacting. There is no reason for a team to pile in the crease like that. It is more detrimental than beneficial. I wouldn't let a team just fire as many open shots at the net as they want simply because I want to pile in the crease. If the league wants to limit the guys in the crease anyway that is fine, but I see a rule that would be hard to enforce because the refs have to juggle so much anyway.

      I disagree, I think it’s very doable and is 100% necessary for the good of lacrosse but understand your point of view

    i’m very new to lacrosse, i am mostly a basketball fan, there should either be a limit of people in the crease or a 5 seconds jn the paint sort of thing.

    Any team can do it, the Bandits are just more effective at it, partially because of their will to win and also because it compliments the way vinc plays. Looking forward to your videos when the Bandits win their third straight title next year.

      @BoxLacrosseBreakdown I think it is good for lacrosse. The fact that it neutralized torontos offense proves that. Toronto has a bunch of soft forwards who like to stand back and shoot, unwilling or able to cut or get hit in the mouth. Ironically enough, guys like Nanticoke and Frasier would be able to defeat this defense, but they play for the good guys!

    Lol, I was wondering if you were gonna make this video and I was thinking of your last video while I was watching the finals. Honestly, I can see a lot of arguments for and against this strategy. Like I said on your video last year, this is clearly a "for playoffs" only strategy since I do not think that it can be maintained for an entire season because it relies on the d-guy's willingness to soak shots in volume. As a d-player, I appreciate how effective this is but as spectator, it's utterly aggravating to watch Dawson and Priolo stand pinned to the pipes in the crease with their sticks down in the five hole waiting to get hit. I can see the argument for it as "good defense", but I am just not sure it is overall good for the game. For instance, what happens when offensive players are told to just start shelling the defenseman's knees and legs if they are going to stand there like that? Now, I am not sure if it should be banned just yet since I would contend that Matt Vinc and his nearly perfect angles is the key to making this work. Put another goalie in there and do you have the same success? I am not sure. On the reverse side, if every teams starts using this strategy, how will that effect powerplay scoring? Overall, I could get behind a rule change that effects only the man-down scenario similar to how there's no icing for a penalty killing team in hockey.

    I think your poverselling its effectiveness a little (a lot more of that comes down to Matt Vinc being Matt Vinc than you realize, the Bandits tried to use that to help Shanny and Orleman when Vinc went down with injuries and they still got lit up on the PK) but even as a Bandits fan I wouldn't mind pushing them up out of the crease, even if its only covering 85% of the net. I don't think you'll see widespread use though. Besides the durability issues, you have to have really good communication and spacial awareness on the D's part otherwise they end up doing more harm than good.

    • @BoxLacrosseBreakdown
      @BoxLacrosseBreakdown  3 месяца назад

      This is true but you also have a goaltender who probably isn’t used to playing in the NLL with the meat shield PK. Not underselling Vinc’s goaltending ability - but maybe Orleman and Shanny weren’t used to it?

    Should just be a rule that you have to be playing defense or offense. Can't just screen the goalie regardless of your position. Both are stupid and both can easily be solved by ref judgement at the professional level. Adding complexity adds complexity. Not necessary.

  • @lendube4169

    I don’t think you need to make a rule. I think that offensive players need to be more A-holes. If they want to sit there start ringing shots off of them
