Vincent, there is something you should mention: The dashboard on the Series X is in SDR and as soon as you switch to a game, that is when you are in HDR and thus your TV settings will also change. This is why setting it via the dashboard will have different default values to when doing so in game.
I performed these same steps with Q90T and RTX 3080 for PC gaming. After turning Game Motion Plus Off the details and graphics were Amazingly better. Setting the Dynamic Black Equalizer to zero fixed a lot of Black color issues on the Q90T. I can enjoy black colors again. Increasing the Gamma setting to 3 on the TV made a huge difference as well. The colors and picture quality are now very vibrant. I also disabled or not Enabled G-Sync setting. I haven't tried enabling G-Sync with the Game Motion Plus turned off, but with Game Motion Plus turned on and G-Sync enabled the graphics were very washed out and didn't look too good. I played Doom Eternal 4k@120 Hz.. the graphics and picture quality have never looked better. In fact, the TV's picture quality and the game graphics are significantly improved over the default settings and there's a noticeable difference. Thanks for making this video... this really made my day and significantly improved the picture quality for gaming on the Q90T.
Vincent!! I recently purchased a Samsung Q80T 65'' TV, after watching your review of it, and incredibly happy with it. Still using a PS4 Pro, as there is no stock of the PS5 yet. I can tell you that your settings looks absolutely AMAZING on the PS4 Pro as well, so you might have to add the PS4 Pro to the title of your video. 😊 WOW!! Had to go hug my TV after applying your settings. Cold War and Battlefield 1 looks incredible! Thank you so much. ❤ @HDTVTest
I also have enjoyed these settings on PS4 Pro. The real game changer was increasing gamma to +3. At the default value of 0, some games didn't look right and the brightness would fluctuate constantly
I had to switch on dynamic contrast to low to make it a little brighter and raised the color slightly too. Just my preference, but otherwise yes good settings
I had the QN90A and now S95B and when gaming on the XBOX SERIES X I also need contrast enhancer on LOW if not the picture if DIM and DULL! I believe this option is not need on SDR but really on HDR
I actually watched all your videos on OLED and QLED and based on your professional opinion and testing I went for the QLED. I have seen a OLED since and they do look great but I am very happy with the Q90T QLED and now with these updated settings you just made me feel even better about my choice. It seemed overly bright out of the box on all games and I was looking at very bright colours thinking thats not how its meant to look. Now it looks mint and Ive just got 47 eliminations and 10 Deaths on Cold War Nuketown on the new settings so they definately helped me personally. To note though my TV switched to 2086 once I loaded Call of duty so I had to do the settings you did on PS5. Then when I closed Cold war it went back to 1886 so I did the settings for that again. Awesome video and again thanks for your time man doing all the testing and putting it all out there just intime for me to make the right TV and Console choice. Got a subscriber for life here anyway. Happy new year man!
Very cool to finally see Vincent tackle the exact hardware I've got. I felt a surge of immense nerd pride every time he picked a setting that I already have. A few notes! (totally just my opinion of course): * I find that, depending on the game, bringing color from 25 up to somewhere between 30-40 can help make the colors pop out of the screen. Doing this with some games will result in oversaturation, but others it'll make it just right. * The Local Dimming options don't seem to make a difference in games. At least nothing I've been able to perceive with my eye. Huge difference for movies / TV though, and I often swap between Standard and High depending on the content. * Contrast Enhancer Off will give the most natural image for sure, but I do find that bringing it up to Low can help with some games that feature darker areas. Worth a shot if you are frustrated with things appearing too dim. * I'm very surprised by the number of times I've seen the "Warm 2" color tone recommended. I find it looks like you're slapping a crude Sepia tone filter on the image, simultaneously muting things and making them more orange than they should be. I've tried it out a couple times, but when I bring it back to Standard I'm always way happier. I wonder if maybe Warm 2 in conjunction with all of the other settings Vincent has chosen will surprise me, as there are few other things I do differently as well. * It's a relief to see him put Gamma all the way up to 3, and to see a test conducted to rationalize it! I always thought that adding to this slider produced the same kind of "artificial" brightness that Contrast Enhancer does, damaging the natural quality of the image. But now I will gladly go back and try this out. * Color Space Auto is another interesting choice. I have found I almost always go with Native. If you take yourself to a place in-game that features a lot of green (especially in something like AC Valhalla, with its trees and rolling plains) and you toggle between Auto and Native, you'll find that things look infinitely more lush and full on Native. Auto tends to rob things of their colorization. That being said!! Perhaps Auto, in conjunction with Warm 2, High Gamma and Contrast Enhancer Off, will give me a better image than I've yet seen. Can't wait to try it out. * One thing that Vincent passed over is in the External Devices menu. HDMI Black Level. In other videos I've seen him say he prefers to stick with Auto, which is likely the best choice. I have found, though, that setting this to Low can give you a crisper look. In Demon's Souls, for example, it really rounds the edges of things and makes the blacks feel super black. Just something to try out. * Vincent also always recommends HGiG, which I imagine from a professional calibration standpoint is the way to be. I've had some fun experimenting with it though. If you're trying to get your settings just right, and you can't quite get there, try disabling HGiG and running through everything again. In Spider-Man Miles Morales, for example, I was having a hell of a time getting the game to stop looking purple, or blown out, and it wasn't until I disabled HGiG that I finally found my perfect setup. Again these are just some thoughts! I obviously have nowhere near the professional experience that Vincent does, but I've spent the better part of two months obsessing over this TV and console so I just wanted to provide some alternative ideas. Every display is different and every model comes calibrated differently, so in case any of you aren't pleased with the way yours is looking, hopefully this gives you some inspiration for how to further play around with your settings.
How do you feel all the settings set the way he did played out for you? Mainly the Warm 2 setting as I felt the same thing w the sepia comment you made
@@matthewsoldano I gave it a try and just couldn't get into it. Having so many settings on a TV can be weird though. When you first make a switch you'll be like "ugh, no way!" But if you leave the new settings on for a while you may warm up to it and even like it more than where you had it before. For example changes to Local Dimming, Gamma levels or Shadow Detail can really improve things, but it takes time to be sure. That being said, I really don't feel that Warm 2 is a good setting for any game that I've played so far. I find it bizarre that so many analysts say it gives the "truest" color when it makes everything so orange.
@@DeepDarkBoys Appreciate your indepth comments and response bro . So was just wondering what is the full breakdown of your settings in terms of how they differ to these? The settings around eco solution and putting the Sharpness to 0 definitely improved things although for me my games don’t look as good with Warm2, no contrast enhancer and the gamma on 3. Especially Warm2, way too brown for my personal taste. Playing ghost of tushima right now and it definitely looks better with contrast enhancer on low with standard colour tone and default gamma. Thank you for this video all the same.
Great job, as usual, Vincent! I'd love a video explaining exactly what those EOTF curve graphs actually show. Even upon pausing, I don't quite understand what I'm looking at. This might be helpful for the community as well.
@@jermyjimnz9475 the natural mode saturates the colors because it uses the native color space if you want to have realistic colors and be as close as possible to the designer's attentions, release this natural mode for me and set the color space to auto.
Thank you! I just bought a s95 and about to lose my mind as to why my games weren't displaying but streaming services were! Greatly appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us.
I have looked at hours of online videos of TV's and I keep coming back to the q80. The CX is amazing but I am a pretty heavy gamer and the idea of burn in worries me. I currently have a Samsung ue55ks8000 from 2015/16 but need something bigger. I was wondering if anyone has experience of swapping from that TV and if the q80t is a noticable step up in HDR performance especially in game mode?
Thanks for this Vincent. It’s actually confirmed to me that my VRR is definitely “broken”. With the series x and my Q95t, as soon as I have VRR enabled, the picture has this white haze to it that simply doesn’t go away, no matter what good advice I look up.
Juste un case, only work with no amp within console ans TV, you have to put thé console directly on TV on HDMI number 4, with a good HDMI câble. HDR and VRR work only in game mode activate.
I think many are still confused on how to achieve reasonably accurate calibration of peak HDR on PS5 and XSX with the Q95T/Q90T. If 14 or 15 clicks from the darkest point = 1000 nits, and the Q95T/Q90T can achieve 1700 nits on a 10% window after calibration - how many clicks then would equal, say, 1700-1900 nits? Thank you.
The clipping point applies to the source input code value, not the actual peak brightness output of the TV. In [HGiG] mode, before dynamic tone-mapping, the Q90T/ Q95T also starts rolling off around 1000 nits, so 14-15 clicks should work.
@@hdtvtest Thanks for the explanation! I was always wondering why the HDR calibration screen in AC: Valhalla on my PS4/5 would just improve brightness up to 1000 nits, but 1000 and 1100 nits (or higher) look identical. I own a 65Q90T and thougt it may be an AC: Valhalla bug. But due to your post, I got the reason. I have now calibrated the Q90Ts game mode like you recommended in the video above and I am superhappy with the picture! I also changed the HDR settings on the PS5 like you suggestet (15/15/0). Great job, thanks.
This may be actually useful for someone reading, for AC Valhalla on PS5 and Q80T, I found a really good workaround to avoid washed out colors (especially black on HDR), following exact this video instructions + shadow details on -5 and contrast enhancer to high.
@@hdtvtest Does this apply for the Xbox Series X as well? I noticed that you skipped rising the gamma value when you switched to the Series X TV settings, leaving it at "default 0".
Thanks for this video Vincent. Unfortunately, I have the 2018 Samsung QLED and it only supports HDMI 2.0. So, the best I can get from the PS5 is YUV422 when the resolution is set to 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz. But, I was able to use your Samsung settings in my TV as well. My question, however, is that the games themselves (such as Ghost of Tsushima) has its own Display Settings menu which includes a Brightness and UI Brightness (HDR) setting. What am I supposed to set these to?
I just can't get used to Warm2, it doesn't look accurate at all. Trees and grass look more lush, but snow looks dirty and the sky looks turquoise. Standard does look a little cool but atleast the Skys are Sky Blue and the snow is Cool White
Each to their own but Sharpness for me needs to be increase a lot. I'd put it close to max. It makes a huge difference in the picture quality. After messing with my settings I found the two most import settings that make a difference is actually Sharpness and Color. Increasing those make the picture look a lot more detailed and is a huge difference. I'd suggest just trying it and seeing how you like it.
@@pashwayar don't knock it till you try it. Picture looks a lot better with Sharpness up to max. Why would you want it blurry is beyond me and having it at 0 is just that. Sharpness is the key.
I set it to the middle. I think that is essentially "off". If you look closely at the pixals it looks to be the closest to the raw input. Setting to 0 drives me crazy as the font is blurry but max also does not work as the font is not that clear either.
@@grinder2829 but not all the game work at performance....all the old game is 30fps or 60fps....performance mode wont make the game 120.....just if the game is created for ...
In my case some settings needed to be different: 3:45 Sharpness of 2 instead of zero to have no sharpening/blurring! You can test this by creating a tiled-background from a 4-pixel square with two diagnonally placed pixels. 7:10 Color space setting of "Native" is more accurate in my case.
Nice video, Would you recommend more or less the same settings for watching movies or would I have to change the settings when I play games and watch movies ?
Yes, you should engaging [HGiG] even though dynamic tone-mapping will still be applied. We didn't show it in this video, because we already did it in a previous one: ruclips.net/video/xW4waiMa1_g/видео.html

Yeah I’ve turned it off for now although in the video seemed on but when you boot up call of duty the HDR disappears I hope Vincent can do a video on this Samsung please respond, we need hdr 120hz @ 4K on Ps5
@Prince van Zee yeah man it is a little darker but i like that vibe for cyberpunk i did mess around a little with other settings i didnt do his 100 percent.
Good stuff as always Vincent, I do a lot of videos with the Q90T I definitely agree with a lot your settings and they are very similar to what I’m already running I noticed on SDR using auto color profile it appears washed out but native is pops a lot more is auto performing correctly in SDR? I am a definitely huge fan of Game Motion Plus for 30fps games especially Switch games also on Series X for CyberPunk quality mode. As far as boosting the gamma I have have played around with this overall and for some games I think you can run +3 on the gamma but on darker games I definitely think most people would find it too washed out you got to play at 0 due to some dimming limitations, maybe this is more necessary on the 80T. Keep up the awesome work!!
Hi Vincent such an amazing video thank you. I would like to add for those having issues with the scan lines I have found a way to remove them and still maintain picture quality. Put game motion plus on and then set blur reduction to 0 and judder reduction to 1. The reason you should set judder reduction to 1 is to maintain the colour of the initial picture as for some reason it discolours the image when judder reduction is set to 0. This is the best way to have an awesome picture without those horrible horizontal scan lines.
Thanks for the info. We did mention it as a side benefit of engaging [Game Motion Plus] at 5:00 in this video, but bear in mind that doing so would also increase the input lag.
thank you very much! glad to see that my settings were pretty similair already. and thanks for your explination regarding the increase of st.2084, i always had it between +2 or +3 and was wondering what an expert would say about that. :)
also glad to see that you keep the color space settings to "auto". a lot of youtubers recommend "native" and i always found the colors to be oversaturated then.
this is because you are used to saturated and unrealistic colors that go against the designer's attention. This calibration allows you to have realistic colors and as close as possible to the designer's attention.
Sorry if you mentioned this, but when adjusting the HDR on ps4 and ps5, should I do that before engaging HGIG or after? Because HGIG makes the test pattern appear brighter.
You should do that -after- you engaged HGIG. Because otherwise you calibrate your Console+TV-Combo in a mode that you will not use. HGIG is a function to tell the TV not to "touch" anything about the tone mapping the console is putting out.
I set up the TV myself and was very pleased that my settings matched yours, except for the moment with auto brightness, I had intuitive !thank you for the review, everything is clear and without fluff! please tell me, Samsung QN85B 120 hertz 4-HDMI 2.1, PS-5 Slim Apple TV 4k 2022, will I get 120 hertz with the game mode enabled on the TV via Apple TV? or is it possible to watch 4k 120 hertz only on PS 5?
Hey. My German 65" Q95T definitely does suffer from it. Even with the 1460 firmware. It shows in all games and makes some almost unplayable. It's a shame because apart from this, picture quality is amazing. I am trying to get a refund currently and get a different TV. If that doesn't work and Samsung won't fix it I will be very disappointed, having spent 2300€ for my new gaming TV, that got a lot of got reviews, but none mentioned this very annoying problem. I'd be very, very thankful if someone with a bit more "power" could get Samsung to make a statement about this situation. In my opinion this is unacceptable
@Congisto Marxista Oh this. Thanks! Yes, it helps a bit, but it's still there in any mode, in 4k120 you can't even access game motion plus. What I really would like to know is if this is a problem that can be solved with a firmware update or not. That's the decisive point to me. And it's so weird, because in the US it seems to be gone for month now, but not in the EU, and I wonder what's the reason for it.
@Congisto Marxista OLED is not an option for me, sorry. I've had a few LCD Tv's and none of them had any issues with this, they did a good job on motion handling.
This TV has some pretty underrated gaming features (dynamic black equalizer is awesome on competitive games with dark areas, and the game motion plus removes alot of the judder on low framerate games)
You mean to turn up the brightness in order to see in dark areas? I'd only recommend game motion plus for story based games as that added input delay makes games feel really sluggish.
@@JeffZ1028 I am super particular to input lag. I would never use it for a FPS game but on cyberpunk and ghost of tsushima it is great.. (reason why it is okay with cyberpunkis the controls are horrible, adding input lag doesn't really affect the feel) - also the change in input lag is still better than most TVs (its only 25ms as opposed to the 6ms in 4k120hz mode) and yes to increase the brightness in dark areas (specifically the night time mode on Warzone this helped alot) you could change the brightness in game but this is a quick and easy setting to use that helps specifically dark areas and requires no altering of any other settings.
@@SKLLZTHATKILLZ I had issues with Cyberpunk's controls as well but after messing a bit with the settings it feels like a VERY solid fps and the guns feel 10x better. Fine tuning it to your liking can make a HUGE difference in my opinion, seriously, it felt really sluggish to me at first as well. I suggest turning down the "Turning Ramp-up Time" and try out the different "Response Curve" options to see which one feels good to you. That input delay isn't bad at all but it can make aiming in shooters feel "off" if ever so slightly but I'd probably use it for Cyberpunk as well unless I was on the next gen consoles or pc with 60fps of course.
For me the best settings I have found are to set Everything to standard or off. Gamma on 2, For some games dynamic contrast on and some off (COD CW seems to like it on) Then on the Xbox HDR calibration turn (HGIG on) the black level up quite a bit (until peoples eye colour and nearby objects are sufficiently bright, too much and it will make the distant sky and clouds too bright) then turn the next 2 for white calibration up until the blocks disappear (if the sky in games is too bright and washed out then turn it down until it looks ok). HGIG off for max brightness or HGIG on for certain games. I leave Dynamic contrast on low though would prefer it off if Samsung would brighten everything up a bit without it though it seems they designed the HGIG profiles and the screen seems to dim/lack of contrast without it.
Since the 2014 update my current settings are everything to off or standard. Hgig on, black equaliser and gamma to full. Dynamic contrast to off. Make sure you re calibrate hdr on xbox when you turn dynamic contrast off.
I just updated my TV accordingly and damn, SO much better. It looks better (subjective), FPS increased and are more stable. And some issues I used to have where fog in games would look weird, or the lighting would change dramatically at certain angles, all resolved!
Great video! The ”scan lines” that appears at 4:40 when you turn off game motion plus, do you know why they appears? That is something that first appeared with firmware version 1403, at least for me. So my amatur conclusion is that Samsung could fix it right? Also, the color some what desaturates at the same moment. Just look at the blue UI background. Whats that?
Did you ever find out more on the scan lines , have 55" q80t and Samsung claim it's normal and up to spec, keep telling me it's a problem with the ps5...
@@ola326 have you kept the TV? I've tried to get a refund but I'm having no luck.. Ridiculous there claiming it's up to spec still and not the TV that's causing the problem.
Thanks for the video. But what about HDR in 120 hz mode with the PS5? It's seems to work with the Series X, but with my ps5, my TV goes back to SDR when 120 hz mode is enabled. I wonder if it's a (temporary) ps5 limitation.
Thank you, Vincent, for all the efforts and for putting up with some comments down below ... As others as well, me too would be very curious about best settings in SDR and HDR. Maybe also for some two point white balancing ;-)

At 7:51 you can see the scrolling lines that are caused by game mode. It's extremely distracting, I find games unplayable with that happening. Is it a defect?
Turn Game Motion Plus On with Blur Reduction, Judder Reduction and LED Clear Motion Off. The rolling scanlines will completely disappear. The increase in input lag is impossible to detect with gameplay.
I tried this for the Q95T. I happy with it. Its a great baseline. Can always adjust to suit your needs from here. I was a little shocked that you have the brightness maxed out.
@HDTVTEST Hi Vincent, your video is very nice, compliment! I saw that as me also your TV have the little flickering and horizontal banding on the screen. I did more test with my xbox series x and my TV 55Q80T, and I found out that the only way for now to solve flickering\banding problem is to set 120 Hz without VRR or 60 Hz without VRR and only in this particular case with with Game Motion Plus Enabled. There is a solution to solve these issues and have the VRR enable without these problem? I hope that samsung solve this issue definitly with next release of the firmware. Thanks in advance for you reply ;)
@@RS-qo1mx you've probably figured this out by now, but the streaming apps on ps4/5 don't output at 4k for some reason. Everything will be higher resolution if you stream from the apps straight from your TV. Youll need to adjust the settings though since your TV won't force everything to be HDR like your playstation does.
2 questions...are you leaving adaptive picture mode on or off? And also, I use the PS5 to stream movies as well as gaming. With game mode set to auto, my q80t changes game mode on and off automatically when I switch from playing a game to watching Netflix, even tho I am not changing the source on the tv and everything is coming from the PS5. I think that’s very cool that the tv knows what I am doing within the PS5. So my second question is are these settings ok to use if I am streaming movies and gaming with the PS5?
I thought the same when I first changed to the so called accurate image I was like I don’t care if it’s accurate it looks like ass , I gave myself a month of the recommend setting and can honestly say I can’t ever go back to my default game mode of sharpness 50% Contrast Enhancer on Standard colour tone and native spacing , the new image is just so clean and fluid looking compared to the eye sore I thought looked good , but when going back I instantly noticed grass was blindingly green, trees where shimmering so much it felt like they were moving ,white lines clearly visible on armour sets in Elden Ring and shimmering from shields and weapons were very off putting , cloud detail was non existent just a blinding blended white with no grey or yellow where the sun was breaking through, details on black and dark clothing were missing as anything grey or dark grey was overblown into an inky black so not visible. There is method to his madness games are far far more detailed now and that first impression of colour pop and wow factor of all the settings cranked up has long gone and games are all consistently looking nice and clean and motion looks so much more fluid .
Hold up a white piece of paper with sunlight in the background when your tv is showing a white only image. All other tones look too blue for what a real life white looks like.
Agree, I leave it in standard and native, auto look color less , yeah no accurate, but what's the point of having a Samsung if you don't have color saturation, in that case buy a Sony for wash out colors yellowish tones.
Hello, super video. You're great. I want to ask, can I use this setting together with hdr calibration settings (680->1000nits) on this TV that you posted a few days ago ? And does it work well on all games? Thanks for the reply. Happy holidays to you and your family
Hey Vincent, I would greatly appreciate it if you could make a similar video with the Samsung qn90a. I've been having a lot of trouble with getting it to look right with my Xbox Series X with lots of areas being completely blown out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for the detailed instructions. Played a lot before with my Q85R for PS5 gaming, and couldn’t achieve those results. Glad for your video!!
Vincent the picture just seems too dark for me so I turned on contrast enhancer to Low. And with the gamma up to 3 yes the picture looked washed out so I turned that to 1. It’s even more dark on Xbox series x and for some reason when I start a game the picture settings change. I have an Q80T and I’m in the USA. Great videos btw. I don’t think it’s the TV I think it’s just HDMI 2.1 trying to do it’s things with HDR. And the Xbox series x has multiple HDR options as well and it’s own calibration tool.
I have the same TV and Series X as you. The washed out thing was fixed by a combination of a few things. On Q80T > General > External Device Manager > Make sure Auto Black Level is set to Auto. On Color Space settings, like he says in the vid, make sure it is Auto. On the X Box itself choose the standard color space (the other option says RGB, but thats not the RGB chroma people think it is, Vincent explains it in another video). You should notice the screen is way much more "solid" looking. Then you can do the gamma +3 and it lightens up nice while still not looking washed out. After all that is done, you can recalibrate the Xbox HDR settings (from vincents other video) with the Black level 0 or 1, and 14 clicks for both Brightness settings and most HDR will look great in HGIG. (well unless its tone mapped like Cyberpunk, that one has an in game tuning that you have to dial in on top of everything else). It worked for me.

His settings give you the most accurate image, colors are not supposed to look cartoony and over saturated, people complain about this for HDR, no matter what brand the tv is, natural colors are not over saturated and nuclear looking. HDR is supposed to give you the most life like colors, if you think the image is supposed to be blown out with colors, watch rec709 content with bt2020 enabled, you'll see how bad it is. He also noted that the Samsung tv will wash a bit of the colors out in general because its just how Samsung builds a tv, the last Samsung I owned was the Q8FN and it gave me nothing but trouble, I had this dark purple tint across the whole border of the screen and the dirty screen effect was horrendous. Pls don't further spam here. I'm waiting for Vincent to check this and reply.
Dear Vincent pls take a look on color space issue for HDR. Under custom sub menu Whatever we choose it is force outputting on Auto. It is not changing according to games as you mentioned. In Sony TV's it is always BT2020 when set color space to Auto. So can we choose BT2020 Under custom sub menu and then switch it auto or can we choose custom BT2020 always? Pls help out on this.
So would you say this is for single player games for graphics or performance for PvP, I'm more of a PvP players is why I'm asking, frame rate if important
I see that you also have those scrolling gray bars moving from the bottom of the screen to the top. How can this problem be resolved? It drives me crazy in some games and in the xbox menus.
I think the q90r would be different cause the q90r has a different/brighter Contrast ratio, but allot of the setting would be the same, the adjustments would be different on the Ps5 HDR ajustments
I know this is an old video but I am rather disappointed with how my QLED performs in Game Mode. Have two options really: with GMP off you get a very dull image, which tends to crush a lot of details on small bright objects in dark scenes and with GMP on you get a vastly superior IQ but have to deal with those ugly overshoot interpolation artifacts and inverse ghosting. Got it mainly because a year ago a decently bright OLED would cost you a ton more. Really is a bummer since now brighter OLEDs are way more affordable and I am stuck with Samsung.
@@loglife2 still not as vivid and bright as with contrast enhancer on. I see no real detail lost with the enhancer on low and its a much brighter picture. People say its more true to the creator. Thats rubbish IMO. I bet the creator wants you to see what they have created

@@Abudness I have a Q70R and set mine almost identical for Cyberpunk 2077. The only thing I didn't have the same and haven't tried yet is gamma at +3. The biggest change was when I set the black level to 0. It made a huge difference in the game. Also color tone at warm 2 looks better than others.
@@Abudness I'm running the game with HDR on and it looks better with these settings. Originally my black level was set at 4 and my color tone was cool. Just going to warm 2 and zero made a huge difference. HDR in game is set at 650, 100, and 1 respectively. Not sure if this is what you were asking but hope it helps.
Really good tips! Although my eyes can't tolarate maxed out brightness / backlight for HDR content, I always play games at night, with no lights at all, so I turn on the Eco Solution feature. I know I'm losing details and screwing up the HDR concept, but my eyes simply can't stand that much light. Should I just turn off HDR on the PS5 and stick to SDR?
Vincent, there is something you should mention: The dashboard on the Series X is in SDR and as soon as you switch to a game, that is when you are in HDR and thus your TV settings will also change. This is why setting it via the dashboard will have different default values to when doing so in game.
You can easily check by going to the Gamma setting. If it's in HDR, it will show ST.2084.
Facts!
So do you just use the settings he showed for the PS5 for the Series X too?
Omg I think this is my issue. Whenever I got back to dashboard it's all dark
I corrected my original comment... but Warm 2 picture is the way to go.. just as you said.
Vincent!! I recently purchased a Samsung Q80T 65'' TV, after watching your review of it, and incredibly happy with it. Still using a PS4 Pro, as there is no stock of the PS5 yet.

Yup
Hey Vincent, do you have a vid on settings for normal SDR and HDR viewing? If not, could you give me some do's and do not's?
Very cool to finally see Vincent tackle the exact hardware I've got. I felt a surge of immense nerd pride every time he picked a setting that I already have. A few notes! (totally just my opinion of course):
* I find that, depending on the game, bringing color from 25 up to somewhere between 30-40 can help make the colors pop out of the screen.

Each to their own but Sharpness for me needs to be increase a lot. I'd put it close to max. It makes a huge difference in the picture quality. After messing with my settings I found the two most import settings that make a difference is actually Sharpness and Color. As far as boosting the gamma I have have played around with this overall and for some games I think you can run +3 on the gamma but on darker games I definitely think most people would find it too washed out you got to play at 0 due to some dimming limitations, maybe this is more necessary on the 80T.

@Congisto Marxista Oh this. Thanks!
(reason why it is okay with cyberpunkis the controls are horrible, adding input lag doesn't really affect the feel) - also the change in input lag is still better than most TVs (its only 25ms as opposed to the 6ms in 4k120hz mode)
and yes to increase the brightness in dark areas (specifically the night time mode on Warzone this helped alot) you could change the brightness in game but this is a quick and easy setting to use that helps specifically dark areas and requires no altering of any other settings.
Turned hdmi black level to standard (oops) can't access in game mode but still changes things in game mode.
Whats that?
I noticed the colour differences with GMP too, although it only happens when the colour space is set to native and all the GMP settings are at 0.
Did you ever find out more on the scan lines , have 55" q80t and Samsung claim it's normal and up to spec, keep telling me it's a problem with the ps5...
There is nothing wrong with the ps5. I first saw it on my ps4 with firmware 1403, nothing before that.

Mine is doing the exact same tho Nd
same here.
Samsung claims it's a PS5 issue that Sony is planning to resolve via firmware. It was supposed to be resolved by March 2021.
Does enabling the HDR on PS5 make the picture significantly dimmer? Is it normal?
Thank you, Vincent, for all the efforts and for putting up with some comments down below ...
As others as well, me too would be very curious about best settings in SDR and HDR. Maybe also for some two point white balancing ;-)
Would these settings also apply for the Frame TV 2022 + Xbox series X?
QLEDs don't suffer from "burn-in" issues, right?
Right
These settings made my game look dark and blury with alot more tearing well playing versus having game motion plus on. I did my own settings and now my game looks crisp bright and colorful as if you were actually there

I think we are all having this issue. I wonder if its the PS5 or the TV itself
There's an article by Forbes discussing this issue, but they haven't heard anything back from Samsung or Sony on the matter yet.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video Vincent. Been waiting for this one. Cheers. Merry Christmas!
At 7:51 you can see the scrolling lines that are caused by game mode. It's extremely distracting, I find games unplayable with that happening. Is it a defect?
I have the same on my tv, it is really distracting in some games and in the xbox menus!
I was a little shocked that you have the brightness maxed out.
what setting do you have for watching football? do you mind share it ? :)
@@Uuuung Sorry I'm afraid I only watch footy via RUclips on a standard setting.
Just got my Samsung 80 today put these settings on games look amazing thankyou for doing this
Thanks man !! Can you also do a video for picture settings when watching netflix or sports app with the ps5 ..
The Netflix app on the Samsung QLED TVs is much better than the PS one.
@@kingrofty why ? And what about other apps ?
@@RS-qo1mx you've probably figured this out by now, but the streaming apps on ps4/5 don't output at 4k for some reason. Everything will be higher resolution if you stream from the apps straight from your TV. Youll need to adjust the settings though since your TV won't force everything to be HDR like your playstation does.
@@FruitlessRoaster yes i did .. ps5 Just for gaming 😁 thanks
Warm2 looks so yellowish though, doesn't really look good. Don't understand how it can be the most accurate
Same thing with Auto Vs Native. Even if Auto is more accurate, Native looks better.
You are used to not accurate images. That's why. And most close to is not precisely accurate to. The best is to calibrate the display.
Do this settings work on a nintendo switch or what settings should I change ?

Vincent is the man!
Been watching you for years. Thanks for all the hard work so we can enjoy our tellys 👍🏼
Contrast enhancer on low looking good in my opinion because as you said thr picture is very dark since i use the ps5

Hi Vincent! US Q80T owner here! Thanks for your advise. I'm always seeking for the most accurate picture settings for my TV and video games(and i tend to be a little obsessed with it sometimes). What do you say about Gamma on SDR content? I see you left it on BT.1886 on your video, but it seems to make shadows a lot more darker than the 2.2 Gamma setting on this TV. Wich is correct?
Just curious, why not activate HGiG?
@Daniele: Does that mean that you don’t have to change any settings on your tv when HGiG is enabled? I mean, I have set the settings in SDR like the settings on this video but does that mean I need to set the settings in HDR the same as in SDR or just enable HGiG and leave anything as default on the tv?
@@michaelc.8957 I use more or less same settings as this video + enabling HGiG and I have a pretty good result, but I am not an expert, is just based on my personal opinion and experience

How about a video for best picture settings for sdr, hdr and dolby vision content on the lg cx?

Vincent pls recheck "color format" because when we choose auto on samsung it always outputs what we choose on the sub menu (dci or bt2020). And auto always outputs DCI-P3 which looks washed-out. Switching it custom BT2020 looks much better. Can you pls recheck this part and reply. really appreciate your great work for the gaming community.
Thanks
I switched to the Sony 900h and its been great, they don't disable the local dimming for game mode and the HDR on it looks way better.
@@wodensthrone5215 you clearly don't understand my question. I have the same issue on samsung q90r.
Dear Vincent pls take a look on color space issue for HDR. Under custom sub menu Whatever we choose it is force outputting on Auto. It is not changing according to games as you mentioned.
It is called dse and it varies from panel to panel. Cant be fixed unfortunately unless you switch the panel.
You helped me out so much! Thank you! I couldn’t find no other video explaining it like you did! Keep it up man!
Would the Q90r (2019) be the same?
I think the q90r would be different cause the q90r has a different/brighter Contrast ratio, but allot of the setting would be the same, the adjustments would be different on the Ps5 HDR ajustments
Can you advise what to set the HDMI Black Level setting on the Samsung to: Auto, low, or normal?
Please do a best settings video for the ‘LG NanoCell 85 Series 2020’! :D
I did get that tv as well. They focus more on the OLED-QLED TVs
Nano crushes blacks too much and has that local dimming issue, you'd be better off with the q90t or and Oled
Could you please provide gaming settings for a Q70t with a PC having a HDMI 2.1 GPU?
I know this is an old video but I am rather disappointed with how my QLED performs in Game Mode. Have two options really: with GMP off you get a very dull image, which tends to crush a lot of details on small bright objects in dark scenes and with GMP on you get a vastly superior IQ but have to deal with those ugly overshoot interpolation artifacts and inverse ghosting. Got it mainly because a year ago a decently bright OLED would cost you a ton more. Really is a bummer since now brighter OLEDs are way more affordable and I am stuck with Samsung.
Should you not calibrate the HDR after changing these settings for the ps5 rather than before?
exactly
Vincent, with contrast enhancer off, the image is too dark in HDR gaming, why?
Try increasing the gamma instead. It will brighten the picture up, but won’t blow out highlights.
@@loglife2 still not as vivid and bright as with contrast enhancer on. I see no real detail lost with the enhancer on low and its a much brighter picture. People say its more true to the creator. Thats rubbish IMO. I bet the creator wants you to see what they have created
