I remember reading somewhere that Todd Edwards (Who provides the vocals for this song) has said there are probably about 75 samples all together in Face to Face...
Co-produced by my friend Todd Edwards. Todd Edwards’ style is to create musical collages out of hundreds of samples. His music is iconic and no wonder he is nicknamed Todd The God. Daft Punk were on point asking him to collab twice (again on Fragment of Time). The sampling here (and on the chorus of FOT) are all Todd. Plus he wrote and sang the vocals on both. He’s a legend!
Basically you're saying that Daft Punk did barely 10% of the work. 🤣 Yes yes, it worked to say that 20 years ago when a large part of people had fun saying that they were frauds, entire videos on the samples where 80% of the comments were negative, people said that it was DJ nothing more, as a French person I found it so unfair that I wasted a lot of energy defending them and trying to open the eyes of all these detractors. Then they silenced the whole planet with Alive 2007, the Tron Legacy Soundtrack and RAM. People saw their creative genius and stopped calling them frauds and called them legends. Just watch the making of Random Access Memories, Thomas Bangalter directs his collaborators like a film director attentive to the smallest detail, whether it's Pharell, Chily Gonzales or Todd. They are huge hard workers.
@@Airlink_SG Thomas is a genius, not taking anything away from them, they’re incredible. Just saying Todd was brought on board for a reason, and they utilised his skills and technique to perfection. Just check out any of Todd’s music to hear that sound of his in full force. He’s iconic in his own right. Daft Punk are incredible.
love Todd's sampling technique. If i remember right, it's said he developed that micro-sampling technique due to gear limitations at the beginning of his career (could only do very small snippets of samples). Who knew that would pave the way to create & innovate his unique style (which later pioneered the sound that is now known as Garage/UK Garage). A truer definition of Pioneer is hard to come by, and coupled with Daft Punk is a deadly combo!
Face to face has always been my favorite song by them 😍 Also no joke I had to go back here and type this because I was just in the middle of typing "The beat is just too infectious" only for you to say it about 3 seconds later LOLL. I think the chopped up sounds had my little kid brain going crazy, and then when I discovered (pun very much intended) all of the samples, it blew my mind and just solidified it for me. Then of course Todd Edwards really pulls it all together as a bona fide bop 🤌 That movie became such a huge part of my childhood, and YES -- the feeling of relief it gives is so warm and incredible. Masterpiece collab💎
@@seppuku- Yes, the intro which is repeated within the song is based on the sampled sound from "Evil Woman", the riff right after the chorus, words..."the Evil Woman..."
Fellas! Bruce Springsteen and Jakob Dylan (The Wallflowers) live at the MTV Awards in 1997: ruclips.net/video/xY3q69KWqb4/видео.html. The Boss shreds and duets with Jakob. It's a banger. Peace out.
This sounds nothing like video game music (also, define "video game music"). Every tastes exit in this world. Even the shittiest one. Kudos to you to be admitting that publically.

holy shit wow amazing
Jesus! I mean, I know the song is amazing, but still!
Not 75, they compiled that amount of samples, but they only used 21 actually.
@@Ayala2004 yeah but there are still some that haven’t been identified
And people are still discovering what they are all these years later
This song hits even harder with three heads bopping in sync as the visual

Goddamn I love sample culture so much. What an amazing sound when masterfully applied.
Genuinely one of the most hopeful songs I've ever listened to, and the music video adds so much more to it

All I see where hearing this song is it is in the future and Vesendic (Mick Jagger) is saying “Mr. Furlong?”

Seriously, this should go to Freejack. Someone make a video and sync Mick’s massive lips to the song.
Alright 👍👍👍
I think they misinterpreted the “Christopher ro..” sample for “face to face”
Yea but it really sounds like "face to face" I think that was the intention
@@titicaca. oh I never really felt the resemblance until they mentioned it
I heard it like "Mr.Fermob" for me.
Was going to comment this lol, I actually used to think the same thing before I saw one of the sample vids for the first time
When are we getting more dp? :(
Aiming for summertime
They are not my favorite. I was open to it and watched through this journey. Enjoyed the videos (story). But I really like this song!
Like the message...
Pretty sure it's pronounced "very-dis co" or very disco...since, you know ...."Dis-co-ver-y"...

I don't like any of it. Sounds like video game music which I mute when i'm playing the game.Retro Crap.I.M.H.O.
"Be like water my friend"
how sad is your life that you have to mute a videogame music? some videogames music are like orchestras wtf

What amazing video games have you been listening to? Or rather, refusing to listen to?
What are you doing here Rick Beato?
