  • We got our hands on some of the top Fishing Kayaks available today with the intent on moving away from our Hobie 360's. We were looking for light, fast and flexible setups that offer stability and VALUE. We also wanted to provide insight to potential buyers as you approach dropping a ton of money on a fishing kayak. All we can say is we were REALLY surprised with how this turned out and we can sefely say you should ALWAYS test a kayak out before you buy it!
D & R Sports in Kalamazoo Michigan made this possible for us. They are one of a VERY limited set of dealers who will let you try before you buy (WE LOVE THIS). They didn't pay us a dime but they did offer us their time and we are very grateful for it.
If you're looking for a fishing kayak, fishing boat, fishing gear...or ANY hunting or fishing gear for that matter you can got to their gorgeous storefront OR check them out online at vandamwarehous...

I looked at all of these before getting the Nucanoe Unlimited. I'm glad I did but you are right you will need to get accessories to make it your own. I think you have to think about how you like to fish. Whether it's sitting down or you prefer standing? Do you fish small ponds or fast moving rivers and creeks? Or do you fish big open water to large lakes? You have to understand your style and the kind of water you fish is key. Now you have to marry that up to your budget of course. I went with the Unlimited for tournament fishing. I fish everything and it is a jack of all trades. After tournament fishing in 28* weather to 100^ heat, thunderstorms, big waves and 20mph plus winds I'm happy with the Nucanoe unlimited. It's a beast. So when I watch these ranking videos I have to laugh because it's not a true representation of what kayak shines in different conditions. Great video guys!

You guys really liked the spot lock. I am interested in your feedback on trolling motor vs pedal. My primary use would be running up river or trolling. I want to be able to fish on the move. For the model of pedal boat I’d choose (probably old town big water 132) the pedal model would be faster. I could put a motor guide xi3 on my shoalie and have remote control and spot lock. If I bought a pedal boat it would be a second boat. I can’t get rid of my shoalie because it is the boat my son and I ride in when we kayak as a family and the pedal boats don’t have the nice big open cockpit he likes to play around in. I love the stability of the old town.

Dont understand why you're comparing the motorized old town when the exact boat comes in pedal or padle to a pedal and then to paddle.
    Compare motor to eachother
    Pedal to eachother
    Paddle to eachother
The old town paddle is basically same price as the paddle ones
The old tow pedal is basically same price as pedal other
So is old town worst if its not autopilot?
Is the old tow n paddle better than all the others?
Is the pedal old town best?
    Yikes

@lehung4527 it's down to the Old Town AP120/136 and Nucanoe Unlimited. Advantage of Old Town is that it's prewired and ready out of the package. The cons are the cupholders don't have drainage, most folks replace the gear tracks with aluminum ones and it's very heavy. The Unlimited has tons of tracks, is an open platform, and your option to bow or stern mount a motor, plus it's lighter than the Old Town. I'm more leaning towards the Unlimited or U10. I'm a track junkie and like the open deck, plus the versatility of modifying it over the Old Town

I have one and know people that traded the other models for one and say the same! Being bare is great. You start out with 1700 and build it the way you like. Easy to remove and add back. If you can stand in a kayak, without an assist strap, thats not a 4 or 5 out of 10 stability....

You can stand on a lot of things, does mean you feel comfortable, safe, or able to move around. I wouldn’t fish it standing up, that makes it a lower stability score.

IMO, you should be lifting them alone to see what the average person goes through on a daily basis. Most people don't have another person to help them carry.

We had what we had. We did not have kayak carts for these

@@aaanglers I didn't ask you to use a cart. I asked for you to try moving them alone not with another person that would trully show how heavy and bulky they are or not.

@@dfwvtxmannobody is moving these without a cart. Rvr maybe, but none of these other ones. You would damage them

I feel like a kayak should be able to be loaded alone

It should be, and can easily be done with wheels. We weren’t about to drag these new kayaks we didn’t own. You wouldn’t carry any of these alone without wheels
