Does this solve the camshaft wear issue on lot of 790/890 s? I'm planning to get a duke 890r but many reports of camshaft wear online is holding me back. Any chance you could confirm this yourself or with your buddies? Thanks alot for the great video.
@@Fifa-ji4yt so I’ve heard of this as well but personally haven’t experienced it. 700 miles when I bought the bike and I’ve only tracked and raced it since, so although hard miles, not a lot of miles have gone on. So honestly I’m not sure if this is a fix per se, I wasn’t having any issues just wanted more power, and the stick cams looked fine. Haven’t heard of any of the other 890s in the hooligan paddock having issues, either. Hope that helps?! Cheers
Yea mate , remember KTM are still trying to pretend it’s not a problem , so if do you buy one and get that problem with those cheap & nasty cam lobes where they’re just pressed on to a shaft , it probably won’t be covered under warranty , KTM will just ignore your calls , ignore your emails & never return your calls basically a scam company
@@queenslander954 interesting. Definitely heard of this but luckily haven’t experienced this issue nor had to deal with warranty items. Don’t like the reputation surrounding KTM in this regard since I’ve loved this bike to this point. Hopefully this stuff is resolved in newer models and the 990, etc.
Depends on why the bike is eating camshafts, it could be poor hardness on the stock cams or oil starvation, or both. KTM has yet to say why and in the Failed Camshafts Facebook group, it is all speculation /opinions. I had to replace the camshafts on my 2020 790 Duke.
Thanks for making this video! (I am sure others have mentioned lighting) - Still a good video, and appreciate you making it - Thanks
@@charlesemge3824 thanks! Yeah lighting was tricky doing work at night and day, lessons learned!
Shame they discontinued this bike, love the look without the headlight. I feel the 990 duke was a massive fail!
@@theinnerdreamer7043 yeah it is a shame but hopefully the 990 continues to develop and fills the shoes!

Any tuning involved for the new intake cam?
Yes! So the original tune I had on the bike accounted for this cam, I just hadn’t installed it in time for my first race.
Dank
You bought another race bike. What about the house rule 😢😂🎉
@@alanrodriguez7341 haha one out one in, I’m good!
