Well, this chapter mainly tells about how earthly desires (执念 - zhí niàn) can disastrously affect on your life and the people around you. Jinchi Monk (the boss you fought after ringing the bells in chapter 1) was a friend of the black bear demon. He obsessed Tang Sanzang's kasaya for it's beauty which is embedded gold and diamond, and wanted to steal it. So Jinchi started a fire to kill Tang Sanzang but ultimately backfired and died since WuKong (The one who saw the fire from the tree) saw the murderous intents from him. The fire took place in GuanYin Temple, that's also why this chapter is called Black Cloud and Red Fire. Even after Jinchi's death and becoming a ghost, he still wants that kasaya.
it's Guangmo and Guangzhi who started the fire, Elder Jinchi committed suicide afterward bc he felt ashamed of what he did. That's why he turned into that wandering wight

About the protagonist in the game the certain copy/clone of Wukong, he may not be Wukong himself but a part of him which is destined to unite himself back together, getting the relics and bringing back the monkey king. About how monkey king got defeated at the Start of the game, it was because of a certain crown that he used to wear in the journey to the west that cast a spell that shrinks the crown, giving wukong a painful headache, this spell was used specifically when he disobeyed Tripitaka, and was more used as a punishment, which in the rest of the journey to the west, was he's weakness, but when the journey to the west was finally completed, wukong was free from the painful crown and given the opportunity to Buddhism, but it seemed that he refused it, because he wants anyways live in his mountain with the other monkeys of flower fruit mountain, but the heavens got angry and attacked and thats why he got pissed and attacked at the start to one of the gods. Correct me if I'm wrong, this scene may also be when Wukong got pissed because he wasn't invited to the festival or when the heavens got mad and decided to attempt to kill Wukong, but please Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
The ending anime is a story summary of chapter 1. Elder Jinchi (Gold big head) be friend with the black bear guai and they thrive a temple, then they tried to stole the Kasaya from Wukong's master but didnt go well, ended up buring the temple, Elder Jinchi was so sad black Bear didnt help him put out the fire even after he's dead. The "Great Sage" is Wukong, he's like OG among all the Yaoguai (monster). because everyone knows Wukong is "dead", so all the Yaoguai came out again, They see you character look alike Wukong but not as much overwhelmingly powerful, so black bear call your character "young Sage"
you need to watch the original novel to understand the story because this game happens after the journey to the west, the journey is over. The protagonist wants to find all senses of the dead monkey king to revive him, all characters you are meeting in this game are those who once appeared in the novel. And the story about them is basically an extending of that from the novels.
Fun fact,The Tutorial boss isn’t actually the Villain,The “Guide/Elder monkey” is actually a servant of the celestial court because in the bad ending He puts the Gold head band on and repeats the cycle and that is where you don’t get Wukongs memory’s the Celestial court is a Evil Force if you didn’t know that kills wukongs Generation.
Floverse some bosses have elements weakness like the guy who turned into a half snake because he using water attacks he took alot of dmg when you transformed into using fire staff
The bear introduced Jinchi to greed while he was a child. He later became a monk, and was no longer permitted to own anything except for clothes. So he came to desire kasayas, which are basically monk clothes, Sun Wukong went to the temple on his journey to the west, and during his visit, his master showed Jinchi a kasaya and he came to want badly. So badly that he sent Guangzhi and Guangmuo to burn Wukong and his master. It failed horribly.
The story is told by each enemy you kill. each enemy has a different tale. Go to the menu and see the enemies, they all have their specific story and the final scenes of each chapter are based on some of them.
One tip i could give you is to really explore everything and even use like the ign guide/ ingame journal to see all the bosses you are gonna miss cuz a lot of bosses are secrets or easy to miss and you can easily miss a lot of content then
The big headed boss WAS the young monk then grew old in the cutscene cartoon, his name was Jin Chi, meaning Golden Pond. As a monk, he should have had given up his desires for earthly riches, but he was obsessed with high grade Kasaya, partly because high grade Kasaya represents high status among monks. And Jin Chi was also friendly with the black bear since he was a little boy. The black bear had practiced for hundreds of years so he could appear in a human form. When the black bear appeared in human form, he’s called Black Wind. This is why the strong guy boss later changed into a black bear. The strong guy was his human appearance, the black bear was his true original body. So, the story in the Journey to the West went as following: When Tang San Zang (Wo Kong’s master) took a rest in Guan Yin Temple, Jin Chi, who was Jin Chi, who was in charge of the temple then, asked San Zang to show him the Kasaya gifted by the emperor. That Kasaya was covered by gold thread embroidery and Jewel. Jin Chi wanted to keep it for himself, so he ordered the monks in the temple to set fire in the sections where Tang San Zang was resting, so San Zang could be killed. Sun Wo Kong saw the monks acted strangely and discovered their ill intent. Wukong used his magical ability to protect Tang San Zang from harm, but the fire burnt down the rest of the temple and killed all the monks. So, that’s why there were all these zombies healing Jin Chi in the boss fight. But actually, Black Bear took the Kasaya before the fire. So Sun Wo Kong had to defeat him to retrieve the Kasaya. Right after Wo Kong beat down the Black Bear, Guan Yin showed up and took the Black Bear as a servant to guard her bamboo forest. Guan Yin tamed the bear by putting a restraining band on the bear’s head. Other characters who had restraining bands on their heads were Sun Wo Kong and Hong Hai Er aka the Red Child. Their bands were actually a set of three. Those were some of the main points of the back story for you to better understand what’s going on in the game. The actual lore was much more complex, it’s better if you find it interesting, to read the original text of the Journey to the West, or watch the 1986 TV show.
Hey floverse so at the start of the game before wukong died your probely wondering what was on wukongs head well that crown is what heven uses to control wukong
Long story short, that crown does nerf Wukong, it remove his power. The celestial court put it on him because they didn't trust him. Then they told him they removed it but lied. They made it invisible. Which was the second time the court deceived him and why he hates them. Erlang is actually Wukong's friend and killing him and scattering the relics allows Wukong to be reincarnated without the crown. However, the adverse reaction is that Wukong has no longer any memories of the past. This is the main character. You're collecting relics to unlock the memories.
The bear that we have seen in the video paying for mercy was a monk, who set on fire the temple with two important characters to the journey to the west, Tripitaka (the monk with red and yellow, and Protagonist of the journey to the west) and Sun Wukong (the monkey king, and Tripitaka's partner aka assistant to the journey) basically this scene is from the book journey to the west which the monk (the bear) tries to kill Tripitaka and Wukong to I think stealing them something, setting up the temple on fire, but failed as Wukong got Tripitaka out of the Fire (and also because Wukong is immortal) , causing more chaos to the temple, and giving a hard slap of karma to the monk who tried to sabotage them.
Ok so IN THIS GAME the Wukong in the beginning is immortal. The celestial courts which are basically gods didn’t like the fact he was reckless so they basically tricked him in the past and forced him to wear the headband you saw appear when he got a migraine. It strips him of his powers and that’s why he was sealed in the rock. I’m assuming we play a clone because he can’t talk from what we’ve seen. Once the clone collects all 6 relics the real wukong should be released. That’s what you just collected from the bear. One of his relics. The celestial court took over the black wind king in order to protect the relic from any other descendant/ clone getting it because they don’t want wukong released. I also believe this is after journey to the west. He already had the headband in the beginning, I believe it showed up because he was getting out of hand and not coming in easily. He also says they want him to serve the celestial court again which means he’s done it before in the journey to the west.
Spoiler alert The monke keep sending their youngsters to collect all the relic for hundreds of years... if any of the chosen manage to collect all means he was the incarnation of Wukong... In endings, the chosen one awake Wukong memories and inheriting it.
If you like this, you should try Flintlock: Seige at Dawn. It's kind of a soulslike, but with guns and magic. On the highest difficulty it's pretty brutal.
Bro equip your pre order gourd. Only 20 mins in so not sure if you do or not but it gives you a full heal on the first heal. Also your pre order staff is better too.
Seems like that monk in the cutscene who grows older is the same gold version of the big headed boss and both mention about the kasaeya which I think is supposed to be the golden cloth that the old monk got enveloped in which I think is supposed to signify that his lust for greed led to the temple's downfall and maybe his greed stemmed from when the black bear gave him gold when he was a child and the bear then decided to take the kasaeya away from the monk due to the monk's greed? Again this is my loose interpretation from the cutscenes and boss dialogues
Let me explain the anime: I wasn’t a pro, but remembering by watching 1986 show. Jinchi was a lust greedy monk, he stole the holy kasaya that wukong and master tried to protect. The fire was set by the wukong,( as you can see from the anime). The bear was there to test jinchi and the question he throw to guanyin at the end make me question my life😢
The story is supposedly set after the original story events in Journey to the West. That's why Erlang Shen (the prologue boss, and another rulebreaker like Wukong in JttW) stated that he "doesn't make a habit of fighting those I've bested before." This is referring to a battle between the two of them that lasted for 300 rounds in the past. They fought pretty much evenly, until in the 300th round the Jade Emperor and Erlang's celestial hound attacked Wukong from behind, and he was captured. Their interactions make more sense when you know that they have met many times and fought in the past.
That gut is elder jinchi the golden boss he was obsessed with kasaya the clothe of back then and he wanted the kasaya of the sage that traveled with wukong and tried to burn him but wukong used his power to spread it elsewhere all around the temple and the black bear was friend with jinchi but didn’t help him out out the fire that why he was saying pls stop the fire he was talking to the black bear who stole his kasaya instead of helping bout out the fire
Well, this chapter mainly tells about how earthly desires (执念 - zhí niàn) can disastrously affect on your life and the people around you.
Hey floverse so at the start of the game before wukong died your probely wondering what was on wukongs head well that crown is what heven uses to control wukong
this game is very fun to watch, I'm not kind of people who enjoy watching others playing, but this time it was really fun
love the hour long versions of these
Just i have to tell you, if you breathe this game will face you with a boss fight, it has 88 bosses
im pretty sure that weird crown thing wukong had in the intro is buddha somewhat nerfing him because he was gonna beat the sh outta erlang
1:02:37 bro got into berserk
Its kinda surreal that its actually here. Like you said, it was just years and years of a trailer or two and its everything it showed and more
Yaoguai means monster
When you fight Elder Jinchi, if you whack those zombie disciples, you get some HP back
Love your vids congrats on 100k
Spoiler alert
The monke keep sending their youngsters to collect all the relic for hundreds of years... if any of the chosen manage to collect all means he was the incarnation of Wukong...
Also your pre order staff is better too.
the great sage is wukong. u gotta watch a short lore video so u wont be so confused all the time lmao
YOOOOOOOO IM NEVER TOUCHING GRASSSSSS AGAIN
Seems like that monk in the cutscene who grows older is the same gold version of the big headed boss and both mention about the kasaeya which I think is supposed to be the golden cloth that the old monk got enveloped in which I think is supposed to signify that his lust for greed led to the temple's downfall and maybe his greed stemmed from when the black bear gave him gold when he was a child and the bear then decided to take the kasaeya away from the monk due to the monk's greed? Again this is my loose interpretation from the cutscenes and boss dialogues
I really enjoyed your commentary more than watching the game 😂😂😂👏👏👏👍
Never knew this game till it got release and seen it having a countdown on the PlayStation and ive beat it twice now🤣🤣
Let me explain the anime:
I wasn’t a pro, but remembering by watching 1986 show. Jinchi was a lust greedy monk, he stole the holy kasaya that wukong and master tried to protect. The fire was set by the wukong,( as you can see from the anime). The bear was there to test jinchi and the question he throw to guanyin at the end make me question my life😢
I cant wait for the amount of weaves this is going to take to beat
The end of the show the guy that loves the bear is merging with it
The wandering weight is the hardest boss in the first map
The story is supposedly set after the original story events in Journey to the West. That's why Erlang Shen (the prologue boss, and another rulebreaker like Wukong in JttW) stated that he "doesn't make a habit of fighting those I've bested before." This is referring to a battle between the two of them that lasted for 300 rounds in the past. They fought pretty much evenly, until in the 300th round the Jade Emperor and Erlang's celestial hound attacked Wukong from behind, and he was captured. Their interactions make more sense when you know that they have met many times and fought in the past.
Lord Floverse rules again 😀TY Sir 😀
A big baby thanos
When you were visiting the Ancient Guanyin temple, you pronounced "GuanYin" almost perfectly lol.
Great video!
I am getting spider man 2 is finally here and I'm never going outside. vibes and I love it. feels like going back in time.
Good luck I saw a giant spider or something in the background
48:51 why does he look like heavy from TF2 with a beard and thick eyebrows, he even has the gauntlet things and the ammo thingy
SCREAMING AT MY PC that you can use the disciples in the Elder Jinchi fight to heal yourself lmaoo
Hey man so there is an option in the settings called controller type B which will make the inputs 1:1 with souls-like
That gut is elder jinchi the golden boss he was obsessed with kasaya the clothe of back then and he wanted the kasaya of the sage that traveled with wukong and tried to burn him but wukong used his power to spread it elsewhere all around the temple and the black bear was friend with jinchi but didn’t help him out out the fire that why he was saying pls stop the fire he was talking to the black bear who stole his kasaya instead of helping bout out the fire
ABSOLUTE CINEMMAAA 👏
1:04:23 I kind of saw the wandering wight in the smoke
