My mom is from Congo town! I can’t wait for the day I return to the place I was born. It’s been too long. 23 years to be exact.

Town looks nice from above. From what I understand the 'Congo' people were recaptives from other parts of West/Central Africa who were re-settled in Liberia alongside the people from the Americas, hence the name Congo. Seems the names have become interchangeable over time. Great video.

Look at all those cars driving in the wrong way. They’re just moving into incoming traffic. Liberia has to do a better job of posting traffic signs traffic lights. These people do not know how to drive. That’s a major accident waiting to happen. With that being said, thank you so much for bringing this video to us. Are used to live in Congo town back home.

Congo are Indigenous Liberians who were recaptured on the coast, indigenous Liberians who were adopted by the Black repatriates, Africans who were born in Africa but sold into slavery and sent back to the Liberia a place of refuge for those who lost their lively hood in the slave trade. Free Blacks from the America’s along with those who were formally enslaved . You can be a Congo or Country person depending on your education, whether you dressed the part or simply where you were at. You could have owned farms in the country side and spoke the ,coal languages but actually grew up in a traditional Coastal city and vice versa, you could have been born in the Country but was sent to school in Monrovia and went abroad for education then came back to work with the elites but your entire family is from the countryside.
