Rather than not having the fastest car, it’s more the fact that he can manage to maximise on the tiny operating window that tractor of a car he has. Even in the operating window, the car can be unpredictable. For him to piece together a lap without the RB21 going ‘guess what I’m gonna do next’ probably leaves him feeling so elated

I don't think he will win title this year. In a way it will add cherry on the cake effect for his legacy,by winning the championship in 2nd best car since round 6 in 2024 and fighting for a championship with a non championship worthy car in 2025.Similar to that of Alonso.

@timurgabdsattarov1613 No, it means the car will push the tires harder in the corners and that is more tires deg, not less. 2022-2023 Redbull could afford to run higher downforce wings spec so the tires would last longer.

The car is fast, the fastest in terms of sheer speed. Great work by the engineers overnight and obviously they have been able to lose some downforce (= faster like the Indycars which have as little downforce as possible to make them very fast but a bit slippy) yet make the car still able to corner. Not sure what they changed from yesterday when even Max said it was undriveable (no grip at all) to the speed machine of today where even Yuki managed a fast time in FP3....

Its what it takes to be a great driver. Schumacher did the same with the 90's Ferrari's. To be considered a great you have to be able to do that.

His car is trimmed way back on wing and yet he beat Piastri in sector 2 through the esses....even the Sky team is like "we don't know how he's doing this".
It's like he sees the track in a different way that nobody else can
It's because Red Bull still has the most efficient diffuser on the grid. The diffuser is the closest you can get to down force with no drag penalty (though there is still very much a penalty). That's how he can still have high min cornering speed and high trap speed on the straights. Silverstone, like Suzuka, is a very flat circuit where the car can be run low to maximize the effect of that diffuser--hence why they are so fast here.

Onboard camera Max vs Antonelli is crazy. Kimi looks like he's driving the car all out 100%, Max has such gentle and soft inputs like he's barely pushing the car, but he ends up being faster anyways. That's very interesting to me, it "looks" like Kimi is going faster but he's not.

senna conditioned several generations into believing that rough is fast, however the numbers did not lie. modern f1 was created first by lauda, then by prost, both smooth and calculated drivers
if the car is as front-grip heavy as everyone says, then thats probably why, the turn in is sensitive and extremely responsive, but only if youre smooth and contained with it

@xdland3769 I believe it references back to the Hamilton/Max championship fight in Abudabi in which Michael Massi told Mercedes team principal Toto Wold "it's motorracing, Toto" to his complaints about letting the backmarker cars unlap themselves to allow the top runners to get closer during the safety car which allowed Max to fight Hamilton and eventually overtake him to secure the Driver's Championship.
