    I love how well paced the levels in the Wii/Ps2 version are. Seriously, breaking the Werehog levels in 3 bite sized challenges was an ingenious idea that allows the player to stop and come back whenever they want, knowing how much ground they need to cover. The levels themselves feel well paced, as in you have a good feel of when a level starts, how much you've progressed and when it'll end and it does so both with level design and its challenges.
    Take the Ice Temple level, for example. You begin at the very entrance, make through the platforming challenges in the many different chambers and halls, arrive at a single room with the keys challenge and then reach a final showdown against a horde of enemies and two giants. Might not feel like too much, but there's something of a progression of how you advance through the temple's dangers and reach its core; a self-contained story, let's say.
    Not to mention the story told in the three different levels, overall: you start at a Holoskan village, walk over the snowy setting, reach an area with icebergs and water, as well as cold, cold crevasses and arrive at the temple. You're actively seeking the temple and it's not just in Holoska, but ALL the other levels in the games have something similar!
    Sonic Unwiished might not be the greatest show of ludonarrative resonance, but hell; the levels are.

    A lot more environmental variety in the Night levels in this version, and this one is a good example. I mean, a freaking ice temple? Didn't see that in the HD version.

    In fact ALL of the night stages in the PS2/Wii version are prettier and more fun to play.

    • @jordancromwell
      @jordancromwell 5 лет назад +13

      No its not the hd version has better design and you only had to play one level. All of the night levels besides will only take you 3 to 10 minutes if you skip all the exploration for medals. The hd version has combos while this version dosent so it gets stale real quickly and the werehog controls are slippery as fuck. Each of the night levels are 5 min, and since your playing 3 acts thats 15 min of the werehog which is longer than the hd version. This version is inferior to the hd version.

      @@jordancromwell Objection. The fact you play multiple night and day stages in a Sonic game? Huh, it's almost like they're ACTS or something...... Seriously though, the HD version is tough to get the S Ranks on. And you don't even get anything for it either.

      AxlPaxl Because the wii was less powerful than it’s counterparts at the time, so graphics and level length for day time stages took huge nerf.

    18:15 Is this nerf? That I remember there were other enemies out there, which even they could break things, causing you to lose
    I say it because it is the only level that I could not pass in the whole game, if it was not for the enemies that broke something was for the time that I could not reach
    I was about 10-12 years old, I think when I play it
