Wow this has been beyond enjoyable.. 3 hours in on these fishin' trips, always been hooked but more so now. Nothing like a knowledgeable Captain or two. Had no idea Cobia hung around Manta's... Very good to see we have evolved into fishing responsibly.. Anyone out there doing this is living the dream. Great content and thanks.
Wow, thanks Blair, Suburb filming and content guys! Good narration, good branding! Good message to the community. Fish on deck! Enjoinment and excitement are clearly depicted, kudos to the editorial guy! Fish on! Post up more for 2015!
Captain Scott bangin his head into the tower........CLUYNK........explains a lot.......lol.........J/K....Scott's a great guy.....and knows his fishing
Blair I know this is a old video I really enjoy watching your videos on fishing and saltwater yeah I used to work at Cocoa High School when I lived in Titusville
Did exactly what you told me to do.Fished behind coco high school. The doa shrimp just did great, killed em all day. Used jerk baits and mirrordines. But the doa shrimp was outstanding.I have never caught more trout in my life with that doa shrimp.Had to go back to PA, but will be back. Thanks capt Blair.GO DOA SHRIMP.
Now that made me laugh when he did a ricochet with his head on your fish standing platform. That was hilarious. But good show and awesome fish and fight as well.
I have 2 flats blue rods and at first I was sketchy at first because of how light they were. I was fully confident in them after the first full day. Arms weren't tired after casting for 8 hrs. Caught 20 plus inch trout all day and reds ranging from 20 to 41 inches and had no issues with the inshore flats blue rods. Had them for over 2 yrs now. Still no issues
I have fond memories of this place. My Dad worked for what used to be called NASA. He is gone now but we ate Cobia together & it was so fun of a day. One of those ones you know while it is happening. Man those things fight to the end. It is (I feel) better than Tripletail almost.
i have 2 flats blue rods out of the 50+ i own.they r my favorites.also have 4 sabalos reels.best reels i own so far.havent had my 2 stradics a year and had to replace all the bearings.and i take care of my reels.had the sabalos 4 years.havent replaced one bearing yet.great stuff.enjoy ur show and videos.
Chris Scovitch you have to be kidding right!? Large mouth taste like mud unless you get them small and in ice cold water! Rainbows are decent, but oily and fishy. They are whimsical broiled whole with lemon and herbs, but not that good. Snook, and reds are good when done properly (like all fish). Cobia, flounder, yellow tail and mangrove snapper, snook, sheepshead, freshwater panfish (crappie, sunfish), tripletail, small walleyes, and perch are all all top notch. Keep your cod and bass, more for you:)
hi Blair nice job i caught a 20lb brown terd and i love fishing problably as much as you. what was your absolutle largest fish you have ever caught. i look up to you . post more videos i watch them all the time.and is cobia really good never tried it
The top view of the cobia @.20 seconds always fools me thinking it's a shark. That fish has a very similar shape to a nurse shark or some rounded snout shark of some kind. Last one I caught in Islamorada in December was swimming around the outboard, thought it was a young shark, tossed a shrimp on the hook and bang, barely landed in the water and it nailed it. Good looing fish but very delicate. Gotta get them back in the water quick if you're not keeping them and don't make them bleed to much they die quick, unfortunately. At least that's the experience I had.
Cobia is the best fish to eat.My friend dad cooked some and he had them sliced into medallions. They were lightly breaded in a lemon pepper fish fry batter,oh they were tasty! He gave me the sharks to eat,but he kept the cobia,lol...I live on the gulf coast in Ms!
Mike Davis Ive eaten several type of shark, but don't really care for them, I have never had the opportunity to eat Cobia but would like to try some, but its not common in the supermarket, out of Mahi Mahi, red snapper, cod, marlin etc Orange Roughy is my favorite tasting fish.
John doe Cobia is good fried, real good!Fisherman hardly ever bring that fish in makets! You have to go to the Gulf!I live on the Gulf Coast in Ms and we go salt and brackish water fishing!I like all fish, crabs, shrimp, scallops, oysters, etc!I can catch fish everyday if I want too!
Mike Davis I was just curious, as I saw a fishing video where guys on jet skis hooked a 60 or 70 pound Cobia then took the hook out and released it, I thought if Cobia are good to eat why didn't they keep it?
John doe Most guys just fish for the fun of it!Some like to catch and release!I guarantee you put some fried cobia and red fish in front of a alot of folks, that cobia gonna be gone first, lol! And redfish is the next good tasting fish!Ground mullet, mango snapper, flounder, trout, shark, sheephead all are tasty!I never had grouper, mahi mahi!
Hey Captain Blair I found some videos that you have posted which are in the Boca Grande area which is close to where I fish. Have you ever fished in Lemon Bay?
Time of year to target different species, knowing to check a crab pot for tripletail. I always have a DOA shrimp rigged. You never know what might swim by in saltwater.
Sight casting Cobia! cant ask for much more then that! It's a shame you guys dont release more fish though! I've been fishing for years now and believe the only thing better then fighting a fish is then releasing it. Tagging the little guy was cool, should do that more often...
I caught a 4ft,11inch 75lb cobia in 5 foot of water. It was a spotty bottom grass flat area in the Gulf of Mexico. She ate a white grunt that I put on my heavy duty rod. I waited about an hour and then she took the bait and smoked half my spool. I thought it was a shark at first so I wasn't as careful as I was when I saw that big ol brown turd (with smaller cobia around her) fighting its way away from the boat, but she got tired and my dad gaffed her and we took her home and had cobia dinner for the rest of the month.
First time to your feed , an enjoyed the SHIT out of the fun You all have fishing and laughing what fun, I am from the upper part of Michigan on lake Superior Town of Munising and do a lot of fishing I will look u all up for a trip in my travels, best regard's YOOPER from the great white NORTH. YEA
For decades the reel of choice was a Penn 706z and a 8' heavy action fast tip pole for tossing heavy jigs and setting hooks better. So that gives you a pretty good idea of what you want. Mine is a 8' St Croix Avid series Heavy/Fast for Cobia and For King Mackerel 10' MH/M rod to toss baits a mile to reach the Kings from a distance.
I fish out in virginia beach, we catch cobia out there all the time but i can't seem to catch one. people there use menhaden and blue fish, what bait do you suggest i use?
Glad to have you with us, Peter!

Is the 4000 Sablos reel strong enough for like...blackfintuna tuna,snook,permit...?????

What power rod and what size reel would you recommend for big Cobia
For decades the reel of choice was a Penn 706z and a 8' heavy action fast tip pole for tossing heavy jigs and setting hooks better. So that gives you a pretty good idea of what you want. Mine is a 8' St Croix Avid series Heavy/Fast for Cobia and For King Mackerel 10' MH/M rod to toss baits a mile to reach the Kings from a distance.
