Still here in 2024, in rememberance of this great man Joseph Hill, with his friends. For sure, I can say Culture is the best Roots Trio after the Wailers period. This song is from the famous album "Two Sevens Clash" (in reference of 1977, when Jamaican government declared the state of emergency due to criminality). It is forever one of the Best/seller in reggae music history. Recorded at Joe Gibbs Studio, also the Best hit-maker from this period 1977. True music with true words.
One of the best things i've seen on youtube inna long time. I've remember first hearing Culture when i was like 3 or 4 years old, my father used to listen to alot of roots and ska. From then i knew, i will listen to this for my entire life.
i want to rectification on my previous comments three week ago about the documentery. In fact it call The Black Way, realise by the french journalist at Le Monde newpaper Claude Fléouter. The french version is La Memoire du peuple noir. This tv documentery of 52 minutes, has been recorded on an LP series Escargot No 398 and distributed by CBS in 1979. I dont know if a cd version exist. Do note that a book also has been written by the same author.
One of the best reggae songs ever in my opinion. It would be great to get a copy of the original video and any extra footage they might have of this recording.
Absolutly magnificent Joseph Hill and his trio Culture. This is authenthic reggea. i was searching this song since many years in the earlier seventies just after looking the documentery The Blacy Wat by the french journalist Claude Fleiuter. And now it is a surprise for me to get it on You tude. After more than 35 years Joseph Hill still ten number one of root reggea artiste. Unfortunalty he die on august 2006
These are the original people who made reggae what it is, it was a beautiful time, today all we can do is copy their style, because they are now old, or have died, mystery of life
I love how the Rasta man is beating the Kette Drum...is the other day I was telling my Voice And Movement teacher about the Kette drum. This is REAL music!!!
@@mlodzin90 Very cool. This version in particular has a much more outstanding musicality than the studio version... It's a lot of energy, a lot of vibration that sounds like a mantra.
este video a sido para mi unos de los mas motibado..gran recorrido de los exitos del reggae me alegra que todabia se eschuchen estas canciones hoy en dia...
awesome - watch the body movement and the drummer ,- do you know his name. Since 1977 I visited Portland with my brother-in-law we went to Kingston for a feed day - I went straight to the record shop and they were playing Two Seven Clash. I was on my way to glory. I love any thing they put together. How can I leave May, Where the tree falls, Reasoning many others. About a month ago after the new USA Administration feeling so spiritual I went and had 15 special songs recorded those I mentioned and Natty Dread Taking Over. Listen to another ELECTION ! ! ! Joseph Hill never to be 4/Gotten 😃😎
