Great comparison. Note that the Lyric has a fairly well hidden treble control which might help smooth out the transition to upper mids. But I agree it’s a little tricky to EQ, but I like it.
I have a Lyric in one of my guitars and in a quiet area the sound is superb. BUT, on stage it it very prone to feedback, even with a sound hole cover. Therefore it becomes almost unusable in the live gigs where I normally perform. That's too bad because I think it's the best sounding of the various pickups I use.
Of course the studio mic sounds the best when you find the best place to put it.- but then do not move in any direction - difficult to do when playing at a gig. So best compromise is a Lyric type combined with magnetic sound hole the DiMarzio black is a nice choice, however this will mean two leads into a DI. LIKE ALL THINGS LIFE IS JUST A COMPROMISE.
Really excellent demo and explanations. Thank you for investing so much time and thought into the topic. I have a piezo pickup and active preamp on board my guitar, and I'm interested in installing a second pickup and running a stereo cable to blend the two. Do you think the Lyric or the M1 would pair better with a piezo? I'm thinking the lyric but would love your input. Thanks!
Together, processed is not bad. . M1 does not sound nice at all by itself. Lyric sounds quite thin/scooped. Together a "perfect" pairing - $$$. I think I'll stick with my current dual source system... Either way, it was a good demo, but not for me.
They all sound like noise to me. I have not heard one note in this video that actually sounds like it came from an acoustic guitar. I'll sick with my mic's, combiner, EQ, pre amp, amp and cabinet. If you want an electric guitar buy a Fender. If you want to sound like a loud acoustic learn how to do it correctly.
One of the best reviews I've seen Thank You!

excellent review-thank you!
LR Baggs, please build a system that blends these two like the Anthem blends!
The lyric accepts and entry for the m1
Excellent review. criticism about the studio mic being better is missing the point.

We still have a long way to go.
With all the tech available you would think maybe a modeling Mic hybrid system would be here.

Well done. Thank you
Thanks for this. Do you know if the microphone used on the Anthem combo unit the same one as the Lyric?

What is the mic by the way?
The mic wins by a country mile
Damn the lyric sounds like you are palm muting. I think I would take the mic

What mics do you use for live performance?
Yes! What mics do you use tell us more instead of bashing this setup
"I'll sick with my mic's, combiner, EQ, pre amp, amp and cabinet." LOL and you think all that lot will still sound like an acoustic?
@@TheEasybeat He use no mics, that´s what he is talling here.
@@paulrenevos He plays only acoustic. No mic.
