They was reading Oswald mail because they was making sure he was going to be the man for the job. And watching him to make sure he wasn't connected with any other organization before he did the job! Oswald was not supposed to get caught that's why he killed that cop. And after Oswald got caught the reason why they killed him is because if he went to trial he would have eventually ratted on who the other shooter was.
Oswald wasn't the only person whose mail was read. There was program on reading mail in major cities. The agencies were, and are, definitely protecting the mail reading operations. But, I disagree that any government agency was running an operation with Oswald as an operative. He was paid as a low level informant, but he was not an operative. My theory is there were former intelligence/government/military officers, or then current operatives, engaged in private enterprise and who were familiar with how the intelligence community operated and ran Oswald as a patsy letting him think he was an operative. The shenanigans in Louisiana, Mexico City and Dallas were, in part, to see how closely the intelligence community was paying attention to Oswald. When the renegade group saw that Oswald was being taken for granted, with only CYA memos about him in agency files, unless he contacted someone, like in New Orleans asking for an FBI agent to visit him in jail after the leafletting farce, then the renegade group went ahead with setting him up, knowing all the intelligence agencies in the US, Russia and Cuba would have to cover up their real or supposed contacts with the Oswald identity, thereby insulating the renegade group's hand in the events leading up to and including the assassination.

The evidence of the John F.Kennedy assassination being withheld is totally wrong. @@Brian-zp1df Bunker Hunt paid for the Wanted for Treason flyer that was inserted into the Dallas Morning News newspapers the morning of the assassination too. Hunts might have put up part of the bounty but I look to others as the masterminds of the actual execution of the plot. People who have analyzed the Dealey Plaza photos of people on both Houston and Elm streets have listed many out of towners there who had axes to grind with JFK. Bunker Hunt's flyer actually took the focus off of others who actually carried out the plot IMHO. Definitely agree with you about at least 2 people visible in the windows of the 6th floor where Oswald supposedly was. They probably told Oswald to wait in the lunchroom where he was seen less than a minute after all the shooting.

The National Archives made a photograph of Oswald's brown arrest wallet and the 8 original items found in his wallet. The FBI provided the Warren Commission with a list of 8 items from Oswald's arrest wallet, known as CE 1989.
The Alek(x) James Hidell card was not in Oswald's arrest wallet at 10:00 PM on November 22, 1963.
The Alek James Hidell ID card came from the 2nd Oswald wallet found at 10th & Patton, which was last seen in the possession of Capt. Westbrook. Eight hours later this card was "discovered" in Oswald's brown arrest wallet by Agent Clements at 10:00 PM and given to Dallas police Capt. Fritz who asked Oswald who Alek Hidell was and he said he didn't know.
The framers knew Oswald had a Minnilcher Carcano rifle, but it was 36″ long, not the 40″ one they planted.

I unlike most conspiracy believers, dont find this the least bit intriguing. Oswald had defected to Russia straight from the military during the height of the cold war, then returns with a russian wife to live in Dallas. The CIA knew he'd also gone to Mexico city trying to defect to Cuba. If I were CIA, I'd be VERY interested in what he was up to. Yes as it turns out, he was just a nut who hated America, but back then, all his actions wouldve been raising alarm bells in all intelligence agencies if they were any good. People think there's only one inference that can be drawn from this. There's not.
Obviously yes, it was a counter intelligence operation, started for the reasons you suggest.. Which makes perfect sense..

If Oswald killed tippit, then why was his wallet found at the tippit murder sight and he also had his real wallet in person ? How did ruby know the split instant when Oswald was brought into police custody? I'm not talking about his transfer.
...After all that's come out the last sixty years, if you still believe Lee Oswald acted alone, there really is no hope for you. If you understand that they absolutely had to paint Oswald as the lone shooter, then everything and the whole botched cover-up makes sense. The plotters really were not happy. They got their man, but everything else was a mess and that's why we're still investigating to this day. It needs to be understood that if the rear shooters, who shot first, had got their kill shot, then we wouldn't be talking about this today. They messed up, missed and that caused the driver to have to slow down, apply the brakes almost to a stop (tail brake light caught on film) and allow the "final resort" shooters to make their shot. It was not so successful and people now know the horrible truth.

I remember this day so vividly. I was only 3 and I was watching cartoons when the news cut in and said JFK was shot. My mother grabbed me away from the tv set crying. Horrible day. I’ll never forget it..ever.

Oswald was an ex marine who went to The Soviet Union and offered to give them info on the new U2 spy aircraft program in which he worked as a radar operator. He threatened to defect (he never did) and spent nearly three years there. Came back to the US with a Russian wife and a child. So with all that, of course the govt. is going to open his mail, especially at that time during the Cold War.
So, I see nothing sinister in it other than the govt. has never acknowledged interviewing Oswald when he returned to the US. Now, THAT seems sinister.

How do we know that anything this guy is saying about Ruben Efron is true? It's being presented in this television report as a fact and that's absolutely irresponsible.
While that is true, I believe the name was extracted from the documents that were released most recently.
Google the document, it was top secret but now it’s public.
