Oh, he only has 4 special moves? What a fun, approachable, new player friendly, and straightforward chara-
I actually love that he only has very simple and limited commands. Feels like he demands very few physical prowess but a lot of mental, with you having to remember a lot of spell effects and when to use them. He feels exactly like a wizard should!
Technically he still is very simple, just need to remember A LOT.

If you look up "Knowledge Check" in the dictionary you won't find Asuka... cuz he wrote the Dictionary
If anyone is wondering about the name, the symbol is a doppelkreuz, so it's likely pronounced "Asuka R Doppelkreutz". The character is a doppelganger of Asuka R. Kreutz that is doing his bidding on Earth while the real Asuka continues podcasting on the Moon, it is said that he does this because actually doing it himself is too physically taxing for him.
I wonder if he eventually brings the cast to his podcast and asks them if they tried DMT.

@@hafirenggayuda would be kinda funny, but HC took about 3-4 months to even start experimenting with an optimal gameplay, and a year or more to finally get to the rush down zero fucks given horrors we have today. Not to mention Zato, Chipp, Baiken and many other block-pressure aficionados who are completely bonkers but people still don’t know about it.
Just be glad this character debuted in Strive. If he showed up in XX he'd have 3 unique airdashes, a wacky dust attack, a meter that replaces tension, 4 supers and 15 different normals along with the rest of his kit.

ArcSys really said we're tired of people saying this game got dumbed down from previous iterations, so here's the most complicated fighting game character ever
"We're going to take all the complexity and mechanical depth from the old characters and shove it into that man"
for real xD
Arc sys: bankai
The complexity: memorize 10 moves ((at a time)
Nine the Phantom says sup.
It's actually pretty simple when explained but definitely something that's going to be complex in execution. What a cool character.
The complexity comes from the sheer number of possible effects the spell can have, and juggling which ones you aim for with different situations and matchups. He essentially only has one real move, but that one move can do a billion different things depending on how you set it up.
@@JackgarPrime Well said. The people who master this character are going to be dangerous.
@@bobfttw very because the hand coordination you have to have. Watching him i bet he’s so much easier on a hit box controller than a regular controller or fightstick
@@bobfttw It's gonna be an extremely difficult matchup to learn for everyone. If this character is legal for EVO, we're gonna see someone do some serious damage in the brackets with him because nobody knows what to do.
Nah, looks very troublesome to keep track of your current spells, refill spells and pay attention to your mana
Can we just appreciate just how good the spell at 5:14 looks??? How do arcsys do it man
Dyson Prism!
Glad to see he was given the complexity he deserves. Honestly super excited to mess around with him and see what dumb stuff people can find
The Asuka Knows where he is at all times, he knows this because he knows where he isn't.
A character having a moveset so complex and obtuse it needs an entire extra page just for one spell is very fitting for That Man
The Spell knows where it IS, by knowing where it ISN'T. Once the Spell knows where it isn't, it can infer where it is after adding where it wasn't, to where it won't be.
He is definitely worthy of being a 1 star ease of use character he looks amazing and super fun to play as and use its just theres gonna be ALOT to remember and keep track of and with enough time and experimentation and losing some brain cells learning him he's gonna do serious some damage both competitively and online so really looking forward to the 25th
I feel like I just took a physics course watching this. Asuka looks absolutely insane and I love it.
This series is literally my childhood and it's unexplainable how good it feels seeing Asuka finally become playable. I don't care if I end up maining the guy or not, he deserves to be in this game. Super happy.
Same, bro
Agreed.
Same dude. I waited for so long to play Raven and now after 20 years finally Asuka is playable ♥ Im so happy ♥ Still remember playing the story mode on XX and seeing those cool characters that we never had the opportunity to use after decades
@@KainDizengarth Now I'm just crossing my fingers for Gabriel.
I just wish he stayed scary and didn't become a pretty boy.
Out of anything, i'm glad they made a really fun to play looking character. I think most of us were disappointed that the last character this season wasn't a legacy character, but they went crazy with Asuka's visuals and style in trying to give him final boss vibes.
1:11 it's a very small thing but I like that fact that his coat still blows behind him even when a spell fails to cast, it's as if he's still exerting some magical force it's just not quite coming together into a full spell.
I think it makes the magic seem much more realistic then if he just struck a pose, since it feels like there is more going on that we can't see
Asuka’s basically Magic: the Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh as an entire character LMAO

Thank goodness that arguably the most important character in the entire series, the one who set all events in Guilty Gear into motion, is complex as hell and an absolute wonder to behold.
This is what I wanted when I heard "That Man" was coming to Strive, an almost mythological character that works outside of the rules any of us even know. The mechanics behind this character puts Zato to shame. Bedman literally trembles in fear when reading the moveset alone, and there's an entire spell sheet too.
