I had always assumed they would be fairly consistent high scores. It would be reassuring to see that even the best players get some bad scores!
Don't become declarer when defending. There was a plan to hold up diamonds till the 3rd round. This was always going to be declarer's preferred suit, so lead small diamond at trick 2, not a side suit that will play into declarer's hand and kill your KC.

As for bidding, I would double as south, showing a balanced hand with 15-17. Then we'd find our spade fit.
EW are playing Strong NT. Double works here but not sure its the percentage call.

If partner had led a club instead of donked the KH the contract would have gone down.
