Spring loaded louvre pins would make assembly a little easier.
That would help! Adam made more of these and said he put a piece of blue painters tape, from end to end in the middle of the rails and parallel to the stiles, to help hold the louvers. He found great success and ease with this method.
What other wood can i use for the shutters? Where I live the stores (homedepot and lowes)does not carry basswood. Please advise.
Basswood is the most common. It is light, soft, and easy to work with. It takes paint nicely as well. You can order basswood on our website. If you use our Shutter Design Wizard, it will calculate how much basswood will be needed for your shutters. In the inventory list generated, it will give you item numbers to order exactly what basswood you will need to build them. However, if you don't go that route, Poplar may be a good alternative.

Super idea, I wonder how you keep the wood from warping due to the sun and heat?
Most home windows are made with UV protection. Between that, a good protective finish, and properly dried wood to start with, warping should be minimal, if at all.

where can i nd the list of measuring and drilling tools u used? I did not find all the tools on the website.
If you input your dimensions that you find by following our measuring guide - go.rockler.com/tech/44342measuringguide.pdf - into the design wizard - shutters.rockler.com/louver.cfc?method=start&louverType=m&louverSize=2 - the last pages will have an inventory list of all the jigs, and materials you will need to make the shutters. Note that the correct size drill bits are included with the jigs.

@@rockler If i want a wider louvers (like 4"), is there any way to get measurements for that?
Our jigs and design wizard are only made for 1-1/4", 2-1/2", or 3-1/2" louvers. Also, our control arms won't work if you make a different size louver. Sorry about that.
