I definitely wish I would have chosen the cedar park/leander area. I went for the house not considering the community and let’s just say they are not the friendly bunch of Texans nor like “outsiders”. We love celebration church because it does remind us of home(socal) so much diversity and welcoming faces. Praying for community for our family.

Thanks for sharing, You were one of the realtors I watched on RUclips to understand the market in Austin. I'm on my first year in Austin, and your channel really helped me understand where I wanted to buy my first home. I have been renting now for over a year, but decided it was best for me, from a financial standpoint, to buy a house. It took me a whole year to get a general feel of the area. I agree that there are so many uncertainties when moving and settling down, and I think you are correct; the three year mark is where you become a bit familiarized and more settled in. Best of best wishes to you and your family,

@@SoominKimRE Absolutely! I would had contacted you to be our realtor, but we sold our house in Colorado with a broker and we were in a contractual agreement that if we buy through them (Orchard) for a house in Austin, we will receive a commission rebate which is about $7,000.00
Thanks for your thorough knowledge. I ended up buying in Cedar Creek and the house will be completed in a few months after a March build start by the builder.

"Yes mama, Yes Sir" is more than a Texas thing, it's a Southern (Southeastern) thing... I'm glad you called it out. :) Also my wife and I have migrated from Irvine, CA in 2020... I'm originally from South Carolina, but lived in LA since 1997. My wife is from the Philippines and also lived in LA/OC since 1997. We're loving the Austin food scene... I think it's better than LA/OC. Try Odd Duck and Sotos....

I'm also originally from Orange County, California, not far from Huntington Beach! Definitely considering the suburbs of Austin or possibly San Antonio suburbs! I think I would love being near the Hill Country for the same reasons you give (e.g. lakes, hills, just nature in general). I'm Asian-American as well as a conservative evangelical Christian. I have a young family like you (oldest kid is 6 years old). However, I'm kind of worried about allergies since I can have bad allergies. And job-wise I need to see if there are good health care (MD) opportunities in the Austin suburbs. Thanks for making this video! I'm sure it'll help me figure things out better!

If I can help you in any way do let me know. I generally dealt with allergies my entire life from nasal, to skin etc. I too was concerned about "cedar fever" but it has not affected me at all. Grateful!
With regards to medical profession, it seems that along with tech, education, medicine / medical is a very in-demand field here in Austin.

You are moving from OC to central Texas for nature??? 😂😂 I moved here from Sacramento- NOTHING compares to California nature.. it gets overhyped because their is nature relative to other places in Texas
Give it some thought- if nature and those things are important to you, Texas is NOT the state to move to

    • @pattube
      @pattube 2 месяца назад +1

@@dy4710 I think Northern California nature is a lot more beautiful than Southern California nature. But the Hill Country looks more beautiful to me than Southern California nature except for the beaches which of course would be missed. Or do you think SoCal still beats the Hill Country in terms of nature? Honestly value your thoughts as I've never lived in Texas, only visited several times.

@@pattube Yes l, I’d agree that norther California is definitely more green than Southern California.
I’ve lived in San Diego for a few years in college and then moved to Los Angeles (Hollywood/north Hollywood) for a couple more- I still wouldn’t trade the outdoor activities Southern California has to offer for Hill country- while beautiful in its own right, very underwhelming if you’ve experienced anything in California
Hill country doesn’t even compare to random Northern California towns that no one talks or cares about- I think the hype is all relative to Texas.. the rest of Texas is very flat, brown, and quite frankly ugly
If you are coming for financial reasons it may be worth it in terms of affordability compared to California- but if nature, public land, and having beautiful places close enough to travel to you is important you may be disappointed..
San Antonio/hill country/Austin is almost like an island- nothing to visit or see around it
really just depends on your priorities- I’ve been here (Austin) for close to two years and deeply miss all the public land and natural beauty California has to offer- but definitely more affordable
I personally feel like this area gets a lot of hype because it’s nicer to what the rest of Texas has to offer- but if you placed it in California no one would even give it a second thought l
With that being said, different strokes for different folks. If nature, beautiful scenery, abundance of public land, drivable destinations, any sort of culture/ diversity is your thing - you may find it lacking

@@pattube, nothing in Texas compares to Southern California and all the nature options. It is cheaper here-that’s it. Many so called trails are loud with nearby traffic noise. The heat is ridiculous and so many spend all summer inside unless you can be done naturing by 8:30am.

I moved from San Jose, CA to Corpus Christi 4 yrs ago then to Austin last year. Agree with all your points!! People in general are way more nice, respectful, and love children.
Weather is certainly wayy more hot but cost of electricity to run AC all day is several times cheaper than PG&E in NorCal or LADWP when I lived in LA. Groceries and going out to eat is way cheaper than CA. I frequently do biz trips back to SF Bay Area and when I walk into Safeway or go out to eat, I’m shocked at the prices even when compared to when I lived there precovid.
I would also not want to go back to CA.
