    Lyrics:
All the men come in these places
And the men are all the same
You don′t look at their faces
And you don't ask their names
You don′t think of them as human
You don't think of them at all
You keep your mind on the money
Keeping your eyes on the wall
I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money
I′ll do what you want me to do
I′m your private dancer, a dancer for money
And any old music will do
I want to make a million dollars
I want to live out by the sea
Have a husband and some children
    Yeah, I guess I want a family
All the men come in these places
And the men are all the same
You don't look at their faces
And you don′t ask their names
I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money
I′ll do what you want me to do
I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money
And any old music will do
I′m your private dancer, a dancer for money
I'll do what you want me to do
I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money
And any old music will do
    Deutch marks or dollars
American Express will do nicely, thank you
Let me loosen up your collar
Tell me, do you want to see me do the shimmy again?
I′m your private dancer, a dancer for money
I′ll do what you want me to do
I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money
And any old music will do
All the men come in these places
And the men are all the same
You don′t look at their faces
And you don't ask their names
You don′t think of them as human
You don't think of them at all
You keep your mind on the money
Keeping your eyes on the wall
I′m your private dancer, a dancer for money
I'll do what you want me to do
I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money
And any old music will do
I′m your private dancer, a dancer for money
I′ll do what you want me to do
I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money
And any old music will do
I′m your private dancer, a dancer for money
I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money
I′m your private dancer, a dancer for money
Just a private dancer, a dancer for money

@priscilla yocub - I agree, sometimes, if not all the time we should stop looking at videos/movies for pure entertainment and look at the symbolism....I saw soul(s) given to Baphomet - Mosaic pavement (masonic checkerboard flooring) - the dancers were dead (notice the cobweb, mummy wrap), plus so much more, including Tina dying at the end (roses being thrown on her, just like ppl throw roses on casket at the gravesite).

@@GeorgeBoltz @George There's ritual symbolism throughout the video....Soul(s) given to Baphomet (demon with horns @ 1:58 ) - Mosaic pavement (masonic checkerboard flooring) - The dancers were dead (notice the cobweb, mummy wrap), plus so much more, including Tina dying at the end (roses being thrown on her, just like ppl would throw roses on casket at the gravesite).....When you watch the video/any video ask yourself, what does this imagery have to do with the actual song/lyrics?

John: I am listening along with you in 2020! The quality of songwriting back then was amazing! In addition, the way they told a story clearly, without profanity or insulting the listener. Also the melody, and production is amazing! Last but not least, Tina Turner's amazing vocal to carry the song all the way through!! Incredible! A big thank you to Mark Knopfler from the group "Dire Straits" for writing such a memorable hit for Tina. Enjoy! Cheers, Sam.

This video proves how pop stars were built in the 80s. Tons of personality and talent. Pairing Tina’s rough wailing sound with a glam rock backing is a winning formula.

    • @Vimana
      @Vimana 3 года назад +25

I like your comment but the "glam rock backing" isn't quite right. Most of it was played by the rock band Dire Straits. Their guitar player and singer Mark Knopfler had written the song before.
Dire Straits made different kinds of songs. Some of it was blues inspired, which used to be a very common influence on rock bands, but they had many other styles mixed in. They could also do some very sophisticated rock songs. That's how this song sounds as well. Some call those kinds of songs AOR (adult-oriented rock) but in the genre of rock there can be countless of different styles mixed in anyway.
Well, sometimes the styles and the genres are very hard to pinpoint exactly and it's quite pointless. What I know is that it's music and it's good. :-) Rock music should be able to express freedom. We could be free of endless categorizations and be free to just enjoy the music. Take care and have a great weekend.
