    The carousel is Jane's Carousel. It was built in 1922 for an amusement park in Ohio where it operated until 1984 when that park closed. The carousel was completely restored and moved to Brooklyn Bridge Park where it opened in 2011. You should take Violet for a ride! It's fun! That Mexican restaurant, Pedro's, is great! Go there too!

    Cash Jordan. What a name! For real? Tom Cruise. Cary Grant. It’s genius. You have the timing of a stand up comedian, the athleticism of an Olympic gymnast, and the editing skills that would have gotten you hired to work with Scorsese, Coppola, Hitchcock or Kubrick. I’m seriously impressed. I’m not planning to move to NYC any time soon, although I might in the future. But I’ve binge watched your videos. The low camera angles, filming from within an appliance, close shots, distant shots. It’s all really engrossing. I feel like Im actually in the neighborhoods that you explore. I’ve been to a lot of those neighborhoods, but you capture the essence of them. Distilled and refined into what makes them special and unique. Keep on doing what you’re doing. All the best to you and your family. Great work. Your channel is an example of the Internet at its best.

  • @JaniceWithTheTarlovCyst
    @JaniceWithTheTarlovCyst Год назад +38

    Took me a bit to understand why the living room felt odd, then realized that there are no windows.
    I could really have liked this place more if it had another bathroom and a more functional kitchen. Oh, laundry in unit too. Makes $7,00/mo seem a tad high. Plus I'd need more SAD light therapy lights if I stayed in that living room. Still, there is the charm of living in a place called Dumbo. I love the painted floors and the big bedroom rivalled my last bedroom with wall to wall closets. I miss my townhouse, but once my Son moved out, Niagara Regional Housing said I was overhoused since I was living in a RGI townhouse. I paid $140/mo for a 2 storey, 2 bedroom with laundry, all utilities paid. And it was nice with only 5 side by side units. The kitchen was too big and had so many cupboards that I didn't use half for kitchen related items. I really said too big, but honestly, it was great for parties.

    Greetings from Finland ! The prices of rental apartments in New York are absolutely absurd. We live in a 56.5 square meter apartment 7 kilometers from the center and the rent is 700 euros per month. Lived in Ol' Billyburg back in the day. Did the warehouse thing. Super high ceilings? Awesome for long distance darts (20' or further) , BUT also a lot of air volume to heat/cool. Great, you're not paying for heat directly! You'll probably be investing in an electric space heater for those times the building heat is off, though. Doubt individual room temps are monitored and heat is supplied accordingly. Most likely a central monitor in one room/area. Also for 7k, those oversized heavy windows need to open and close properly, you're charging people for a guillotine? Fitting an AC into one of those monster width window frames will require some DIY to seal off the extra space in the frame. Cosmetically and amenity wise it's nice. But 7k, c'mon man??? These warehouse lofts can be freezing at the height of winter and sauna's at the height of summer. Depends on what lengths where made to up insulation values during the upgrade. It's what you DON'T see that gets ya.

      I understand what you are saying but you have to understand too that there are quite a few people who just don't want the aggravation of renting/owning a house. Look... while lovely, etc. a house is not easy work to properly maintain and upkeep.

    • @FrankiesFancy
      @FrankiesFancy Год назад +2

      @@sinash Doesn't the landlord do maintenance? I live in a rented house and all I have to do is clean and mow the lawn. You have to clean an apartment and I'd rather mow a small lawn than freeze my rear end off in that apartment!

    • @sinash
      @sinash Год назад

      @@FrankiesFancy I would say that it depends upon the terms between the Landlord and tenant. For some, even the mowing of a small lawn would be something that they rather not be bothered with.

    I like the vibe of the industrial apartment, I have one question though which is I wonder what kind of heat you get being that the landlord is the one that is controlling it??🤔

    • @FrankiesFancy
      @FrankiesFancy Год назад +3

      Probably little to none. Those ceilings are more than 16ft high and heat rises. There are no ceiling fans to circulate whatever warm air back down. You're going to always freeze in that 7000/month cave.

    • @janish3059
      @janish3059 Год назад

      @@FrankiesFancy I do so agree with you one hundred percent! Because everything is brick out the windows and not well-lit to begin with no sunshine and the floor isn't even padded with wood or anyting just a cement floor you could be absolutely sure you going to freeze your patootie off... And another point is not even a washer or dryer in that large space. So the $7,000 tag is not such a bargain

      I get that totally. I have to be the one in control of the thermostat. That's my version of climate change and believe me, it's real. Consequently, that fact alone is a dealbreaker for me.

      There are laws stating minimum temperatures.
      Typically, you’re only going to have a problem if you’re in a building that has a lot of rent stabilized units which are prized by their tenants; so tenants put up with more.
      When a building has $7K 1 BRs (so tenants that have enough $ & options to live comfortably) like this building does, the landlord would have to be pretty dumb to keep people freezing during the winter.
      * FWIW, when I first moved to BK, I rented one of the few market rate units in what was mostly a rent stabilized building. It did get cold in the winter.
      I was only there 1 year.

    If you can afford to pay 7K in rent, just to have a view of depressing brick walls…you should definitely be making a mortgage paid towards something much nicer
