    Wow, they put a tunnel on the Cime Caron lift exit. Not sure why. I guess it must have something to do with the new Orelle liaison... Anyway, pro tip: the lifts are already open the week before the official opening weekend. That's the week that all the new skiing instructors are learning the resort. Don't tell anyone, but back in the days I'd allow my kids to skip one or two days of school just to enjoy the pristine conditions and only expert skiers on the slopes. No worries, they turned out fine. Anyway, great video, as always!

      I think that tunnel is just for the walkers (tourists) to get to the peak. Thanks for the tip, I was keeping an eye on Val Thorens, it was supposed to open a week earlier for its 50th anniversary but it was cancelled due to lack of snow in the village (though higher up was fine). Do they also allow the regular skiers on a week early?

      @@ChasingSnow yes they do. You can just buy a ski pass and hop on a lift. The only difficulty might be to find accommodation, since the hotels won't be open yet. I used to rent an apartment. A few restaurants will be open to accommodate the new employees.

    Wow! That was some great skiing given the crowded slopes. There were a number of times it looked as though you ought to have collision insurance, but you have really great control over your speed.

      I have Hypersmooth Boost set on the camera, which makes the footage very smooth. With the boost setting, it does this by zooming in so things appear closer than they really are. I think next season I'll leave the boost setting out so it should give a more accurate view.

    The "Cime" red is actually called Col de l'Audzin and it is an ugly MOFO of a piste. Narrow, bumpy and crowded, everything you _don't_ want when skiing. And the black (Combe de Caron) is very challenging. If you're not willing to go down the black, there is no point going up on that bus that acts like a lift (it goes at 40 km/h btw, the fastest cable car in France) other than the vantage point up there.

    • @ChasingSnow
      @ChasingSnow Год назад +1

      Hi and thanks for the information, it's very useful. I did the black though it was closed, ungroomed and poor light. It's in this video and starts at 5 minutes 44 seconds. ruclips.net/video/b78FP5HNSgI/видео.html

    • @apaleslimghost
      @apaleslimghost Год назад +1

      no, this is Cime. Col de l'Audzin is a much wider piste that you join by going left at the junction at 2:10. Col de l'Audzin goes mostly north to the top of Gentiane, Cime goes east along the ridge then northeast to meet Plateau.
