#lacithevintagegirlnextdoor I think you did a good job going through your clothes I counted at least I think it was 10 items that you decided to sell good job and I think your closet looks better
I love the blue you have on is fabulous. The hoarder house stuff looks horrible on the hanger. When you put them on it is like magic how good they look even the frumpy ones look good. The Johnny Cash dress is perfect. Color fit and fun. That is my favorite. Thanks for the haul.
I forgot to mention in my first comment that you did a stellar job of editing for this video. I just love how you would hold up a dress in front of you and then *BAM*, you were wearing it! Great concept and super execution. 🙌🏻 🎖
I agree Carmen. I would add a a basic black decorative edge to the hem making it longer. But if the armpits are truly to tight, U may want to pay for an alteration. This one is worth the efforts in my opinion.

Would you ever consider getting the larger ones you truly love tailored a small amount so that they fit? And maybe tailored in such a way that the alterations could be reversed if you wish to have it return to its original size?
What do you mean lose the belt? The belt's great, keep it! I just really couldn't judge the length as the camera didn't go down far enough to quite see it. I love the whole sleeve-less look though. Please show more from the closet of those!
@@tracyisbest The belt is unessary as it distracts from the pattern of the dress. If a dress doesn't come with one originally, don't add one to show off curves, simply buy a dress that actually fits your curves or get a bigger size and get it altered. I am a size 6 AU/US 2, little or no bust with 'child bearing" hips at a size 8 AU/US 4, due my metabolism and late father's genetics. As a Mod, I buy all sizes of vintage clothing because I am inspired by colour, patterns, the 'cut' and fabric of a garment that goes with my 1960s British Mod subculture aesthetic - not necessarily mid century Mod. I also have 1940s and 1950s styles, but these 1950s styles would be considered also early 1960s styles - think Mad Men. Dear Laci you look absolutely adorable in everything you wear! Please find a local seamstress to alter the sherbert color butterfly dress and keep the Kitty dress! Thank you for always sharing your inspiration and love. Xx
You are such a ray of sunshine! I hope that you will feel better soon. Please remember how many people on this channel including me adore you. You are so beautiful from the inside and the outside. I hope your struggles will pass quickly. Best wishes.
Hi Lacy! I really hope you're doing better. I lost my parents a few years ago about six months apart. Took me over a year to kind of get going into some semblance of the life I had. For each person it is different so take all the time necessary no matter how long. Not sure if that's the kind of grief you've experienced but recovery takes however long it takes. It shouldn't be rushed. I hope you're getting back to being you. I love your videos please keep doing what you so naturally do. God bless you.
Evey jan I clean my closet.but during the year when I wear an outfit (I only have outfits) I do have some basics. I put a rubber band on the clothing I have worn, this helps me clean if there is not a rubber band on hanger that means I have not worn that item in a yeay
My only advice for ever cleaning out a closet that I give to anyone is that if you have to think about it you should get rid of it because it’s not some thing that you truly love/want.
Most of the ones that you said were too big looked fine to me, but you should definitely keep the kitty dress. That turquoise color looks fanastic on you, and...kitties! You might be able to alter the armholes if they're too tight
I loved all of those dresses on you! The ones you thought were too big looked nice on you but that's going with a more modern fit -- loose, comfortable. The40s and 50s had a more fitted style especially up the sides to the armpits. I would get them altered especially the embroidered flowers and the butterflies since you love them so much and they look beautiful on you. This way, you get to enjoy them for awhile. The two that you weren't sure about -- I would, for ,sure, keep. The red pocket dress is person and the kitties are beautiful and so you! Like other commenters have said, you can get the armpits altered and add a piece to the bottom to make it longer. I go through that a lot lol. I wear calf-length skirts but I have, a time or two, fallen in love with a shorter skirt
You were justifying your feelings about each dress ...pass the ones that don’t fit on to another vintage clothing lover...you know ur fans will feel beautiful and wear them with pride♥️
That is so true. Clean when u are angry or fed up of not being organized like we would like to BE! Thank you so Much for speaking that out Loud.♥️ I need to hear that.
You have so much care for your clothes, even when saying good bye. In this world of fast fashion and throwaway clothing it is lovely to see the TLC you give and how you treasure these pieces. So respectful. **Also you should keep the kitty dress it looks beautiful with your hair and makeup!**
The one with the rose embroidery really brought out your hair color so well😭😭😭what a shame! As a vintage collector, this tore at my heart because it can be so hard to let go😭😭😭
My Mom would do a Spring Clean, every closet, clothes and linen and coat, would get a clear out. Large donations to charity meant big hauls on new clothes and sheets and towels. I still do it, although I don't replenish quite so much, I'm trying to downsize and yet every year I have a Bigg Haul to donate.
The blue flower dress (from your neighbor) IS so amazing!! 😍 I understand the pain of letting that one go!😩 Keep the blue sleeveless with the cats on it!
I may not be w woman who loves vintage but letting you know now you matter I love you and I will keep you in my prayers and I am sending you all of my love and unconditional support. Keep being yourself Laci you always end up being the first I watch on RUclips in the morning. I start with God but I don't see why I can't with you too. I have to. Your fun and amazing
That plaid dress is super pretty, but I'm sure you have lots of others you love as much. Probably the only one I would have hesitated on personally that you chose not to keep seeing as all are pretty. You are so lucky to find so much good stuff where you live. The thrift stores where I live in NY have mostly junk.
I think some of the dresses that are just a bit big on top would fit you right with one of those bullet/torpedo type bras. They are usually padded and sit way above the natural breast line and that's what the dresses were designed for
I think you should definitely keep the butterfly dress! It's a little big, but you can pull it off and that print is so unique and gorgeous! The dress with the kitties is a tougher one. it is very unique and cute on you but the way it fits in the arms would be a deal breaker for me. Such tough choices! You have great taste.
You should do a video about how to tailor/alter vintage clothing!! I’ve tried searching the internet for some tips but couldn’t ever find anything. It’d be so helpful!
P.S. You must keep the sleeveless dress with the kitties (your signature). You can either just wear it around the house or add some trim to the bottom, say a black edging to the desired length.
Butterfly Dress from the hoarders house is so cute on you I suggest having it altered in the top area and keep it It looks beautiful on you with your complexion and hair color 😻
I don't weigh much - think Twiggy in the 1960s - due to genetics on my late father's side. I hear you when you talk about your struggles with stress and grief. Friends of mine who I haven't seen in a while - thanks to COVID-19 and that I don't live in my hometown of Melbourne, Australia anymore - have asked if I have lost weight too. You look gorgeous anyway!
You are lucky because all the dresses that are too big have full skirts. I would use a seam ripper to remove the skirts, take the top in at the sides and then make darts, from the waist up in front and in back. You could then pin the skirts back on, making tiny tucks in the skirts to work in any extra fullness, then sew the skirts to the top. It would be easy. No fuss with zippers, buttons, just 4 darts. Love those hoarder house dresses. They are exactly what I remember ladies wearing when I was little.

Thank you for wonderful upload. I could watch hours of video of you trying on each and every beautiful dress. Please think about keeping some of your more special pieces and reuse them around your home. I noticed your shoe rack, make shelves for them by wrap some cardboard or foam core in beautiful fabric. Make a few extra pillows, table napkin, etc.
I’m glad you’re keeping the teal striped dress (the one that needs some stitching around the armholes). It looks truly fabulous on you! Also, it seems like one of those dresses that’ll work for a lot of situations. You asked for our opinions on a few other dresses... my mum had a great saying for times like these: “When in doubt, don’t.” In other words, if it isn’t an absolute “yes!” then it’s probably a “no”. IMHO, the Modo (sp?) dresses look way too blousy in the torso. In terms of the cat dress.....it’s adorable and the colour is wonderful on you. The camera angle didn’t allow us to see where it falls on you but, as cute as it is, uncomfortable armholes would be a deal-breaker for me. Maybe a good seamstress could slightly deepen the armholes? Could you wear it with a black pencil skirt underneath, offsetting the hem length issue? Sorry to blather on so long! You’ve inspired me to do some organizing too. 👍🏻
It's spelled Mode O'Day, and I'm old enough to remember driving past the Mode O'Day warehouse in Burbank in approximately in the 1960s and 1970s, when 1 lived in a neighboring town.
@@WBCRO You're welcome. I do remember two things about Mode O'Day (Lest we forget, at that time I was a teenager/young adult): 1) They made dresses for women (@ the time I called them "old ladies") 2) Allegedly they had the best employee cafeteria lunch around, and they let non-employees eat lunch there, too. I have become an "old lady". I just love Laci Fay and Mr. Johnny Cash (I am so glad that he returned from his "business trip".) The Mode O'Day dresses that she modeled in the video are so beautiful. I don't know why, but most of my favorite RUclipsrs happen to have black cats. My purr girl, Caterina ("Cat") Black went over the Rainbow Bridge over a year ago due to kidney disease, and I think of her every day.
The yellow flower dress still looks good on you Doesnt look to big would be so easy to take in the sides just of the top portion. I put a tag on things once I wear them and then challenge myself to wear everything its lots of fun !!!! Do you sew such cute things that you are getting ride of and such easy fixes You need a dress form your size and then just turn the dresses inside out pin the seams to make them your size and just sew with a simple seam . The cat dress is soooo cute just a a three inch black band at the bottom
My favorite closet organizing tips: 1. Measure your closet rod and decide how many nice hangers it will accommodate. Don’t forget to account for bulk of clothing and different types of hangers needed. Buy them! No more plastic hangers :) If you live near IKEA, they have a dang cheap 12 pack of wood hangers. Walmart has a good price on wood hangers too. 2. Get the 3M strips for hangers that make them non-slip. Even the really slippery, wide necked pieces will stay put. (For me, it was Amazon, alas) 3. Whittle your collection down to the number of hangers you have. This is the hard part, not gonna lie. Silver lining, if you have space to store off season clothes! Then you can have double the clothes, if you’re willing to do the swap out 😃 4. Now, maintain! One in, one out. It’s okay to have a “thinking about it” bin or area. *** Handy, but time consuming tip: reverse the hangers when you put clothes back in (opening of hangers to the front). As you wear things, replace them in the closet with the hangers in normal position. At the change of season, discard anything you haven’t worn (unless it’s out of season or dress up or EXTREME sentimental value) it will be easy to see! Consider archival storage for the vintage stuff you can’t part with but don’t wear... the boxes will fit under the bed...

Hello Laci. I love your channel. Hope you are feeling better. Totally loved everything, especially the dress with the roses. Take care.
The 40’s day dress looks awesome on you. Keep it!
Yes, that striped dress looked amazing!
@@janetburke2739 Thank you for supplying the correct name!
@@WBCRO You're welcome. I do remember two things about Mode O'Day (Lest we forget, at that time I was a teenager/young adult):
1) They made dresses for women (@ the time I called them "old ladies")
2) Allegedly they had the best employee cafeteria lunch around, and they let non-employees eat lunch there, too.
You can fix the sleeve on the kitty dress. I love it. Its so you!
Yep beautiful sherbet dress
The sleeveless with the cats on the bottom, get a black tule petticoat, will be cute with the petticoat showing.
The turquoise sleeveless dress looks good on you. Keep it.
I would totally keep the cat dress. It is so unique and pretty. 😍
Add a piece of black lace around the bottom of the kitty dress. It is adorable.
I hope you kept the kitty dress, I remember those long necked kitty designs from when I was a kid.
My favorite closet organizing tips:
(For me, it was Amazon, alas)
3. Whittle your collection down to the number of hangers you have. This is the hard part, not gonna lie. Silver lining, if you have space to store off season clothes! Then you can have double the clothes, if you’re willing to do the swap out 😃
Wonderful advice thank you!
You so adorable. And I noticed you looked slimmed down! I like you're sharing the ones that are leaving so we can all still see them :)
My rule is if i havent used in 5-10 years. Style last longer than one year. Plus we all have our forever Favorites ♥️
